For 10 years all over Thailand I have used an inkjet printer and photographic paper with no problems.  I have never used plain paper.  Why would you use plain paper to print a photo?  It is like printing forms on toilet paper, I guess you could buy why would you?

Because A4 paper is easier to be filed.

They asked me to rdecude a Chanote and to present it in A4 format, they asked me to present all the photocopies of documents oriented in a way that they do not need to turn the paper to read it...

It could be rational (from certain point of view......)  to ask also the pictures printed on A4 format.

  2. I have been yesterday at the Phuket Immigration for information about the annual stay extension permit based a retirement visa, and they asked me this kind of picture (I do not know if 4x6 standard pictures or printed on a A4 paper).

They also recommended me to present all the photocopies of documents (TM card, passport pages, etc.) oriented so the content can be read without turning the paper 90 degrees.........

  3. In my opinion the problems for tourists in August are not coming from the sky but from the sea, that can be very dangerous and may prevent the possibility of swimming.

If you are planning to spend your time on the beach be cautious, if you are not particularly interested in beach activities you could have a good holiday in a nice Phuket, less crowded than in November.

  4. I have been yesterday to take a look to King's Power, only chinese tourist groups inside :-)

But beside Bulgari and Christian Dior, I saw that they are selling also more common items like Levi's and Lacoste.

Does anybody know about their prices compared to Central and other shops ?

  5. After forgetting the idea of "the super beautiful exotic phuket", I would absolutely avoid Ao Chalong, on the east side, as well as Rawai where the beach is scenic to see and for taking photo, but it is not apt to swim or to rest on the beach.

The best beaches, if they really do want to come here, are on the west side of the island.

At present, with the army policy, they are looking better, much less crowded than before, but also much less comfortable, without the possibility to enjoy the place on a sunlounger or under an umbrella for the sun.

Personally I consider Phuket a nice and confortable place where to live, but I suggest to my friends travellers that are looking for a beach holiday to avoid this island and to go elsewhere.

  6. Many thanks, hansgruber :-)

In fact I think that lopburi3 is right, difficult to find a fabric retail seller, better to look for a furniture shop.

I went this morning to Island Furniture and they have very good material.

    Tomorrow I'll try your address.

  7. Hello,

I am looking for a shop where to buy a good quality cotton fabric to cover sopha and armchairs.

Already been at Jim Thompson, but unfortunately did not find the color and pattern that we are looking for.

Any other shop with good inventory and good quality to suggest me ?

    Many thanks

  8. Welcome to Trung, Federico.

If you like, send me an email, before you come to Trung.

Perhaps, we could have a hot chocolate.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Many thanks, mkawish, at present I am back to Europe, but should be back to Thailand in January.

    I'll contact you.

    Merry Christmas to you

  9. I'm surprised, you didn't mention Mario& Meghi. Very good.

Clearly you are not Italian ....

I don't judge the pizzas. I judge the restaurant food, place, wine etc and Mario & Meggi are little more than a pizzeria.

For pizza they use thai tomato, not Italian, and pizza -for my taste- becomes too sweet.

    Hi

I am not Italian but love M&M and there must be a reason why the place have customer every night except Monday

I am italian and I do like thai food, so I rarely look for an italian restaurant, but the only place were I go when I like to have a pizza or a pasta is for sure Mario & Meggy :-)

I may agree with greenwater that the pizza quality is often a problem of personal taste but, as said by hdrider, the fact that M&M is always full of people speaks by itself.

  10. Hallo to everybody

We are an italian couple in his retirement and, at present, we have a base in Phuket where we spend some months every year.

Phuket is an easy place, very comfortable and still pleasant, but cement and new buildings are rapidly covering all the island, so we are looking for moving to a more quiet area.

We were thinking to the area of Trang, where we would like to find, for buying, an independent house, possibly with a swimming pool, and not far from a nice beach, maybe also on a small island if well connected to the land.

Do you have any suggestion for us about some area where to look ?

And, maybe, do you know some real estate developement or some real estate agent that could help us ?

    Many thanks for any help
