1. I

I have no sympathy this girl, she is 20 years old and not a child!

Why didn't she use insist on him using protection?

Why did she go with a 70 year old man?

She might of wanted to get pregnant, and told him she was on the pill who knows?

I suspect someone trying to get a free ride from farang and she should of known better, give up on any revenge or retribution, he has done nothing illegal and its not the Thai way, it will just make her look bad, and achieve nothing.

The best she can do is once the baby is born, inform him and hope he has some interest, otherwise forget it.

The OP is an obvious troll.

As far as your comment goes that he has done nothing wrong, one becomes of age when is 21 one in Thailand. A minor having reached a certain age can give consent, but that can change that after the fact. There are also a few other laws that might be invoked in a case like this, such as keeping a minor away from her parents.

I think you will find the age of consent in Thailand is 18 years old and no parents consent is required, if over 16 and under 18 and the parents do not have any objection then its considered a private matter.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Asia#Thailand

The current law is open to interpretation and it could be 15 or 18, but for sure there has been no offense committed.

  3. wife should be able to get a loan if she owns condo.. my gf just bought a new fiesta and took her mums book for the house and she got the car

How did she obtain the car finance? What deposit was required? What company was it with? (I am very interested because I have had no luck anywhere)

Car finance has always been easier to obtain in any country due to the easiness of repossessing the vehicle, now doing this with a condo is a different matter.

  4. I am no expert but it might be worth considering using off shore branch of a Thailand bank to obtain a mortgage on one of his properties. I am sure there are other members on this website that can provide more input than me.

The interest rate will be higher than Thailand, and there might be early settlement charges, I just don't know enough about it, but your chances of obtaining finance in Thailand are very low indeed without a work permit and due to your age.

  5. From my own personal experience, I consider True to be a very unprofessional provider of all services, they do not have any structured complaints procedure, and if they can't figure out how to fix something which could easily be fixed, say sorry cannot & they are very short staffed on English speaking customer services operators, it took me 4 days to speak to someone.

    Avoid Truemove like the plague!

I am now a TOT customer and am very happy, I have not had any need to complain and cannot foresee any.

  6. I have been riding my motorbike in Bangkok for 3 years, and I agree with you I don't understand why it is not allowed, I asked my previous school principle and he could only give me the answer it is forbidden.

But really I can't see a reasonable explanation why, possible reasons are if a motorbike breaks down or is involved in an accident then help would be harder to provide, but this is Thailand and nobody really cares about some motorcyclist, I think it just comes down to making rules where rules are not required, and also many times I have gone over the bridge and guess what there is a policeman ready and waiting to collect a fine, well on many occasion I have just drove of, but I have had to stop on a couple of occasions.

But nowadays I am extra vigilant for police because corruption is rife and I refuse to pay anything, if I simply must stop, I will talk very quickly in English and he eventually understands I am not going to pay, and is missing out on many other Thai's that are more than willing to pay, corruption in Thailand will not stop until the Thai people stand up to it and say enough is enough, but this will not happen in my lifetime.

  7. I cannot believe you purchased something from Thaivisa classifieds and didn't go and collect it and pay and collect the goods at the same time. You don't have any protection that the likes of ebay or Paypal provide.

This will be a lesson well learnt and I doubt you will get any money back at all once the police have got involved, I will be suprised if they even do a proper investigation for just 10,000 baht, also the bank account has most probably been high jacked, or opened with a fake id card.

  8. Even if your a falang, it can come down to the colour of your skin. If you are Black or of Indian decent, lots of options go out the window, including most jobs. I don't agree with this but its just the way it is in Thailand. There will never be any race discrimination laws in Thailand in any of our lifetimes.

My British born friend, but his family originally come from India. He could only get into a couple of Go Go bars at Nana, nearly 90% turned him away even though he had his British passport!

