When it comes to politics, leadership, and government...Thailand is a dog chasing it's own tail.

Thanks Lop,
And this is available at a local pharmacy?
Am planning on visiting Chula Pharmacy anyway in the next few days.

"but blood sugar testing monitors and strips are available everywhere if that is what you need to know"
Thanks for that. Perhaps that is it. I have never (self) tested for diabetes before, so I I am unsure just exactly what is in a kit.
-
Does anybody know if there are over-the-counter FDA approved Diabetes Home Test Kits available in Thailand/Bangkok, like the one below?

Thanks

Maintenance of anything is not understood or a priority of many of the locals here in LOS. A Thai buys a water machine and thinks he's bought a 'money machine'.

"why don't they just tax the air that we breathe"
-
If they could just stop all the government ministers and other gov. employees from skimming off the top...they'd have all the money they would need.
The anti-corruption mantra is just one big BS smoke-screen. It's business as usual (just don't get caught).

I could definately see Robin Williams saying it, and everybody would have laughed for days.
When are 'white people' gonna stand up and start law suits over racial slurs from others (because we know it happens all the time)...?
I support the Russian, very funny...!

Istanbul
Half the cost of Europe, great food, local wine, architecture, history, beaches in the south. And the girls are fantactic, plus they don't want a visa, or a new pickup truck, or a new house up-country built for their parents and relatives...they just want you!

Who are really Mongols who traversed the Aleutian chain nearly 30,000 years ago.

"Working With The Thais" by Henry Holmes
I read this book when it first came out in 1995 and I thought that it was nothing more than an attempt to cover-up Thai incompetence.
-
"How do you tell them they got it wrong without embarrassing"
The only way this culture is ever going to progress is if they DO start feeling embarrassed. Embarassment is a great teacher and a great motivator.

"However, he can't win the republican PRIMARY."
I think he can, and I think he will.

Jeb Bush is the next president of the United States. Romney is an 'awkward bumbler'.

Apparently 2nd-hand watches can be taxed as well.
-
Ahh, the Thai mind...

"Silly me, and clever you"

"Certificate of Identity" Where to obtain...?
Actually, without an original receipt for a 2nd-hand item bought in LOS, I can see Thai Customs concluding that I had 'smuggled' the watch previously without paying the proper tax and duty, and so therefore still have to pay.
You never know how Thais are going to think. I've experienced them taking a piece of information and going off into a tangent so inconceivable, I wished I had not gotten out of bed that morning.

This 'Rolex purchased in Thailand' story has got me perplexed and confused. Last year I purchased an 8 year old omega seamaster from a private party (no receipt) here in Bkk, and I am about to fly out for several weeks, and return wearing my watch.
I might add that I also just had the omega service center completely overhaul, rebuild, and polish the watch and it looks brand new.
Is Customs going to try to tax me on an item already taxed and imported into Thailand? What is my defense against this absurdity? -
I have friends that have them back home and they look simple enough. Find a 'blueprint' online and have one built here. Or bring one with you the next time.

I've had my share of challenges, and I just don't buy it. Unless it's raging infection, meds only treat the symptom, never the cause. I do not base my statements on something I read on the internet or something that someone else said, I base my statements on my own personal testing and experience.
In 1990 I was on 5 meds, in 1991 I said goodbye to all of them and have never looked back. But you've got to do the work, there are no short-cuts.

Yingluck 'involved in corruption'
in Thailand News
Posted · Edited by tkramer
This is not a Yingluck/Shinawatra problem. The problem of corruption has been around for a long time in Thailand and its roots are
