Going to Savannakhet to apply for a non imm O based on marriage next Wednesday. Presuming its going to be pretty busy as it is the first day open after the break. Can anyone recommend a good place to stay in Savannakhet? Apologies if this is the incorrect forum.

So Savannakhet will be open on the 19th? Seems it could be busy.

Hello, I will be going to Savannakhet soon to apply for a second non immigrant O visa based on marriage. Since my first successful application 15 months ago my wife has changed her address on her id card. The copy of the house papers she sent me has the front page (with the new address) and what are I assume her parents names and the page with her name which still has the old address. Should the page with her name have the new address shown or is it only listed on the front page normally? Sorry for the silly question, I just dont want any problems when I apply.

The only thing I would comment on is that the Consulate in Savannakhet were demanding anyone applying for a 90 day tourist visa to Thailand showed evidence of 20,000 baht.

This slowed things down (in terms of waiting to lodge my application) as many people applying for tourist visa were arguing with the staff about this change.

But for the Non-O multi entry, no proof of funds were required still.

Did you have to show every page of the Blue book or only the page with your wife's name on it? What time did you get there? Cheers)))

I will be going to Savannakhet to apply for a fresh non immigrant O visa based on marriage to a thai next month. I received a multi entry non O 14 months ago. Since then my wife has changed her address on her id card and house papers. (tabian baan).  I have a copy of such. Will this present a problem in any way on applying? Thanks in advance.

My non Imm O visa shows an "enter before" date of 3 feb 2017. My last stamp has an "Admitted until" date of 23rd Jan 2017. I wish to go out of Thailand and re-enter next week. So, if I re enter Thailand on the 19th of January I assume I will be given another 3 month stamp until approx 18th April. If I leave and re enter thailand again on the 3rd Feb will I be given a further 3 month stay until approx 3rd May 2017?

Formally a travel agent. Probably taking some premium for helping with the border pass?

I remember it was 100 Baht then?

We are entering via Nong Khai, not Mudkahan. Now I am confused. I thought we could arrive at the border, the border passes would be issued to the thai id card holder almost immediately and we could cross into laos the same day. Is this not right?

Thx Steve, we will be getting the bus from Udon Thani airport, if we don't have the passport for my son, may have to get a border pass for him....I dont quite understand your post regarding the buses.

A 3 day border pass can be applied for  entry to Laos for about 50 baht by showing their ID cards.

Apologies if this is the incorrect Forum. I hear different answers to this question so Im wondering if anyone knows definitively:

My thai wife and child (from Udon Thani) wish to join me in going to Vientianne via Nong Khai Friendship Bridge. My question is, can they cross into Laos on their thai id cards, and if so, what is the procedure, and, if they use their passports, are they required to get a Laos visa at the border at a cost of approx 1500 per visa? Thanks for any info.

You are aware it is much better to transfer foreign currency into Thailand and let the bank here do the conversion to Baht?  There would be a very poor rate of exchange outside Thailand.  Also there will be a change of 1/4% normally in range 200-500 baht when received at bank here.

I pay tax in australia. The money is a gift.

Excuse the silly question, but my friend is transferring 25,000 baht to me into a Thai bank account in Thailand from an overseas bank. Do I have to pay tax on this money?

From memory, your wife just uses her passport, visa free entry, possibly a small "service fee" on the Lao side. Your child will need a border pass good for 3 days, 2 nights, cheap. Make sure you have proof with you of the child's relationship to you and your wife. You, of course, will need a Lao visa, cheaper if paid for in US$.

Not sure this is the correct forum.  Im an Australian, going to Vientianne, Laos next week. My Thai wife and child (thai) wish to come with me. My wife has a thai passport. Please advise:

1. What documents are required for her and the child to enter Laos and if a Laos visa is required for them.

2. Any approximate costs associated with this.

50 baht from Nong Khai to Udon Central Festival. Under the tent. When you walk back from the border is it on the right side near the restaurants and visa services. Ask around they will show you where.

No doubt you can get from Central to Nong Bua.

Unsure if this is the right place to post. Any advice on getting from the friendship bridge to Udon Thani bus station? Actually I want to get to Nong bua lamphu but I figure I can get there from the bus station in Udon thani. Any advice appreciated.

A friend is Russian, married to a Russian, living in Thailand. Their son was born in Thailand, 8 months old now, holds a Russian passport. What are the child's options in regard to a Thai visa? The parents are here on tourist visas I believe. thanks for any advice.

Advice please! I obtained a new passport from the Australian embassy today as my old pp is full. My old pp contains a double entry tourist visa - I am due to go to immigration next Monday to apply for a 30 day extension. The details havent been transferred into the new pp as I just got it. Today I lost the old pp on the way home - it has been cancelled, cut etc. I have a letter from the embassy confirming it has been cancelled plus photocopies of the main page of my old pp and the current entry stamps and visa plus white TR card. I still have the new pp. What can I do? When I go to immigration on Monday whats likely to happen? Thanks.
