......is it Milan? See if they do PCR test at airport......
No, for the moment they only do antigen test for those arriving from the "dangerous countries", and some parking company is starting offering a fast check, but no PCR.
Hope they will organize something better, I am planning to leave at the end of December -
I tried to contact the Airport staff (at Milan) of Qatar and Emirates in order to know directly from them which date are they checking on the Covid certificates, but it seems impossible to contact them by phone or email !!!!!!!
I could only contact the central airways offices that directed me to the air company links where it is written "issued", but no more than this.
Qatar call center suggested me to go directly to Milan (more than two hours from my town, with complete lockdown in Milan area) to have the possibility to ask then personally !!!! -
I do not understanf exactly if, for coming back to Thailand under a COE, it is the certificate of Covid free conditions (RT-PCR) that has to be issued no more that 72 hours before the departure, or if it is the samplig for the test that has to be made no more that 72 hours before (that would be more logical).
The COE site in english (https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/regis/step?language=en) seems to ask "issued no more", but I would not like to have some problems at the airport.
And in these days it is very difficult (at least in Italy) to get a covid test in a short time, less than 72 hours.....

Only the covid 19 insurance was required.
The RTE in Rome for a case like this (still valid extension based on non-imm O for retirement) was asking also the general health 400k/40k insurance.
But this was on the 9th of November, today is the 17th, who knows.........

Has anybody experience entering in Thailand with Luma Thailand Pass for Covid coverage ? https://info.lumahealth.com/thailand-pass
For people needing only a 90 days, depending on the country of origin, the coverage may be cheaper than the TGIA

... insurance that specifically covers covid 19 .......
Many thanks !!!!
I was worried reading those instrucions that states different things, hope nothing will change. -
These instructions, that I have received through the Italian Embassy in Bangkok, but are reported also on the facebook pages of the Thai Consulate in Sidney, seem to require, in addition to the famous 400k/40k insurance, also a " Medical and travel insurance with a minimum of 100.000 USD coverage, including but not limited to Covid-19 treatment throughout the stay in Thailand ".
In my mind the two insurances were supposed to be complementary, but with different coverage object.
Am I wrong ?
Shall we have two different insurances for the same general health coverage ?

I think it is worth to check also Luma Thailand Pass : https://info.lumahealth.com/thailand-pass
Depending on your age and your country of origin, could be interesting : up to 74 years it is 8.000 baht for 90 days

That would be the $100,000 covid 19 insurance.
I am not sure.
I understood (by phone) , that not only the 100.000$ covid insurance, but also the 400k/40k is required for the lenght of the permit of 90 days.
This would be logic, considering that the non O retirement, in Rome, is issued for 90 days staying
Hope they will update the site

The London embassy website states that insurance is needed if applying for a new non-o visa.
Also the Rome Embassy told me, at the phone, that the insurance (400.000/40.000) is required to get a new non O retirement visa.
Their site is not update
Insurance required for the lenght of authorization to stay (90 days)
I do not know what will happen when, after 90 days, I will ask the permit extension at the thai immigration. We'll see.
-
Thai Embassy in Rome clearly states that, from the 1st of November, all the COE must be requested through this site : https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/
Moreover they also link a funny (?!) video where it appears that requesting a COE is like a very amusing and easy game..... ???? : https://youtu.be/1c1dNaXv0mM -

How many months cover do you need to purchase?
They told me that the insurance must cover the lenght of the permit that you have to stay in Thailand.
With a new non imm O retirement visa ( I need this because my old extension is expiring ) that is issued for 90 days, I should cover 90 days only.
If I will ask an extension while in Thailand, it will be an other story....

So if you return with a re-entry permit on an extension of stay for retirement, must you purchase COVID insurance to get the COE?
Yes, this is what Thai embassy in Rome told me
-
As far as I know, until a few days ago, the non imm O visa for reason of retirement was not valid for gettig a COE and rentering in Thailand.
Now I see that, if I check the thai site that now it is compulsory to use for getting a COE ( https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/ ) in the third page where they ask the first data, under the indication "Types of permitted persons", the last voice is "Long Stay Visitor (O Ret)"
Does anybody have update/new information about the possibility to enter under non O retirement ?