  9. I am pretty sure the op doesn't need a new passport to return to his country of citizenship. I know 100% that a British passport is valid for travel home no matter how old it is. I think the same applies to many countries. Even if your passport expires your still a lawful citizen, most airlines will allow you to travel but it is best to check before booking.

  10. I need legal advice,

last year in July my Thai wife purchased a post pay iPack plus from Truemove.

The terms and conditions of my package state I get:

    Unlimited 3G data

    Uncapped speed upto 7.2mbps

    Unlimited Wi-Fi

    Unlimited Edge

    350 minutes & 400 Messages

Up until 2 weeks ago I did not have any problems, but now I can only download at 256kbps, I called Truemove on many occasions, and they tell me they know I am on the unlimited pack but they cannot give me the unlimited 3G anymore and cannot explain why.

I am now at the end of my teather with Truemove, what action can I take against them.

    Thanks

  11. The test in France is complicated for a reason, they drive like nutters there just like Bangkok if not more so and the penalties for driving badly and accidents are much worse than here in Thailand, you would be better of doing things the correct way, including her learning the french language, the French people generally shun the English language and if you wife was to be involved in an accident or encounter any problems would you not want her to be prepared?

Hardly any country will exchange the Thai licence if any.
I have a theroy that this is an end of month issue, may be True have exceeded there quota for bandwidth, and are restricting there downloads until the 1st June.

Did your theory prove to be correct? (Maybe you have to wait until your next billing cycle, ~ 6 June?)

I am still on slow speed!

After many phone calls to customer service and a visit to there head office on Ratachada, and then a visit to True shop at Fortune, I am finally getting somewhere.

A very nice lady at True shop, first checked my current package and confirmed as per my terms & conditions my 3G is unlimited in volume & speed, confirming what I already knew, then she called the technical department and asked why I was getting slow speed they checked on a different system not available to True shop staff and it now shows that I am subject to the fair usage policy, but they couldn't confirm when this took effect just that it was in effect now.

I am only 10 months into my contract.

I then explained that if my terms & conditions say its unlimited then why am I being subjected to the fair use policy, so now I have to wait until Monday after she has contacted the head of the technical department to try and get this sorted.

I know someone at True has got it in for me because I am downloading heaps & heaps of data, more data than 30 new customers per month, but my terms & conditions say I don't have a limit on speed or volume.

  13. I am sorry to have to tell you that Cat Evdo CDMA, will be discontinued soon or not maintained/managed, due to Truemoves national 3G roll out with cat.

Do not expect 100% network service or customer service.

  14. And did you notice that the Israeli police had tracked him down and tipped off the Thai authorities?

and the fact they are deporting him to Israel not back to belgium, where the said crime was committed

Exactly...... the man should be sent to and put on trial in Belgium, not Israel. In fact <deleted> how are the Israeli government/police able to bring him back to Israel and not let him stand trial for a crime he committed in Belgium.. The usual double standards that usually come from there.

I am pretty sure that international law requires the defendant to extradited to the country where the crime was committed, if not then all charges are null and void for extradition from any other country, of course if he goes back to Belgium, then he can be arrested, but you cannot be extradited twice for the same offence!

  15. Did you first have an iPhone 3G or 3GS, then purchase an iPhone? Did you have the 599 Basic Package? If not, why include the Q&A?

You said your contract started last June (2010), so it would have ended May, 2011 and then you would have been subject to a change in plan, at True's choice. Now it seems like your contract has a somewhat unusual term, (is that Oct 2, or Feb. 10?), so yes, they should honor it. However, they may have the option to limit usage based on extraordinary circumstances, best to review the written contract. I must say that 50 GB/20 GB is unusually high for a mobile broadband application, and that your account is probably on somebody's radar screen at True. While it is not your responsibility, you're using the bandwidth allocated for 15 other users, so one could understand why True might want to slow you to 256 Kbps. Further proof as to why they are losing money, and everyone else is experiencing potential capacity issues.

