  1. The Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt may be closed or have highly restricted access for long periods and is subject to change at short notice. It has been closed for a significant period due to the Gaza conflict and can be subjected to attacks, including air strikes

  3. Israel doesn't allow any foreigners except doctors or nurses to enter Gaza.
  4. EU Council President António Costa demanded that Israel halt its military operations, while also calling on Hamas to release all remaining hostages immediately. He emphasized that only a two-state solution could bring lasting peace to the region. Echoing Costa's remarks, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen reaffirmed the bloc's position: "We are convinced that the only solution is the two-state solution." She also stressed that humanitarian aid for civilians must never be politicized. EU and UK describe situation in Gaza Strip as 'unacceptable'
  5. Blimey. The German I hear is more like the clip below.
  6. The Wall Street Journal reports many Americans may not care to adopt the kind of factory work President Donald Trump’s is pledging to bring back to the U.S. The U.S. already has nearly half a million unfilled manufacturing jobs, according to the U.S. Labor Department. A 2025 National Association of Manufacturers survey also shows nearly half of manufacturing companies say their biggest challenge is recruitment and retention in jobs with rigid hours, hard work, and risk of significant physical injury. Americans don’t want 'hazardous' jobs Trump is pushing: report
  7. Sir Keir Starmer has condemned Benjamin Netanyahu’s “egregious” actions in Gaza, warning that the UK and allies will take “concrete actions” unless he changes course. The Prime Minister, along with French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian premier Mark Carney called for a halt to Israel’s military offensive and an end to restrictions on humanitarian aid. In a joint statement, Sir Keir, Mr Macron and Mr Carney said: “We strongly oppose the expansion of Israel’s military operations in Gaza. The level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable. UK, France and Canada condemn ‘egregious actions’ by Netanyahu’s Israel
  8. MADRID (Reuters) -Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on Monday for Israel's exclusion from international cultural events such as the Eurovision song contest over its military campaign in Gaza, just as Russia was barred after its invasion of Ukraine. "We cannot allow double standards, not even in culture," Sanchez, a Socialist and long-time critic of Israeli policies in occupied Palestinian territory, told a conference in Madrid. "I believe that no one was shocked three years ago when Russia was asked to withdraw from international competitions after it invaded Ukraine and not participate, for example, at Eurovision. Therefore, Israel should not do so either," he said. Spain's PM wants Israel out of international cultural events over Gaza war
  9. President Donald Trump went on a reposting spree over the weekend on his Truth Social platform, endorsing a series of AI-generated QAnon conspiracy theory propaganda images — as well as a call to arrest former President Barack Obama for a military trial. It began on Sunday morning, reported the Daily Beast, when Trump "retruthed" an image of himself standing next to Obama, with the caption, “All roads lead to Obama. Retruth if you want public military tribunals.” QAnon is a Nazism-inspired conspiracy theory dating back to anonymous online message board posts from a person claiming to hold "Q" level security clearance, that alleges that public figures, usually Democrats like Obama and Hillary Clinton, are running a satanic child-trafficking cannibal ring with world-spanning power and influence over the U.S. government specifically. Trump demands Obama arrest in frantic QAnon-fueled posting spree Still, Mr Trump is not the only one losing his marbles, see below: President Donald Trump’s ally, Elon Musk, endorsed a conspiracy theory about former-President Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis in a post on X. On Sunday night, right-wing podcast host Clint Russell took to X to accuse the Democrats of forging an “evil” plan to get Biden elected into office and strategically drop out because of his diagnosis, to pave the way for Kamala Harris to take the reins. .Musk, who has become a recent figure of the past after he slipped away from his political duties with the Department of Government Efficiency, simply responded with a “bullseye” emoji in a dart board, appearing to pledge his support for the bizarre claim. Elon Musk endorses conspiracy theory around Biden’s cancer diagnosis
  10. Well done Romania. Europe together, kick out the jams, Vladimir and his minion, Donald.
  11. The United Nations has a working aid plan and supplies ready to go, said its humanitarian chief on Friday, dismissing alternative proposals from the U.S. and Israel. "We have the people. We have the distribution networks. We have the trust of the communities on the ground. And we have the aid itself -160,000 pallets of it- ready to move. Now," Fletcher said on X. UN humanitarian chief dismisses US alternative aid plan for Gaza
  12. Tens of thousands of red-clad protesters marched through the Dutch capital on Sunday to demand their government do more to halt Israel’s campaign in Gaza, in what organizers called the country’s biggest demonstration in two decades. Human rights groups and aid agencies — including Amnesty International, Save the Children and Doctors Without Borders — estimated the peaceful crowd at more than 100,000 people, and the streets of The Hague were packed with the old, young and even some babies on their first protest. The march took the young family past the Peace Palace, headquarters of the United Nations’ International Court of Justice, where last year judges ordered Israel to do all it can to prevent death, destruction and any acts of genocide in Gaza. Huge crowd piles pressure on Dutch government to seek an end to Israel's campaign in Gaza
  13. Don't bother with the amateur psychology of posters. The fact is Trump has stated he would like to move the entire Gaza population abroad. After failing to convince the Egyptian and Jordan leaders, he considered Morocco, Somaliland and Puntland. All three countries have a strong need for US support, the latter two seeking international recognition. Regarding Libya, the US has apparently offered to unfreeze billions of dollars in frozen Libyan funds. However, the country is still in turmoil. Just this last Thursday, Trump emphasized that the US should 'take' possession of Gaza and turn it into a " freedom zone"
  14. Just because the embassy denies it, it doesn't mean the idea of moving Palestinians to Libya has not been discussed. Afterall, it's not the first time Trump has considered moving the whole of Gaza's population to an Arab or African country. Below is an extract from: Palestinians could be ‘forced into three controlled zones in Gaza’ under Israeli plan, report claims While Mr Trump issued a warning that “a lot of people are starving” in Gaza, without mentioning Israel’s blockade, the US president’s apparently sympathetic tone was tempered further as reports emerged suggesting his administration was considering a plan to permanently relocate as many as a million Gazans to Libya. White House sources told NBC News that the idea had been discussed with Libya’s leadership and was being seriously considered. In exchange, Washington would release billions of dollars of funds to Libya that the US froze more than a decade ago.
