  1. I see all the usual the bitter old gits are out again! What's up... your favourite bar not open yet?
  2. Buriram is not F1 certified, and would require considerable changes to meet the FIA requirements. Newin said right from the off, he never intended it to host F1, as it was never worth the investment. Thailand will never host an F1 race.
  3. A lot of bitter people here. You sound like one of them. I've been visiting for over 25 years, and never (knowingly/intentionally) broken the law.
  4. Exactly this! I stay 4-6 months, depending on both the weather at home, and when I arrive in Thailand, and doing that with just a single death defying visa run was bliss. I tend to spend £2-3k a month during my stay. I don't rob people, I don't beat people up, I don't set up rogue businesses, and don't help anyone else do those things. I do like to sit on the beaches and eat in restaurants a lot though. Numpties!
  5. Imagine not being able to go a day without alcohol! Some people really need to seek help!
  6. It's hot and sunny 10 months of the year, and mangos are cheap! 🤣🤣🤣
  7. Why, is she an alcoholic? I've never understood the attraction of daytime drinking. Mind you, I'm not much of a drinker at all since my 20s & early 30s partying era. It's all a bit sad when you're devastated it's a dry day, or can't get a drink in the afternoon.
  8. Yes, you can. But it's more expensive. I've done it for my last 3 trips, which I've extended by 2 or 3 months each. There are a handful of specialist companies that will provide cover, typically for digital nomads and the like.
  9. No excuse. I've overstayed my insurance for the last 3 visits, and taken out additional cover each time. It's more expensive to take out cover while you're already away, and limited to specialist companies, but such is life. Every "annual multi-trip" i can remember has been limited to 30 days per trip too, so if staying longer, you need different cover. It really isn't rocket science. There's no excuse, and no sympathy, for being uninsured.
  10. Yeah... you lost me at "no insurance/go fund me". No need to read any further.
  11. It was the whole experience, including the transit at Delhi. If I never have to set foot in that horrid country in a thousand years, it would be a day too soon! Ironically, I've never found Indians I've come across in the UK to ever be anything but polite and courteous, but those I encountered that day were a stain on the nation. When I see questions like "worst airline you've ever flown?", or "somewhere you'd never visit (again)?", my immediate thought is India, without hesitation!
  12. I once flew Air India from LHR to BKK, about 20 years ago. It was so horrendous I never showed up for the return, and booked a different airline. (There weren't any no-show charges back then!) You couldn't pay me to get on an Air India flight ever again.
  13. I'm still convinced the Thai government think F1 pay them the billions of baht it will cost to host a race! 🤣🤣🤣 Eye-watering, what Singapore costs! https://dollarsandsense.sg/cost-singapore-host-f1/
  14. Approved by the government. I suspect the FIA are still laughing about it today!
  15. Happy for "over a decade", and disgusted over one transaction? Really, unless it's to pay your bail, what's the problem?! It happens sometimes! I've been using them since 2012, and sometimes it's been an hour or four, usually the transfer's in the bank before the app's had time to go through it's "received your money/sending to destination" animations, and once in a blue moon might take a day or two. If you're living hand-to-mouth and transferring when you run out of cash, I might suggest just being a bit more organised... or set up your own international transfer company, and see how easy it is to deal with some financial institutions!
  16. No sympathy for druggies whatsoever, particularlythose who partake in SE Asia. Been done before in Denmark too, apparently. He got what was coming to him. Moron.
  17. Totally different! I worked in Florida in the 90s, and all the parks (and many clubs) charged out-of-state visitors (and us foreigners) more. I simply simply popped into the DMV and got a Florida ID card, and never once paid "outsider" prices again. They didn't charge extra based on nationality/skin colour, it was simply "from out of state? Pay full price". If Thailand employed similar standards, it wouldn't be an issue. (Any) tourists paying more than "locals", including foreigners living/working in the same province, wouldn't be a problem for me. Thai prices should go up a little, and foreigner prices down a little, in my personal opinion. If you have a valid form of Thai ID (and are local to the attraction), you pay local price.
  18. Never understood those who support dual pricing. You must have a very low opinion of yourselves! It's most certainly not the cost; it's just a few hundred baht at most... it's the principle.
  19. We've had at least one MX-5 in the family since 1999 (up to three at one point!), and they're fantastic little cars! Our "original" 1989 has never, and I mean never broken down. All it's had is brake pads, spark plugs, oil/filters, a battery and a set of plug leads in the 25 years we've had it. It's currently on 220,000kms.
  20. Why? Really, the dumbest are those who argue for "their" side, and against those who disagree. Smart people keep their politics to themselves.
  21. Culture really is the wrong word sometimes. I've seen more culture in my fridge at times!
  22. Tokens, paid for by card/phone, eventually. And really, what's to stop any coin operated machine currently being manufactured from being made with a contactless option from now on? I expect they're already a thing in some countries.
