If you have a multiple entry non-o visa issued by a embassy or consulate you can have your stamps transferred on departure from the country.
I believe this can be done at the friendship bridge border to Vientiane, my question is, if I arrive at this border before 8am will they do it at the immigration office immediately on the left hand side of the immigration counters (as you leave Thailand), or will I have to do it somewhere else, such as the offices in Nong Khai? And if I arrive after 9am, same situation?

My Thai wife wants to do a border crossing with me at nong khai into Laos. If she uses her passport, will she have to enter into laos before being allowed back into Thailand? She basically just wants to cross the bridge while i do a visa hop. How about with id card?

However, note that it seems that, depending on your goal and nationality, a visa on arrival might be cheaper than an eVisa. For example, for US citizens, it appears that an eVisa is $50, while a visa on arrival is $35.
True im saving $15 however I need to save a page in my passport which is why an evisa is better in my case.

i can confirm you get a small sticker,I did anyway
Sticker in your passport? Half page?

There will be no full page sticker. As I wrote in your other topic there have been reports of a sticker not being done.
Be sure you use this site. https://laoevisa.gov.la/apply
Yes. Avoid the non official sites. They charge exorbitant prices.

Can now obtain an evisa online for Laos. Can anyone confirm that with the new evisa, we do not have one page of our passports covered by a Lao visa stamp?

That is certainly not the official website. It is a bogus rip off site.
Easy to be suckered in. Even the cost displayed on screen is quite inconspicuous and easy to miss. Thanks for the input on this.

Why is showing the amount in Euro? Are you selecting it or is it doing it automatically?
Seems that I have been trying a different website, not the one you mentioned. My mistake. Don't know what this one is but seems to charge more. https://www.laosevisa.com/

To me it it seems that paying $15 US might be well worth the money to avoid the wait to apply for a VOA when entering Laos and saving one page in your passport.
If you don't have the $30 US and pay 1500 baht for the VOA on entry that is about a 600 baht ($19.00) savings which pays for the $15 e visa fee.
Very true. The problem is that it seems to want to charge me 86 euro for one visa. Tried it several times and the same charge appears. Wonder if others have had the same issue.

That looks like it is the fee for 2 visas. For a visa for a Australian it would be $45 US that comes out to 40.67 euro at today's rates.
From this webpage. https://laoevisa.gov.la/fee-calculator
Maybe the bank charges a large fee.
Interesting. 50% more than the fee charged at the border for a Laos visa for Australians which is $30US (or $31 on weekends) if paid in US currency. If paid in THB it is higher again.

Be careful! When doing a border run fom Vietnam I was turned right back around in Vientiane because they saw I wouldn't have the page available for my reentry into Vietnam. (AND they expected me to pay for the additional flight back—couldn't transfer my existing return flight.)
If you didn't have the page for a reentry stamp I think they were right. No?

I did the e-visa thing online (one obtains an eVisa approval letter you download and print), crossed at the Friendship Bridge and presented my passport and the approval letter, and still got a full-page Visa sticker. Presuming that's still the case, then the full page the OP has left will be used, leaving the one partial page remaining for the Laos "in" and "out" stamps and the Thai "in" and "out" Thai stamps. Again, presuming that's still the case, the OP has essentially used up all his passport space. While that could work if the two immigrations use the space left on the partial page conservatively, what happens if the OP needs to quickly exit Thailand (before getting a new passport) and there's no space left for any stamp? Might be wise for the OP to get his new passport now.
Seems like the online visa is well over priced. After entering all details carefully and correctly for an australian the following cost came up???????? Normally costs $30 US at the border.

You can get a Lao visa online now. You can use it a the Savannakhet and Vientiane entry points. See: https://laoevisa.gov.la/index
That would avoid having a full page visa sticker for a fee of $15 above the normal visa fee you pay.
After that entry you would need a new passport.
Must be a fairly new thing. That's good news. I perused the site but couldn't find out payment methods. Has anyone got one before? Wonder if one needs a credit card or it can be paid for via online banking through a thai bank account?

Going on a 3 monthly border bounce end of Jan. Non o multi. Basically have 1.75 pages left (see attached). Last page for the Laos visa, second last page Laos in and out and Thai out and in stamps. Last page has some ink marks from the personal data page opposite but figure they will put the Laos visa on this page. Do I have enough space to come back into Thailand or time for a new passport?

If the immigration office is closed they will do it at the bridge.
Excuse my stupidity but im confused. This means I can only do it at the border if the immigration office is closed? Where exactly is the immigration office?
-

It can be done at Nong Khai but they will send you back to the immigration offices near the bridge get it done if the office is open.
They will transfer the entry stampy in your old passport to the new one and do a annotation about your visa in it.
You will have to use both passports on entry to use the non-o visa in your old passport.
Thank you. So I assume from this I can get it done at the border near the exit/entry points during normal working hours?

Good morning. Obtaining a new aussie pp soon. Currently on non imm o me, stamped in till January 26th 2020. My question is, can I get the details transfered into my new pp at the border post in Nong Khai (friendship bridge to Laos)? And, if so precisely where? Will the io do it on leaving the country, is there an adjoining office or do I have to go to Nong Khai or Udon Thani to get it done? Am I better off going to Chaeng Wattana to get it done beforehand? Thanks for any advice.

Hi everyone. Obtained a work permit for teaching last week. The wp details the location Bangkok and my place of work. If I work at a language centre other than the one mentioned in my work permit what may the ramifications be if visited by the authorities? Im getting mixed advice about this from, it would be no problem as rules changed a year or so ago to, I would get a warning or, I would lose my wp and deported.

Currently on a non o me. Just been granted a work permit. When my current non o expires (next September), am I able to go and apply for a fresh non o me (I am married to a thai), and, will having a work permit be considered when applying for the non o? Basically I want to keep my non o visa status going in case for any reason I lose my work permit.

You’re right.
But it would be better to extend your stay based as a spouse/parent than on your work. That way you’re permit to stay is unaffected should you stop work or change jobs. You can apply for a 1 year stay at the end of any 90 day entry. You don’t need to wait until the visa has expired.
So basically the wp and non o visa are two completely separate things. Obtaining the wp does not have any effect on my visa. Is this right?

You certainly do not need to worry about 90 day reports since your non-o visa only allows a 90 days stay.
Typically with a multiple entry non-o visa you would only need to do a TM30 report if you wanted to do something at immigration.
There is no daily fine for not doing a TM30 report. It is a maximum fine of 2000 baht. Most offices only fine people 800 baht for not doing one within 24 hours of arrival at your residence.
To get a certificate of residency you will certainly need a TM30 report at most offices.
I suggest your wife complete a TM30 form. Then both of you go to immigration to file it and get your certificate.of residency.
Best your wife takes copies of her house book registry and ID card with her. And your marriage certificate to prove your relationship to her.
Noted. Just as a side query, would a tm30 be required at any stage of applying or afterward for a work permit while on a non imm o me visa?
-
In the process of applying for a wp. Currently have me non imm o visa which is valid till June 2020. Assuming my work permit goes through, my understanding is that I can continue to do visa hops every 3 months hence keeping my visa valid and then, when the visa expires, extend the visa for 1 year using my work permit, or, go and apply for a new multi entry non o visa at savannakhet for example so as to avoid the need to leave the country immediately if the company or I decide to relinquish the work permit. My understanding may be wrong. Any clarification would be appreciated.

For the OP........Savannakhet knocked you back on a multi because your documents were "scanned and printed rather than photocopied"? Wow. I find this unusual. Which documents were they?
