What a stupid knee-jerk policy.
How about a simple advisement that people should stay away from one another. Those that must commingle should wear gloves (I'm really referring to the housekeepers at the hotels).
I guess some people just cannot be educated fast enough. If you go into a "foreign" environment and must touch things, wash your hands after leaving. Do NOT touch your face... ever!
This modus operandi should be practiced at all times, whether COVID-19 or COVID-3019 is present.

An article was posted to indicate that pollution may be a factor in the spread of COVID-19. For those of you in the "burning zone" of Thailand, perhaps this might interest you.

Here we go again. No mention of where these people were from, just the generic foreigner term used, so could have been from Cambodia or anywhere. Spitting on the floor at this time is pretty dumb, but the reaction seems to be excessive. There seems to be the mistaken belief that masks will save them all, and those without are deliberately trying to infect everyone else. And every excuse to have a dig at foreigners has no shortage of Thais, many of whom also spit on the floor, ready to unload their hatred.
Maybe they were denied entry to the store because they were not carrying their passports??

Let's see... at my local store, the following items are not available:
1. Face masks
2. Hand sanitizer gel
3. Paper towels
4. Toilet paper
I watched a stupid segment on a show yesterday evening that showed how to make your own masks. Step 1... procure a sewing machine; Step 2... procure materials. Step 3... yeah, whatever. Freakin' unbelievable!
Yinn... do you have any comments you would like to add?

Only N95 masks will protect you against the virus. A week ago Trump said he ordered a million N95 masks. Now he talks about scarfs, go figure,
A common surgical mask will not help much, and you need to replace it several times during the day. That's what doctors and nurses do.
Walk into a store and if someone breathing on you from close distance , the virus particles will go straight through the mask. But if you wear a N95 mask it will stop the particles.
Maybe the particles will come in contact with your eyes!

Listen.
social distance, wash your hand and wear a mask.
you want somebody die because you?
Just do it.
If a person is sick, they should stay indoors (away from others). If a sick person must go out, they should wear a mask.
If a person is not sick, no need for a mask. If a person is not sick and has a spare unused mask, offer it to someone who is sick.
Nobody in my family has a mask; they are unavailable for purchase. My wife must still go to work (grocery store), and even there, no mask is available. All available masks are going to the "front lines" at the hospitals.
My children and I have been doing our part to stay home, except for the occasional trip I make to the grocery store. Again, I go without a mask. I'm not sick!
Yes, I do wash my hands frequently, and I practice good hygiene.
Everyone that comes in close proximity to me should also follow my strategy. Only then can they protect themselves from an untimely death. If they die, NOT MY FAULT!!!

I think you do breathe the same air as all the other people on the plane though, don't you?
Some heavy reading for you:

If you think about it taking a 20 hour flight on airplane is not differenet. You will be breathing in the same air as 100's of people. It is worse than a cruise ship.
And the food that is served is merely leftovers from those flying 1st class. The water that is served is filtered from the toilet. Jeez, what other fake facts can I come up with?

Exactly! A handful of years ago, I purchased airfare for myself and the family to go to Thailand. Travel insurance was generously provided through the transaction, however the fine print indicated that injury occurring while on the ground, and travelling via a non-taxi service, is NOT covered. <deleted>Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? In Thailand, I never travel via taxi; I have family to help me go from A to B. I'm not sure how good is their (car) insurance.

I have not seen any standard guidelines for the proof of insurance requested by some airlines. I suggest you ask the airline you intend to use for your flight to Thailand.
I'm not planning on going anywhere (most especially to Thailand). I was merely asking a rhetorical question.

In the UK, when the use of 2 tone horns was still prevalent, it was proven that at 50 mph, the siren could not heard in a car in front travelling the same speed.
These (Thai) ambulances are not equipped with sirens of sufficient power and volume to be heard on a bike, with no helmet on, travelling at more than 50kph. They are not big enough to make a visual impact, as US and UK ambulances are. Nor is their paint scheme remarkable. In UK ambulances were white, then became Battenburg green and yellow and were always bigger than the standard minivan. 2 tone horns were replaced with now standard wail and yelp sirens, with active siren management.
An ambulance next to you, with no music in your car, could scare the bejesus out of you if it hit it's siren.
So in effect, you are saying that the speed of sound has been verified, beyond the shadow of doubt, to travel less than 50 MPH?

Some airlines are asking for proof of minimum USD 100,000 insurance cover before they give you a boarding pass for a flight to Thailand.
What does proof of insurance look like? Same question for the medical certificate?
What is to prevent someone from presenting these docs that are fake (i.e. produced on one's home computer), and getting away with it? Are the airlines, or even Thai Immigration, able to refute any documents that are presented to them?

news from the front, the most tradeable currency in Oz right now is your standard 6-pack of Quilton 3-ply. Some reported paying a premium for the Aloe Vera flavour. Even ATO accepting the stuff.
Ironically, one of the symptoms of the COVID-19 virus is not the sniffles. Here in the US, dummies are buying out toilet paper (and obviously, tissue paper). A week ago, hand sanitizer liquids sold out.
Indeed, the sky is falling.

Damn! Had Mr Girard just dropped anchor on top of a helpless lad, he would face a 500 Baht fine and a slap on the hand (providing of course, he confessed).
The Thai gov't really needs to look at itself in the mirror. The disparity in fines between damaging property, coral, some facsimile of a Buddhist amulet, or someone's life is completely out of proportion.
P.S. As captain of the boat, he is responsible for knowing where he can anchor. Not knowing anything about the captain, maybe a 100K baht fine is chump change for him.
People still violating curfew orders

Damn it. Damn it!!!!
I just caught COVID-19 from that guy on the motorcycle. Now my life is over.
P.S. Maybe that motorcycle guy is a highly paid doctor (or nurse) that is helping to fight the outbreak. Maybe he's merely a mortician.