  15. President Donald Trump has announced plans to reimpose tariffs on U.S. trading partners, citing sluggish progress in trade negotiations. Speaking at a business roundtable in Abu Dhabi on Friday, Trump said countries seeking trade deals with the U.S. will have a few more weeks to reach agreements before his administration unilaterally sets new tariff rates. “We’ll be very fair,” Trump said, “but at a certain point, Scott and Howard will be sending letters out telling people what they’ll be paying to do business in the United States.” Trump Warns 150 Nations: Strike a Deal Soon or Face the Consequences
  16. Eat the tariffs, not the cats and dogs! The president over the weekend told Walmart's executives that they should absorb any increased costs that he has created on imported goods through trade policies. "I’ll be watching, and so will your customers!!!" Trump wrote as he demanded Wal-Mart and China simply "eat the tariffs." Author James Surowiecki said, "But Trump has said over and over again that foreign countries pay tariffs, not US businesses or consumers. If that's true, why would Walmart have to eat anything?" he then asked. Trump's own words are being thrown back in his face after his latest threat
  17. Donald Trump’s latest reported scheme to end the horror that’s unfolding in Gaza is to somehow dump one million of the enclave’s 2.5 million people in Libya in return for unfreezing $30 billion in frozen assets. It appears to be part of a White House campaign to normalise Israel’s campaign to use bombs, bullets, starvation, the mass destruction of homes, and the targeting of hospitals and medical professionals to make Gaza unliveable. The United Nations and the International Criminal Court have said that what Israel’s Prime Minister and military are doing in Gaza is genocidal, a war crime, or crime against humanity. Voices: The Trump administration’s plan to send Gazans to Libya is as stupid as it is evil
  18. A £25bn annual boost to British exports is at stake for Sir Keir Starmer as he tries to secure a Brexit reset deal at a crucial summit on Monday, analysis shared with The Independent reveals. Removing trade barriers on goods, including food and drink and electrical items, could result in a 2.2 per cent uplift in gross domestic product in the long run, boosting the economic growth the prime minister so desperately wants to deliver, financial analysts Frontier Economics found. The impact on the British economy from such a deal is expected to dwarf that of the agreements recently signed with India and the US. The £25bn-a-year prize at stake in Starmer’s Brexit reset talks with EU
  19. On Friday Moody's downgraded the US credit rating from 'Aaa' to 'Aa1', citing the country's rising debt and interest rates that are higher than those of countries with a similar rating. The US continues to struggle with large annual budget deficits and rising interest costs, and Moody's does not see this trend reversing soon, especially as American politicians fail to take measures to remedy the situation. 'Aa1' is still the second-highest credit rating, but the downgrade means US Treasury bonds are no longer seen as the safest possible investments. White House furious: Moody's downgrades US credit rating
  20. Drones of the Security Service of Ukraine struck ammunition depots of the 126th Coastal Defence Brigade of Russia, located near the village of Perevalne in Crimea, according to RBC-Ukraine sources. Videos showing detonations and fires on the territory of the depots have also been published. The situation is so serious that the Russians even blocked traffic on the Simferopol-Alushta highway, which passes by the village of Perevalne. Ukrainian drones strike Russian ammunition depots in Crimea, sources
  21. If Hitler hadn't attacked Russia we would be speaking German today. I tried learning German at school but couldn't hack the guttural pronunciation or challenging spelling. If the UK had to be conquered, either France or Thailand would be far better in my view, lovely languages and food. What would have happened, btw, if Germany had conquered the UK? Would Germany and Japan have teamed up to attack the US?
  22. The fact is Trump sought a medical diagnosis to avoid any possibility of being drafted. The fact he was far down the queue is irrelevant. He actively sought to avoid being sent to Vietnam. Fine, I would have gone to Canada if I was American, but when he criticised McCain for being taken prisoner the man was way out of line. He has no right to refer to aspects of military bravery, etc having deliberately avoided conscription.
  23. n 1968, after receiving four deferments due to education, Donald Trump was diagnosed with bone spurs in his heels at the age of 22, seven years before the Vietnam War ended. In a 2016 interview with The Times, Trump claimed that a doctor “gave me a letter – a very strong letter – on the heels” to provide to draft officials. In the interview, Trump couldn’t recall the name of the doctor. Daughters of foot doctor say he made Trump bone spurs diagnosis as ‘favor’ to Fred Trump: New York Times | CNN Politics
