  1. This excellent link, posted by aublumberg, is absolutely clear, correct and complete. I see that nobody is quoting it, but I believe that if everyone go through this link they would find many answers to the questions they are about to write on this forum.
  2. Maybe my case is different, I have a non-O retirement and my wife a dependent extension, my Immigration Office is Phuket. Every year I get a marriage certificate in my home country from the local authorities, I translate it in Thai and I go to the Consulate of my country that certificates only the correct translation, not the document content. Probably the case of your friend is different but, like somebody else told you, it is worth to double check what they really want.
  3. Because they asked me, and because number, expiring date and my signature are only at the back.
  4. My last experience al Phuket immigration was on March of this year, hope it is still updated At the Immigration they were distributing this check-list: VistoIstruzioniImmigrationMarzo2023.pdf I gave also the hand-drawn map and a copy of my ATM card. Picture only outside, with evidence of the house number. Any more recent experience will be welcome
  5. Are you sure that there are no consulates or embassies of other nations in Thailand that can take care of those who are natives of your friend's country? Generally there are agreements between different nations for this very reason. If you tell what nationality your friend's wife is, maybe you will find help more easily
  6. In fact it has always been like this, but few expats were realizing it because the taxation was referred only to incomes imported into Thailand in the same year in which they were earned. Expats were rarely bothered by this rule because it was very easy to prove that what they brought to Thailand was referred to earnings from past years. A recent directive from the Revenue Department will oblige people to pay taxes on all incomes brought into Thailand, regardless of the year in which they were earned. The main objective of this new law is to target rich Thais who have investments and earnings abroad, not expats, but also expats now have to check their fiscal situation. But it is logical to expect to live in a country all year round and never be called upon to check his own tax situation ? For sure in Europe it would not be possible to change the country of residence without taking in consideration the tax aspect, why shouldn't it be the same here ?
  7. I agree with you, no time for verification ! But, after this almost istantaneous registration, I notified my arrival to Thailand and, a few day later, I went to the Immigration to get a Residence Certificate. I brought my PC screenshot printed, they were happy to see it, they checked on the computer and I got my certification ! So it seems that it works.
  8. Me too, I pay the taxes on my pension here, this income does not add to other incomes that I have in my native country and I save money. It is not rocket science, every year I go to the local Revenue Office with my data and they help me in filling online the form PND 91 (personal income tax return) that is in thai.
  9. The Revenue Department is using an other concept, if you arrive today and leave tomorrow you stay only one day. At least this was the concept in 2015, when I had a long discussion bercause I was needing a RO22 (Certificate of fiscal Residence). After four inbound and outbound trips in my opinion (and immigration opinion) I stayed for 182 days, but the Revenue considered only 178 and did not give me the certificate.
  10. Sure you can, I am in your same situation and I registered myself uploding: - Standard set of Company documents with my name as director (DBD) - My passport page - Blue book I immediatelly have been approved and notified my arrival
  11. I got my Residence certificate right this morning. In the case it could be helpful for someone, these are the today requirements in Phuket : - To fill a request form availble at immigration - One assport size picture - Passport original - Copy of first page, present visa extension and last stamp of entry - TM6 (if available) - Screenshot printing of last residence notification In the case two certificates are needed, like for driving license, no need to duplicate the papers. 300 baht each certificate 15 minutes waiting time
  12. I do hope that many of the DTA of various countries are conceived like that one between my country (Italy) and Thailand. In my case I received the pension from my original country without any deduction, and I pay the taxes here in Thailand. Moreover the tax in Thailand is lower than the tax that I should pay in Italy. Before crying better to check the DTA applicable to each personal situation, maybe it could be very interesting .....
  13. I believe that these new changes are aimed above all at Thais who have financial activities abroad and who manage not to pay taxes. I believe that the importance of this problem for Thailand Government is much, much greater than ours. But we, in this forum, are focused on our personal problems as expats, and we discuss as if these innovations were created specifically to hit us and not with other objectives. Furthermore the treaties against double taxation that currently exist will be able to significantly alleviate or resolve the problem for us and, in some cases, even be favorable.
  14. Thanks, I did not know, so they should change the english version of article/section 41 that for the moment, in the official Revenue Department site (https://www.rd.go.th/english/37749.html) is still the old version.
  15. Do you have a reference about it ? I was still considering this version of article 41 : "A resident of Thailand who in the previous tax year derived assessable income under Section 40 from an employment or from business carried on abroad or from a property situated abroad shall, upon bringing such assessable income into Thailand, pay tax in accordance with the provisions of this Part."
  16. You should pay taxes only if you bring the money into Thailand in the same year you earned it.
  17. I put the house address after confirmation of the registration, under my account profile. And now, if I go to the page to register a new host, the address appears on the box at the left
  18. Yes, I did, and after the registration I put in my profile the address of the house, including latitude and longitude !!!
  19. Just to share my experience: I registered as manager of a thai company that owns the house, and used Chrome I uploded : Standard set of Company documents (DBD) two years old My passport page Blue book Immediately I received the email to confirm my email address and that is all.
  20. You have never tried to buy a house and settle in India, like I did. Every day to the lawyer, the notary, the chartered accountant, the company secretary, the telephone company, the tax office, the bank., etc To buy the gas bottle for the kichen, being foreigner (=potential terrorist), I had to go to the black market. The problems with immigration were perhaps a little sweeter, but after a few years I had to give up..... Here, from the point of view of bureaucratic problems, I feel like I'm in paradise ????
  21. You have been unlucky, but do not forget that it is a thai public administration site, not always working properly..... As said, I managed without any problem to get the appointment, and five minutes ago I connected at the second attempt :
  22. It looks that now it is possible again to fix the appointment online: https://gecc.dlt.go.th/dlt-Smartqueue I booked yesterday an appointment for the middle of October
  23. Maybe better to move here, and explain something more abot your situation : https://aseannow.com/forum/1-thai-visas-residency-and-work-permits/?_fromLogin=1#google_vignette
  24. If you like to have this analysis I would go to any internist doctor at Bangkok Hospital asking him to prescribe you the MRI. It shouldn't be so difficult.