I am organizing myself for coming back to Thailand, and today I phoned the Thai embassy in Rome to get information for the non imm O-A visa.
They told me that the O-A visa they are issuing is for one year, multiple entries, but with a compulsory exit every three months.
It is the first time that I hear this, maybe I am a bit forgetful, can somebody confirm me if this is the common rule ?
Of course I am not worried about the need to take a short exit end re-entry every three months, but if every time I need to be quarantined.........????
By the way, about the same O-A subject, the one year of validity starts from the visa date or from the entry in the country ?
And, after getting the visa, after how long it is needed to enter in Thailand to avoid that the visa expires ?Many thanks for any help

Re COVID insurance if you can get written confirmation from your Italian insurance that it will cover you in Thailand for COVID you should not need a separate COVID policy.
For that matter, if your Italian insurance will sign the "overseas insurance certificate" you ca use it to meet the O-A requirement as well - but only for issuance of the initial visa, nto for incountry extension.
Thanks Sheryl, unfortunately it is not an Insurance Company, but a mutual organization between the managers and ex-managers of the italian industries. It gives a good coverage, also if not 100%, has no upper limit for the expenses and will escort me for my entire life, but it is not an insurance and almost will not sign the infamous thai papers.
But, anyway, I'll try !!!- 1

Hi Jacques,
I did PM you the requested Guideline document on how to meet the mandatory IO-approved health-insurance requirement when applying for the Non Imm O-A Visa in your home-country.....
I am in the exact same situation fo Jacqes (age, O visa for retiremt expiring...) he only difference is that I am from Italy.
Regarding health insurance I aready have a good coverage from a mutual organization (Italian Industry Manager), so will choose for shure the LMG.
Regarding the 100.000 dollar covid coverage, the TGIA is asking me, because I am from Italy, but from France or USA is the same) 43.200 baht per year.
For the moment I found LUMA that, until the age of 74, asks 34.000 baht per year or 20.000 baht for six months.
Of course, if Peter would be so kind to send also to me his Guideline document for tha O-A visa I will be grateful, and more than happy !!!!
By the way, I see than to issue the O-A visa the Thai Embassy in Rome asks also a medica certificat confirming that I am not affected by leprosy, elephantiasis and third step of syphilis. I wonder if it is the same all over the world or it is only the Embassy in Italy that is so cautious..... ???? -

Are you going to stay 1 year or longer? If staying a shorter period a travel insurance from Italy or online might be cheaper than a Thai insurance. It's about making big money from foreigners here in Thailand.
I stay every year about 6-8 months.
I am afraid that with an european insurance it will be difficult to have them to sign the declaration that they are in compliance with the thai law. If cheap, I would prefer a thai insurance.
By the way, I have an health coverage from a mutual organization that covers my health everywhere in the world, but it is not an "insurance".So I need only a piece of paper to make happy the thai immigration
-
Thanks, Ubonjoe, but if I check the price on TGIA for one year, declaring my country of origin as Italy, the price for one year is 43.200 baht (that is well more than LUMA).
If I put UK, where the situation is much worse than in Italy, as country of origin, the price for one year goes down to 23.040 baht.........
A bit surprising....
-
If the things will not change it seems that for reentering in Thailand we will have to confront with this problem.
I was looking in internet and I found LUMA Thailand Pass that looks to cover up to 3.500.000 baht, Covid included, at the cost of 34.000 baht per year or 20.000 baht per 180 days, until the age of 74.
It does not look expensive. But note that the customer has to anticipate the payment and would get back the refund later.
Does anybody know this policy or had found other alternatives ?
For the moment I only found LMG, that is cheap for the 400.000 baht generic health insurance (with a deductible of 200.000...) but that for Covid coverage asks 10.000 baht/month for an age between 61 and 75. -
In the next days I will go to the airport for taking a flight to Bangkok or (still I hope....) directly to Doha.
I am not sure, due to the many orders and counterorders of the last month, that my knowledge of the present requirements is up to date and complete.
A part of mask, no cough, body temperature and registration with Thai Chana, does anybody know if there is some other registration or form to fulfill before be able to jump on my plane ? -
Many thanks, Tapster, this time I have found a carpenter, I prefer because we also need do do some small carpentry work.
Thanks for your suggestion, will keep it in mind
-
I have a set of outdoor teak furniture that need some work of restoration (cleaning with sandpaper and/or acid, and oil coating).
Does somebody have a suggestion for a carpenter/painter that could make a good job, better if in Rawai area ?
Please refrain from suggesting me to do the work by myself: I am a bit old, and I have already completed the part of furniture cleaning assigned to my life ????- 1
