I just re-read this, and it seems they aren't legally married.

In this case a K1 is the quickest, or go to the Amphur get married and do  CR-1.

You are picking your poison here. Do you want your lady to be an immigrant faster? If that's the case suck it up and do the CR-1 and get legally married

If you just want her in the US as fast as possible do the K-1 then deal with all the BS, marriage <deleted> after the fact.

Just don't let her enter as a tourist then try to fix it. That will get you in a whole world of immigration hurt

You re-read your own post and somehow jumped to the conclusion the OP is not married in Thailand?... how??

If the OP is married (thru the Amphur), then his marriage is recognized by the US.

  2. The same theme was portrayed in that Van Damme movie.

Side topic... why are Thais fascinated with money, in particular spending it, yet fail in basic reasoning when it comes to borrowing it?

The next time stuff like this happens, I hope there is advanced notice so that I can purchase front row seating and a cold beer.

If the initial vaccine centres are anything to go by, they're all walk-in locations: people with appointments were turned away as they'd used all the vaccine on walk-ins.

It should be controlled via appointments.

I do not know about the Chinese or the Russian vaccines, but the others (i.e. the better stuff) needs to be kept cool and/or extremely cold before being dispensed.

A coordinated effort needs to be made. At the end of the day, if any remaining vaccine is available, then by all means seek any bystanders willing to get vaccinated. The vaccine cannot be refrigerated.

For the "good" stuff... forget J&J... a second injection is needed within 3 weeks. Again, coordination is needed to ensure that the supply is available.

    Please don't trivialize the effort.

How do they manage to hit these poles on the side of a straight road . Did he fall asleep , using his mobile or was the motorbike somehow involved or did his brakes fail ,dog run across the road ?

It was a PEA employee cutting the power off to the adjacent neighborhood. It's more efficient this way than to remove meters at each house along the route.

Yes the vaccines are free in the U.S. even to undocumented people. But at this point they've vaccinated all the low hanging fruit and are dealing with the slow hard job of convincing the holdouts to do the right thing.

One of the theories being floated is that once a person is vaccinated, there's no reason for them not to return to work. While a person remains on the sidelines, they are collecting a good wad of unemployment insurance - and this may be incentive to not get vaccinated.

Others are fearful of the vaccines.

And others are not yet eligible to get vaccinated (those below 16 years old and/or those who were recently infected). A buddy of mine was infected sometime in February. He probably will not be eligible to get vaccinated until sometime this month, or early June.

AstraZenica may be made by the same formula, but as shown by a lab producing the J&J vaccine if the lab is not sterile or cleaned or using clean ingredients then blood clots (or something else in the future) may cause problems.

The AZ and J&J vaccines did not cause blood clots. The clotting issue occurred in a very small percentage of patients (typically women), whose body had an adverse reaction to the vaccine. Blood thinners can help those that are suspected of being vulnerable to clotting.

Obviously tainted vaccines would be an issue.

P.S. A person has a higher probability of being struct by lightning than getting blood clots as the result of taking the vaccine.

P.S.S. I am not a doctor, nor a pharmacist. My opinions/comments are based on what I have read in the news.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

I'll buy a drain cleaning snake but I was looking for commercial firms that might help

    Any further thoughts please

Pour a cup or two of quality dish soap down the drain. Let it sit for hours (i.e. overnight). Do not dilute with water. It may help dissolve the grease.

If not, then it may be something else blocking the pipe; for example tree roots. In that case, you would need a drain cleaning snake.

I hope you understand how serious an asymptomatic infection and positive test needs to be taken.  Asymptomatic can and do spread the virus.  Look at the newest reports that have been posted in other forums on the subject herein.  As far as your statement of "Gratuitous testing for Covid is stupid. Test only if you have symptoms or if someone you know, and you have had contact with, has tested positive" you are so far off base I don't know what to say to you except look at the newest data and verified peer reviewed studies.  Most of all as you say, and i also say Stay Safe.

    Yeah, stay safe.

Wash hands frequently, and wear a mask. Practice social distancing as well.

If an asymptomatic person is in your environment, they will not be coughing/spreading the virus so easily. Get a clue! Oh wait, maybe they have allergies to sunshine. Oh, wait again... maybe they too are wearing a mask.

I have had Covid; I suspect I caught it my from daughter. I was hospitalized too.

Do you recommend that EVERYBODY test EVERYDAY, EVERY TIME they walk 10 meters? Seriously, wake up and be sensible.

People get tested, wait two days for the results... and in the meantime cross paths with perhaps hundreds of people. The result may come back negative, yet the person may have gotten infected within 5 minutes of taking the test.

Those who believe that testing is the magical means to stop the pandemic are dreamers.

P.S. I am awaiting your snappy comeback.

  9. Being infected with Covid is not a death sentence. The virus enters the body, and the body reacts to counter it. Sometimes the body reacts too much and not only wipes out the virus, but then goes after other areas... i.e. organs.

The virus itself generally fades away after a handful of days. By the tenth day, infected people can re-enter society without worrying that they are contagious.

Covid is very similar to the flu. However it is a variant that makes the body react in a peculiar way.

