  1. Yeah, cos the guard wouldn't have had a phone himself! 🙄
  2. I wonder if all the miserable old b*ggers moaning on this topic ever enjoyed late nights out in their younger days... or were always this miserable?
  3. Could've sworn we were told he was fine a week ago or so... right around the time the photo of him in the pool with his grandkid was leaked. Still. Nothing to do with us. It's the Thais that [should probably] need to be up in arms, but that'll never happen.
  4. This would make sense... but in 25 years, I don't think I've ever seen anything here that makes sense! One-way north-to-south on that stretch on Buakhaow. It wouldn't hurt to be one-way on Soi 13 onto Buakhao and Soi Lengkee off to Third Road too. (Not suggesting Third Road should be one-way... just can't be arsed to go back and edit my image.)
  5. Just stopped by to add my laughing emoji to the OP. I see 39 have been here already!
  6. Just look at his bank account for a large deposit right around the time of the alleged offence.... Job done! ???? Of course though, he's telling the truth.... so really no need to doubt his statement, is there?! ????????
  7. Me too... but I guess The Night of the Living Dead doesn't count?! ????????????
  8. Because Thai law says you cannot defame any person/business, even when they're in the wrong, let alone before cause & fault are officially attributed. Of course, this tends to be rather selectively appied, just like every other law in Thailand, but they do often tend to come down hard on "foreign" news vendors when reporting on Thais/Thai businesses. I imagine the condo's owned by a wealthy family.
  9. Why didn't a dozen tourists jump in and kick the cr*p out of one of them? Or would that be taking a job away from the locals?
  10. OK, yeah, that may have happened once or twice, but it was between friends! ???? I honestly can't remember the last time I accidentally spilt something on a stranger. My hedonistic pubbing/clubbing days were the 80s/90s, so I reckon it was a good 25 years ago, and almost certinly ended up with me buying them a drink by way of apology.
  11. anticipate ăn-tĭs′ə-pāt″ intransitive verb To see as a probable occurrence; expect. To think of (a future event) with pleasure; look forward to. To deal with beforehand; act so as to mitigate, nullify, or prevent: synonym: expect.
  12. If I drink alcohol I don't pour it all over those around me and send them home stinking.
  13. Oh, I remember that well. I arrived in 2000, and the Baht was around 65/1, and slowly and steadily dropping against the Pound. The best exchange rates just happened to coincide with my peak partying years! Almost ฿76/£1 in mid-2005, and you're right, things were substantially cheaper back then too. I spend about £15k over 6 months over the 22-23 winter. Thailand's certainly not cheap anymore.
  14. And many of them don't even use those! No word of a lie, I have seen Thais come out of 7-Eleven, open something, and whilst stood next to the bin, throw the wrapper on the ground and walk off.
  15. I prefer my safety these days. My reactions and awareness isn't as sharp as it was when I was last on track. It's a shame a few more can't be as honest with themselves.... might live a bit longer. Thankfully I don't need to worry too much about paying more for fuel than milk.... and I drink gallons of the stuff! ???????????? I also prefer to walk wherever I can, for the exercise. I still keep my bike in the UK, and will never sell it... had it for 28 years now, and fully restored it, but rarely use it even though [as bad as they are] the roads in the UK are infinitely better than Thailand. I just got older and wiser. Nice open top sports car these days for a similar feeling when I want it.
  16. When I was 17 I wrote my 125 off riding like a typical teenager numpty down a county lane. I broke my collar bone, grazed all up one side of my body (I was wearing half decent clothing... but in fairness, protective gear still wasn't great back in the 80s), and a fibreglass full-face helmet. When I was presented with the helmet from the scene a couple of days later, the road rash on it went from the bottom-left of the chin guard, right around the face, across the visor, and around the back... basically covering 2/3 of the lid! I can't understand anyone even wearing an open face lid, let alone none at all. "Helmets" I see people wearing in Thailand are laughable... I always used to take my Arai with me, but I gave up riding in Thailand several years ago, as the traffic is even more horrific now than ever.
  17. In this day and age, how do you actually forget anything? Whichever device you've just posted this on has a calendar.... try setting a reminder! Ir's not rocket science! Google Calendar, Samsung Calendar... I'm sure Apple will have an equivalent.... Really?! ????????????
  18. I'd say 95% (made up statistic) of YouTubers are tossers, rising to 99% in Thailand. I wouldn't even give them the satisfaction of the title "creator". They do all indeed, need to get a real job!
  19. Agreed. Even if it was only a replica/BB gun that you see in all the markets, to the average Joe, who's never handled a gun, let alone ever had one pointed at them, it must have been horrendously traumatic. I hope it get plastered all over social media/new sites. Not only is Pattaya way out of control, but so is most of this forum these days, it seems.
  20. Nothing unfortunate about the dog's death. Cue all the dangerous breeds advocates saying how they're just misunderstood. ????
  21. Even Mrs. Sabaidee says "one step away from China, two steps away from [North] Korea! Thailand will never change"! ????
  22. Took one look at his photo, and two words sprang to mind.... GROW UP! Zero sympathy.
  23. I was just about to post something... then I saw the badge over your name. ????