Regarding the 3G indicators, typically at idle a display might show "3G" or "WCDMA", then switch to "HSPA" when data use has begun, and "HSDPA" when downloading. There are a limited number of time-slots available for use, so that can affect performance. Maybe your neighbor is also downloading 50 GB per month? Signal strength can vary with distance, weather and in-building location.

In the Apple sub-forum here there is a thread re: True and tethering issues. Assuming you are tethering maybe you are experiencing similar issues?

I am using a Truemove aircard.

It is 10 Feb 2012, and I agree it is an unusual contract end date, I did not buy an iPhone, but they had a promotion at the time 699 baht if you didn't buy the iPhone and you get unlimited data with no restrictions, the man at True I spoke to confirmed that the same conditions apply to my package as the 599 baht iPhone pack, mine is just 100 baht more to cover their lost revenue for me not buying the iPhone, I don't have a written contract detailing exactly what the individual package details, when my wife signed up to True it was a 3 page yellow pre-printed carbon copy, and it only says iPhone pack 699 baht. My wife read the terms on it and they are generic to any package.

And you are incorrect about the HSPA & HSDPA, they are 2 different protocols, HSPA is an upgrade on HSDPA can download at 7.2mbps and therotical upload of 5.76mbps, but True only supports 2mbps at the moment & HSDPA can download at 7.2mbps & upload at 384kbps, before yesterday I have been downloading and uploading, and it always said HSPA, it never reverted to HSDPA, previously when I used my TOT 3G sim it only said HSDPA, because TOT don't support HSPA.

My signal strength is maximum, since June last year my average monthly download has been about 50GB+ per month, and this is the first time I am having a problem.

I have a theroy that this is an end of month issue, may be True have exceeded there quota for bandwidth, and are restricting there downloads until the 1st June.

  16. OK, thanks. they will honor truly unlimited 3G data for you until your 12 month contract is up, so presumably this month? At that point they'll transition you to a fair-use policy. The current 699 post-paid plan (My Way) only gives 1 GB/ of 3G per month.

There is a post-paid "Ready" plan, Smartphone, 649 baht, which gives unlimited 3G per month, subject to fair-use; 3 GB --> 256 Kbps.

I suspect your contract expired in the past few days, and that you've been transitioned to a different plan, maybe th 1 GB one, and you've exceeded that limit and are being speed restricted. I would recommend a visit to a True shop.

I checked with *9000 and my next bill date is the 6th June, and my internet only started running slowly yesterday, already this month I have downloaded 50gb and uploaded about 30gb, and I checked with true they said my contract will continue, with no restrictions on download speeds, and a manager confirmed the 699 IPhone pack I am on is eligable to continue.

I just checked my bill and it says "Price Plan Monthly fee iPhone package 699 Bt/mth Expired 10/02/2012 at 00:00:01" so it looks like I have until then to continue on the same pack with the same conditions.

faqs_q.pngWill iPhone 3G and 3GS customers who currently use the 599 Basic Package be affected when they purchase the iPhone 4? faqs_a.png iPhone 3G and 3GS customers can retain their subscription to the 599 Basic Package when they purchase the iPhone 4 (device with option to choose existing or new promotion). If they choose to use their existing promotion (599 Basic Package) with the iPhone 4, they will not be subject to the Fair Usage Policy.

  18. If you are going to do a DIY visa run, yes buy a Evisa online, it will cost $25 and will save you money and time at the border.

When I went in January, I went down the hallway that leads to the Immigration counter and a Immigration official said, you have visa, and I said yes Evisa, and he said 300baht, and I said no way I have the visa, I will not pay anything. He didn't press the matter and even lent me a pen, and gave me the arrival & departure forms.

The most important thing that all of us should do in these situations is politely hold our ground!

There are hotels on both sides and in no mans zone, I haven't stayed at any of them, but have heard that the Thai side hotels are better quality.
