  1. Tung Ka Cafe on Rang Hill, with a lot of care against the virus, unfortunately they have to close early because they are in a public park.

Archee in Rawai, just reopened the 1st of June.

    Tandoori Nights near Makro-Chalong

I think that the restaurants that are reopening are making a big effort to do so, and need the support of the customers.

    Just noticed the same elsewhere.

Could it be to prevent the dustbins from being used by others?

It would be very hard to think that the dustmen may be worried for unauthorized use of the bin.....

The problem of the overturning is that at the bottom of the bins there is often some trash out of the bags, and in this way the trash remains on the road.
Who is cleaning it ?  In my area nobody, and sometimes it's me.......

Was any plausible reason given for  upturning the bins?

No, but my opinion is that they hope that, keeping the most of the bins overturned, the people from different houses use the same, and less, bins

  4. To give an update on the matter :

I went three times at Rawai City Hall with pictures showing the dustmen overturning the garbage bins and pouring trash on the road.
The conclusion has been that, since I am the only person that went to make a complaint, they will not overturn anymore my bin and my trash, but they will continue to do it for the other bins in my area (Soi Kok Yang)........

  5. Yes, I have pictures and video, and I have paid my garbage tax (480 baht, to be precise).

I know that they will laugh, only wanted to know if in other areas there is this problem, and hope somebody else will move about this matter.
They laugh a bit less every time that one more person makes a complaint ......

  6. In my area (Nai Harn), in the last days the garbage truck guys are overturning almost all the private garbage bins and lefting them capsized.

Of course they are also pouring a lot of garbage on the road

I suppose that they prefer to have less bins to discharge in the truck but, of course, nobody likes to have the garbage from neighbors in his bin, and to have to clean it from someone else's trash.

I think next Monday I will go to the Rawai city Hall to try to make a complaint......

Any similar experience in other areas of Phuket ?

I do not have access to the internet on my phone, do you need the internet for this to work?

Yes, in this case you have to write by hand your name and telephone number.

That is less technological but also easier and faster ????
Just suggest to bring your own pen.....

"On entering the malls, visitors must install the Thai Chana app"

    From where?

As far as I have understood, Thai Chana is not an app and does not need to be installed on your phone.

My experience yesterday at Central Festival :
Entering in a shop, you scan the qr code, open the relevant web site, put a telephone number (or any number) on the site page and push some green button.
When you exit from the shop, you scan again the qr code, connect to the site, and push an orange button.

    That is all.

I have strong doubts about the benefits of this quite complicated procedure.
But, also considering that may put any telephone number on the site, it does not look to be a substantial loss of my freedom (also considering that google maps is already keeping all my whereabouts of the last few years and I never cared to delete them .........)

Anyone have a working link to do the 90 day online? I have tried but when clicking submit the form returns minus the "I'm a robot code" tried a few times but same problem.

The address I'm using is extranet which gives you the 90 day report form.

Ten days ago I used this link :

    https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do?cmd=acceptTerm

It worked without any problem with Chrome.

Check to be sure to try between 7 - 15 days before your 90 days expires

Well, that's good to know, I will give it a go next week..

But I'm more worried about getting back to my condo, that could also be a problem, did your friend had any issue with that ...?  The same policeman may not be there to recognise you and let you back through blockade - I like to call it blockade, because it is really that, nuts.... !!! ? vince with this crazy sub-district restriction,  as loonies have taken over the asylum...!...

No problem !!! He just said he's living in Rawai and was coming back from Immigration
I suggested to bring with him a copy of the address notification to have an address proof, but he did not need it

  11. Yesterday (27th of April) a friend of mine managed to reach Phuket Immigration from Rawai.

At the check points he showed the passport with expiring visa, but always had to discuss a bit because they were trying to push him back.
At the immigration he got (in the same morning ....) his one year retirement extension, as well as the re-entry permit.

Only three persons where in line with him

  12. Thanks, since I have finally been at Naborn Clinic in Rawai (it is only a place where to collect blood and other samples) in the case somebody may be interested these are my personal impressions :

Hygiene : acceptable, and the nurse inside was keeping the face mask also if she was alone in the shop, I appreciated.

Speed : very good, I was waiting  also for some not routine analysis, and in the afternoon I received the results by  email.
Reliability : difficult to say, the results look not far from the usual values that I get (and, most important, good.....????)

I think I will go again here

  13. Does anybody have experience with this lab ?

In particular hygiene, reliability and speed of analysis results ?

We need to make some analysis, usually go to Bangkok Hospital but now we are looking for something more easily attainable.

    Many thanks

Probably this gives better arrival times for a connecting flight. See also posy #13, "" Thanks, I know about the flight but that would give me a 20 hrs stopover in Doha".

Moreover sometimes there is a considerable difference of price between the two options. I usually go with Qatar from Phuket, but the last time, going through Bangkok, I saved a lot of money.

And, anyway, if Merijn has booked this flight, he probably had some reason.

In my last trip a simple telephone call to the Phuket office of Bangkok Air, that was bringing me from HKT to BKK, has solved the problem of Immigration and baggages .......

I guess you've never had Chikungunya to say that! I was pretty much crippled by it for over two years, then had a hip replacement that the doctors think that Chikungunya may have caused. Definitely something to avoid!

Last November 5 out of the 6 persons that were living in our complex in Rawai, Soi Kok Yang, have been infected by Chikungunya.

Now, after six months I am better also if I still have some pain at the arms in the morning, one of my neighbours still have strong pain and swelling.

We were fumigating once a month our gardens, but maybe to do it not all together in the same time, in adjacent areas, has been a mistake.

For shure it has not been sufficient.

    Definitely an underestimated danger.

  16. I have a wooden deck around a swimming pool, and it needs to be well cleaned and treated with a good oil.

I am looking for a person that knows how to treat the wood and could do the job.

Any suggestion (except the suggestion that I could do myself the work.....) ?

  17. In the case that you are the manager of a Thai company that owns both the land and the house (situation not uncommon for sigle houses)  you should go to the immigration with:

    - Chanote

    - Blue book

    - Renting contract from your company to you

    - Recent document set of the <company with the indication of the company manager

    - Passport (first page)

    - Visa

    - TM6

    - TM30

(made like this on last September)

Much easier to register the company on line, with Goggle translator it is a bit hard but still possible also if you do not know thai language, and later make your presence or arrival declaration always on line (no more trip to immigration !!!!)

(made like this on last November)

Of course the above is for the registration of your address, that is the first step.

Once it has been done, for the Residence Certificate, you need to go to the immigration with passport, arrival card, two pictures and proof of the above (passport slip or computer printout)
