A most curious verdict.
Does that mean any Thai citizen can commit murder or any other felony abroad... and in theory still could become PM upon their return?
To be totally frank here, this is banana republic justice.

Democrat Party Spokesperson Ramet Rattanachaweng said today (Wednesday) that the trend is an attempt to discredit the government, which is doing its best to solve the country’s problems. “I believe all Thais think the same, which is being proud of being Thai. I don’t like to see this becoming a trend, as it will damage the country.”
Well said, Mr. Ramet! You tell those godless traitors against the fatherland!
By the way... how are your relatives in the U.S. doing?

Now just imagine MY home country would explicitly exclude expat foreigners - especially Thais, of which we have hundreds of thousands! - from our national free vaccination program "until enough surplus vaccine is available".
Then guess who would very noisily protest through its embassy against such a blatantly racist policy.... that's right, the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs would.
But not to worry. NOBODY is being excluded in my home country. Not even Thai expats. Though they surely would deserve it, if only to get a little "dose" of their own government's racist medicine to help them understand what it feels like.

The offer this time is a 'free 'elite' limited edition keyring' !!!
Only need to invest 50 million baht in a Thai account that can not be accessed for 3 years.. Or ever taken out the country.. Plus 3 special rounds of golf at only 10k per round discount, and a spa..
Good deal na ??
I am getting so bored with "limited edition" keyrings. Can we make it a "limited edition" necktie, please? You know... in the shape of a noose, that would be perfect (and very symbolic, too).

"Thailand lures the rich..."
I don't know, whenever I read "Thailand" and "lure" in the same sentence I get the rather uneasy feeling that somebody, somewhere is going to get squeezed for every penny they're worth -- receiving very little in return.

No surprise here.

No surprise here either, but rather an expression of deep mistrust.
And then...

... and accompany that statement with the picture of a young female soldier waiting for her jab and who clearly is *not* above 60. Well, maybe she's diabetic or has cancer.

Instead of monks, I wish they would find MILITARY OFFICERS at fault of being involved in politics.
After all, it's not monks who have created Thailand's chronic political mess.

"Is murky past about to catch up with govt ‘fixer’ Thamanat?"
Ironically, a "fixer" in German is a derogatory term for "heroin addict".

The tragic irony is that the butler usually implicates himself out of misunderstood loyalty to his master.

Of course, the true gist of this article is that 14.57% of Thai people seem to be rational thinkers.
I suspect that this is the same 14.57% demographic who do not rub tree bark for the upcoming lottery numbers, don't worship disfigured newborn animals as something "holy", do not subscribe to the idea that wearing certain amulets makes you invincible, don't crouch under an elephant's belly if they want to conceive a child, don't see some bizarre ghosts lurking behind every banana tree, reject the notion that drinking 85% proof moonshine with pickled centipedes or cobras does anything to increase sexual libido, and are not entirely convinced that their nation is the center of the known universe and pinnacle of human civilization.
In other words: there is still hope for this country.

It's true! I've been gorging on Pad Krapao and no Covid. I have also started using powdered mummies to achieve immortality. I can't wait to live forever!!!
I have powdered quite a few "mummies" in my own time. And look at me... healthy as a horse!

Excellent theory. But why bother with pad kraprao then? Just gargle with pla raa every morning. That will do the trick for sure.

Wrong.
You can only truly protect yourself against Covid-19 if you chew on buffalo dung (let it melt in your mouth slowly), smear your limbs (especially the hands!) with fish innards (any species will do), and stuff your ears and nostrils with "pak chee lao".
My reasoning? Well, if you believe that eating pad kraprao is going to ward off that virus, you're also going to believe the above.
Another poster noted that "even Celtic warriors" wore protective amulets. Nice comparison, buddy! The Celts lived 2,500 years ago. Just as many years as Thailand's education system seems to be lagging behind.

A somewhat famous DJ
holds private party
where dozens of people get infected
he is given a heavy fine and jail time
the venue's management is given jail time
the news immediately is all over the press, and for weeks on end
the DJ is vilified and sternly criticized by the government
vs.
a very public justice minister
holds private party
where dozens of people get infected
he is given no fine whatsoever - nor any jail time
the venue's management goes scot free
the news is suppressed by the media for a full 3 weeks
the government refrains from any criticism and let's the minister keep his job, too
Can you recognize the differences in these two tales?

TAT works from home?
That's baaaad news. People do get really crazy ideas when being confined to their own homes and suffering from cabin fever, you know.
Will be most interesting to see what the next few TAT bat <deleted>-crazy announcements will look like. They were ludicrous enough when everyone was still working from the office, but with that new arrangement they surely will top even those.

Next year??? Blimey!
Better tell those 6 million Brits who according to your tourism agency had already packed their bags and were ready to go that they'll just have to wait a little longer.
I also guess that this new situation will somewhat impact the tourism and sports minister's rater hasty announcement that Thailand is going to "welcome 35 million foreign visitors within this year".
Note for the future:
HOLD announcing your re-opening plans until you have actually tackled the pandemic. And then - and only THEN - will you start making plans and announce them too. That way you will save yourself the constant embarrassment of having to revise your re-opening dates. It's a big loss of face, you know?
Besides... 6 million Brits will be enormously grateful towards you because you spare them from having to pack and unpack again and again.

We retaliate by giving them 20 tons of malodorous durian.
Now... that's got to be the cruelest tit-for-tat ever.

You can say about these idiots what you want, but not that they lack unbridled optimism, OTP enthusiasm and - perhaps more importantly - boundless delusion.
Hello, Mr. Somchai, we are almost halfway through this year, with the pandemic not showing any signs of abating. You ARE aware of that, right?

I am fully with you, Colin.
Now... let's wait for the tiresome chorus of Thai apologists who are going to tell you and me and countless others on this forum who have maintained a modicum of ethics and morals to "leave if you don't like it here."