I am a Covid victim, and I should have recovered in a few days (albeit remaining in self-quarantine for 10 days). On my twelveth day, I was diagnosed with having a viral pneumonia. With treatment at a hospital, I recovered and today I'm doing well.

Gratuitous testing for Covid is stupid. Test only if you have symptoms or if someone you know, and you have had contact with, has tested positive.

Test results can take up to two days to receive; most people are not going to isolate themselves for two days awaiting the results. Christ, a person could become infected minutes before receiving a negative result.

I was infected with Covid in mid-December, Even with a certain degree of immunity, I decided to get vaccinated against the <deleted>. I will get my second dose in a few days. There are only a few people on Earth that I would wish for Covid to strike them down; for the rest of you, make plans to get vaccinated.

Anyhow, stay safe. Avoid congregating with strangers. Wash your hands often. Wear a mask and eye glasses (optional) to avoid having virus droplets enter your nose or eyes.

Thanks.  I am from Australia. Psychiatric services are not free, but are part subsidized under Medicare. However, psychiatrists charge way over the rebate amount meaning it still costs a fortune there.  Psychologist fees the same.  Medicines are subsidized under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme there which helps a lot, albeit different rates for different meds.

I don't qualify for a pension so lose out there as well. And would be homeless in Oz due to cost of living.  Everything is pointing towards me choosing one particular inevitable outcome.  Not blaming anyone. It is what it is. Thanks for all the input.  Maybe time to end this post as not going to solve anything.

    I'll bite.

    What are you depressed about?

    Are drugs your only relief?

I just get annoyed when people criticize other people's English. Not everyone has the same advantages in life

    Well said.

Those that cannot communicate properly may face "discrimination" at some level, and in turn, this may lead to a disadvantage.

I just completed my tax returns and filed them (efile). I used TurboTax. Last year I used turboTax but was unable to file my 2019 tax forms  electronically despite having the correct AGI so requested an extension and sent the tax forms to the IRS by registered post at the local Thai post office. This was sometime in mid-September of 2020.  I got the 2 stimulus checks sent to my US bank account, direct deposit.

After having just finished my 2020 tax returns  with TurboTax (efile) they informed me that I would be getting a $1,800 tax refund from the IRS and asked me for my bank account information for the direct deposit. I am not quite sure  why I am entitled to this generous rebate or gift except that my income was very low. ( don't make much money outside of my meager monthly Social Security  check and some dividends from a few US held mutual funds and ETF's.) By the way, I am retired. TurboTax also said I should be getting a stimulus check as early as the end of this month.

As you went through the motions of completing your 2020 tax return, were you prompted as to whether you received last year's stimulus payments ($1200 + $600)?

This coincidentally adds up to $1800. Unless you have someone in your household that was also eligible to receive the payments, it seems doubtful that you have scored a windfall of overpaid taxes. Watch out for next year.

They have already said that the vaccine will NOT prevent you from contracting the "virus", or spreading it.

So, what's the point of vaccination passports?

For people who haven't figured it out yet..

    Vaccines are extremely profitable.

Pharmaceutical companies (and the politicians they have paid off), have wanted to implement a system whereby our freedoms are tied to our vaccination status for quite some time now.

Once "health passports" are in place, and your mobility rights can be tied to your vaccination status - pharma companies and their bought-off government shills can easily coerce you into rolling up your sleeve for as many injections as they want.

They can't even be sued for injuries/deaths either as they have a complete exemption from liability.

    Quite the business model.

I can't believe so many "men" are willing to give up their right to bodily autonomy so easily.

    It's so submissive and pathetic.

Obviously you have not been sick with Covid. If you had, then maybe you'd be singing a different tune.

The next time you catch the common cold, I hope you just suck on lemons for the vitamin C.

Yesterday morning i decided i should go out for breakfast,so i did.

It was very busy in town and the beach was pretty much crowded with people enjoying the long weekend.

Lots of motorbike people and the atmosphere was great,a lot of relaxed people.

Not wanting a Thai food breakfast i looked for a place catering to western, foreign people, farang as they call them here.

Found a place, nice and clean and i was the only customer, these places are really struggling i am sure.

Most of the same places are closed and do not even bother to open i think.

Anyway, first time i was there and i asked for fresh coffee,it came and it was great!

Waiting for my breakfast i smelled some one smoking a cigarette ,i looked and the waitress was just sitting there smoking

    a fag.

I got up,walked to the bar and asked for the bill, paid and left.

Some people just do not have a clue!

Went home and made some food here.

    Rant over.

I would be more worried about the food you are being served. For Christ's sake, maybe the cook is smoking ganja.

I believe @Gumballl thinks this as fake as the moon landings, sad really.

What a crude comment to make. You know nothing about me.

I worked 0600 to 1400 that day, and as tired as I was, I decided to watch the coverage of the Perseverance landing on NASA TV (which at times, can be a little dry). Obviously I was slow to digest the fact that the graphical simulation I saw on TV was driven by telemetry being received from the rover after it had (obviously) landed. In other words, the simulation was delayed by 11 minutes, even though for us Earthlings it appeared to be happening in the now.
