  1. What a crock, saint my arse, she did it for money theyre all to blame, there was a time when  it could  have been aborted and that would have been the most sensible course of action, as is often the case "sensible" and "religions"  dont go together

I agree with this, all are to blame. Who knows what was discussed prior to her becoming pregnant, we will probably never know the truth.

She is just shouting because she made the wrong decision and wants more money. Sadly the child will suffer because of it.

  2. I used the EEA FP to bring my wife to the UK via the Surrinder Singh route. I had to live in Ireland for a couple of months and we succeeded in getting the FP. I'm a British Citizen

The UKBA will smell a rat and will almost certainly refuse the FP initially even if you qualify. I also think there are new rules on dual nationality, I don't think you can just decide to not be a British citizen.

Also you have not lived in Ireland and would been seen to trying to use a right you are not entitled to.

But who knows the FP is free to apply for so can't hurt I guess.

  3. I would like to share our recent experience in obtaining a UK EEA Family Permit.

    I am a British Citizen.

Firstly I left Thailand to go and live in Ireland in early September, it took me about 3 weeks to find a decent job. Found lodgings in a house, as backpacker we doing my head in!

At the end of November I came back to Thailand to get married. Applied for a Join EU Spouse visa at the Dublin Embassy, it took about 1 week to issue with very minimal documents needed.

Both of us went to Ireland on the 6th December, moved into an apartment in Dublin got a joint rental agreement and Internet/Phone account.

On the 17th December submitted my wife's UK EEA Family Permit Application expecting everything to go through easy.

On the 7th January we go a letter stating that my time period in Ireland did not meet the qualifying period of regulation 9 of the 2006 EU immigration act.

So I looked up the act and in it there is no set time period for the EEA national to be in another member state, so I quickly started to write a complaint letter to the visa department at the Dublin embassy detailing their error, I emailed it and they responded in 2 days stating that an entry clearance manager had reviewed the application, and that we did meet the conditions of the act and will revoke the previous decision and issue the visa.

Now we are both on the UK I have a good job and she is looking for work.

I pays to complain if you believe you are right. My wife was only in Ireland for 11 days when we made our application and myself just over 3 months and we managed to bypass all of the immigration requirements.

  4. Hi everybody,

My new wife submitted her visa application at the Irish Consulate in Bangkok on the 27/11/13, the visa she applied for is a Join EU spouse resident in Ireland, the visa is free as I am from the UK but living and working in Dublin.

In the Invitation letter I quoted that I was exercising my EU Treaty Rights for my wife to come and live with me.

The only documents that were required as advised by the EU Treaty Department in Dublin were:

    1. Her passport.

    2. Copy of my passport.

3, Marriage certificate original & translated.

    4. Proof that I am resident in Ireland. I supplied a Pay Slip & Tax Credit notification.

In addition to the documents they requested, I also supplied these documents to show our relationship as we only got married yesterday:

    5. Many western union transfer receipts.

    6. Joint Thai Bank account.

My question is has anybody been through the same process with the Irish Consulate as me claiming EU Treaty Rights?

How long did they take to issue the visa as they are supposed to be issued promptly and take priority?

    Thanks

  5. I need to get a Thai marriage certificate translated into English, and legalised.

I know the MFA legalises English documents translated into Thai, but do they do it the other way round?

The Irish Embassy require a Marriage Certificate – evidence (apostilled document) that marriage has

been registered in applicant’s country of origin/residence to issue a visa.

    Thanks

  6. On the arrival card it clearly states visa number, all Thai visa's have a number attached to them.

I forgot before and nearly got the wrong stamp, it is your responsibility to ensure you fill out the arrival card properly, if you don't then you run the risk of being stamped in incorrectly!

Don't listen to Thai air they probably didn't understand, they never have to put a visa number.

  7. I want to buy some Golden Virginia in Bangkok can anybody give me some advice as where to buy it?

Next week I am flying to London and would be happy buying it at King Power duty free does anybody know how much it costs there?

    Thanks
