Indian passengers turn Thai AirAsia plane into party zone - video
sabai-dee-man replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It was the whole experience, including the transit at Delhi. If I never have to set foot in that horrid country in a thousand years, it would be a day too soon! Ironically, I've never found Indians I've come across in the UK to ever be anything but polite and courteous, but those I encountered that day were a stain on the nation. When I see questions like "worst airline you've ever flown?", or "somewhere you'd never visit (again)?", my immediate thought is India, without hesitation! -
Indian passengers turn Thai AirAsia plane into party zone - video
sabai-dee-man replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I once flew Air India from LHR to BKK, about 20 years ago. It was so horrendous I never showed up for the return, and booked a different airline. (There weren't any no-show charges back then!) You couldn't pay me to get on an Air India flight ever again. -
Thailand’s first F1 race planned for Bangkok’s Chatuchak by 2027
sabai-dee-man replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I'm still convinced the Thai government think F1 pay them the billions of baht it will cost to host a race! 🤣🤣🤣 Eye-watering, what Singapore costs! https://dollarsandsense.sg/cost-singapore-host-f1/ -

WISE....Beware !
sabai-dee-man replied to kalasiner's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Happy for "over a decade", and disgusted over one transaction? Really, unless it's to pay your bail, what's the problem?! It happens sometimes! I've been using them since 2012, and sometimes it's been an hour or four, usually the transfer's in the bank before the app's had time to go through it's "received your money/sending to destination" animations, and once in a blue moon might take a day or two. If you're living hand-to-mouth and transferring when you run out of cash, I might suggest just being a bit more organised... or set up your own international transfer company, and see how easy it is to deal with some financial institutions! -
Danish Prisoner in Thailand Warns Against Drug Crimes

No sympathy for druggies whatsoever, particularlythose who partake in SE Asia. Been done before in Denmark too, apparently. He got what was coming to him. Moron. -
Dual Pricing in Thai Tourism: Economic Necessity or Hidden Bias?
sabai-dee-man replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Totally different! I worked in Florida in the 90s, and all the parks (and many clubs) charged out-of-state visitors (and us foreigners) more. I simply simply popped into the DMV and got a Florida ID card, and never once paid "outsider" prices again. They didn't charge extra based on nationality/skin colour, it was simply "from out of state? Pay full price". If Thailand employed similar standards, it wouldn't be an issue. (Any) tourists paying more than "locals", including foreigners living/working in the same province, wouldn't be a problem for me. Thai prices should go up a little, and foreigner prices down a little, in my personal opinion. If you have a valid form of Thai ID (and are local to the attraction), you pay local price. -
Dual Pricing in Thai Tourism: Economic Necessity or Hidden Bias?
sabai-dee-man replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Never understood those who support dual pricing. You must have a very low opinion of yourselves! It's most certainly not the cost; it's just a few hundred baht at most... it's the principle. -

KO tragedy: British boxing hopeful’s final round in Pattaya hotel

Wow! Really someone to look up to... not! -
We stayed in a resort on Koh Kood recently that cost more, and didn't even have a TV in the room. The aircon was unavailable during the day, the restaurant was closed by 8pm, and you could hear a pin drop in the resort by 9pm. The eco approach was made quite clear before we booked though, and I don't have a problem with it in the slightest. ฿4200 a night doesn't entitle you to freebies to be wasteful with, if the policy has been made clear. ฿20 to discourage one-time use of an item you'd normally replace every 4-6 months is hardly a catastrophe, but maybe the policy wasn't clear? I'm no eco warrior, far from it, but I don't mind doing my bit.... even though in reality, I doubt it's making a blind bit of difference! Seems to be a lot of tightarses on this thread.

Same guest probably thought nothing of paying ฿400 to get into some national park though. However, it sounds a bit like the manager could've been translating their comments from Thai into English before posting. That may explain some of the presumed arrogance. Personally I don't think it's a bad idea at all to charge for a toothbrush. In fact, I think the charge should be more like ฿80-100, to discourage plastic waste, but charges should be made very clear. Don't want to pay ฿100? Pop to the 7-Eleven and buy one for ฿10. But really, who doesn't travel without their toothbrush?

7 Types of Used Cars to Avoid in Thailand
sabai-dee-man replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
We've had at least one MX-5 in the family since 1999 (up to three at one point!), and they're fantastic little cars! Our "original" 1989 has never, and I mean never broken down. All it's had is brake pads, spark plugs, oil/filters, a battery and a set of plug leads in the 25 years we've had it. It's currently on 220,000kms. -
Erm... yes, fine with me... I'm in agreement with you! It's very unlikely, though not impossible, for diesel to simply ignite on contact with a hot surface.

Phuket taxi driver hits foreign man on airport zebra crossing
sabai-dee-man replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Yes, exactly this! Even at a light-controlled crossing, even if a car stops, always look left for the tw*t on a motorbike coming the wrong way, and check the second/each consecutive lane before stepping past the stopped vehicle, because the majority of time the car in the next lane wont stop! -
Well in that case I'd expect you know all about HSI, and the properties of diesel fuel.
