I am beginning to think this virus is a party hater. It surfaced last year as "first wave" just in time for Songkran. Then it re-appeared as "second wave" right around New Year. And now it is upon us again as "third wave."

Please... may I be permitted to puke over this incredibly obnoxious statement?!

Some TV poster may disagree with me, citing "Thai culture", but this 9-year-old kid should be in school, not in a boxing ring.
Also shame on "mum" that she permits this -- and pockets the money -- and I wholeheartedly applaud Mr. Adisak's comment:

Wonderful idea!
The perfect location for this would be parliament, as a whole host of amusing characters is readily available on-site at no extra cost.
You know... clowns and standup comedians, Mr. Magoo-like geriatrics, token village idiots, melodramatic divas, operetta-inspired fantasy generals, a bumbling posse of Keystone Cops, sinister superhero villains, etc. etc.

Ridiculous!
Will there also be a grumpy elderly hostess positioned near the shelves to reluctantly offer you a tiny packet of stale peanuts while you're waiting for your food to be nuked?

"Wait no more"... than a mere 7 to 10 days locked up in a hotel room at your dream destination -- after which your 14-day holiday that you were able to wrestle from your boss will be pretty much used up.

And soon TAT is going to extrapolate these figures, predicting that 12.6 million Brits are already packing their bags to stampede to Thailand. Wait for it!

Why would I care? I am still stuck in unwavering nostalgia in the not so distant past, when the baht was pretty stable... at an exchange rate of 38 to the US$.

"Foreigners told that 2021 is a Golden Year for investment in condos"
Oh, really? For whom? Those "20 major real estate developers" who have expressed great love for participating in the Elite Card :Flexible One" and Flexible One Plus" scams... pardon... schemes and "see great value (i.e. profit)" in them?
As an old Thai proverb says: "If you can't sell it to a local, sell it to a foreigners at twice the price by conjuring up a 'Golden Opportunity' that would be foolish to miss."

The underlying question is if they truly love the "brand" and "concept" or whether there might be another reason for that unbridled enthusiasm. Hint words: hefty profit

And countries where it is only easy to transfer IN your funds but almost impossible to withdraw your funds and repatriate them to your home country without having to jump through hoops and submit tons of paperwork.
And countries where, as a foreigner, no matter how wealthy you are and how much you contribute to the economy you ALWAYS will be regarded as a second-grade citizen with almost no rights.

Okay, okay, so let me try to get that straight: The good professor is saying that close to 20% of this country's population have a screw lose in one way or another?
Seems a lot.
But then again... maybe not, when you look at our politicians and officials and their often absurdly bizarre announcements, statements and schemes.

Are you sure there even ARE 1 million retirees who...
1) are able to spend up to $10,000 every month AND
2) who actually WANT to move to Thailand?
As usual, it just another scheme designed to milk foreigners for as much as they're worth.
Who actually comes up with these figures? Have they been pulled from hat? Has Mr. Supattanapong the slightest clue how many people 1 million actually are? Unbelievable!
I am beginning to comprehend why Thailand is pushing to send a spacecraft to the moon. It's because a good proportion of these politicians and officials who dream up these feverish schemes seem to be living right behind it.

I figure that in a country where April Fool's jokes seems to be scattered throughout the year in the form of truly absurd official statements and bizarre news reports, a dedicated April's Fool Day might indeed be superfluous after all.
As far as Thailand is concerned, every other day IS April 1.
