  1. Once again we see the ineficent Thai Government (ptp pardon taxin party ) at work, it was said by many posters before that

when the water is gone all urgency will go to which has happend, take the yingluck aproach and Hide from reality, if i cannot see the water there will be no flood, King Canute told the sea tide to stop, it didn't, neither will the floodwater, WAKE-UP do as much as you can while the water is under control maybe then it will not flood, ignore it at your peril !!! but, TIT so Nothing will get done and the people will suffer again, BTW we are STILL waiting for the COMPENSATION from the last time, as i supose are MANY others, so much for the Government promise, Less Talk More Action.

  2. Well, I am still desperately looking for a waitress/waiter as well as one cook helper and one pizzaiolo. Qualification for service is English and not looking like Huntchback of Notredame; the kitchen staff needs to be willing to learn. Far above the THB 300 a day and I cannot find staff. So Yinglucks trillion dreams will grind to a screeching halt as nobody wants to work in this country anymore 8-)

So, you are in desperate need of help for an eatery geared towards tourist in a country whose unemployment rate is currently below 1% ... and this is reason to believe tourism numbers will not continue to increase?

Nisa with respect the Thai unemployment rate is standing at less than 1 % Ho Ho--he he. You can search for what figures you like, if you dug this out of some google-or similar-fine but it gives you what was imputted. if the imput figures were missguided you get a ridiculous find. Look at the picture, eastern tourist figures are up--but western down, all the employees that served western customers are back on the farm --NOT signing on the register for unemployed, all the school leavers not found work are not registered they are at home--the uni lads and lasses-big percentage have got diploma's but at home, mothers that are at home, not signed on--fathers that do not sign on unemployment, in between rice harvests, does this make sense -or have I got it all wrong. To add eastern arrivals tend to be in groups, and large chain hotels, the lower hotel/ guest houses and eating places are where the young are getting there marching orders. only 1 in a hundred out of work --OH please.

As usual, more ranting to do with a figure(s) accepted globally and your disbelief of them and all stats and figures along with Google searches that don't fit what you want to believe. But the bottom line is unemployment is one of the lowest in the world and Tourism is up and has been trending up for a very long time. And by the way, unemployment numbers are not derived from any benefits anyone gets be it here or most countries (try using Google, it can be your friend) .... benefits folks receive is a different stat all together.

Whether or not the PM's predictions are accurate of near doubling tourism (domestic & international) revenue in the next 5-years ... that too is a different thing. But consider just International arrivals were up 20% last year. But why mention this since you believe some conspiracy exists with the airlines, TAT, border agents, immigration, airports and foreign governments to inflate these figures that are accepted globally by those who rely on these figures.

Nisa, you should get out more as you are living in a dream world, go upcountry have a look about see the unemployed in the villages, you might be quoting the offical figures and we all know what they are, absolute B S coffee1.gif

  3. PM confident tourism income will reach Bt2 trillion within 5 years

so she expects it will well over double in that timeframe from the current 770 billion?

I highly doubt she is talking about International Tourism only. Tourism Revenue yearly already exceeds a trillion. Few people consider that Domestic tourism revenue is not far behind International tourist revenue .. typically around 70%.

Nisa is that according to Google ??coffee1.gif

  4. Who is Yingluck? God?

Nobody can promise tin will not be raining for the next three weeks. if she can make such promises she can receive a job offer from the US embassy to serve in their army of missionaries.

Perhaps if you and the yingluck bashing bandwagon of several of the posters above read the OP clearly you will know what she meant:

"The prime minister has assured the public that the government will not allow the repeat of last year’s flood crisis in 2012".

She hasn't said there will be no floods or flooding, she is saying it will not be a crisis like last year because different measures are in place or being put into place to minimise the effects of the floods or flooding this year.

But that's not what you want to hear is it?

Just as well as compensation to the flood victims from last year still has not been paid in most cases coffee1.gif

  5. Just love it when all the experts on LoS chime in with their anglo summations = fact is, if you don't know how to do business in Thailand, go back to your own country - anyone stupid enough to let the lawyers and the land speculators handle their business deserves to lose every penny he/she has...............BTW I was very successful in making money legally in Thailand so you can drop the cynicism whistling.gif; fact remains they started construction without all the paperwork, probably disregarded the wrong person..............BTW, I am now investing in Kao Yai - you know, the National Park?? all the "illegal resorts" that were being torn down because they were being built on "Federal Land"??? gonna cost a bundle for building permits but in the end; I will have my 'Crippled Crocodile' fishing camp.........

    Stay Tuned..............TunnelRat69

    You need a bigger TRUMPET

  6. Quote 473geo "Really, perhaps you 'aware' people should have passed your information on to the opposition whose efforts to counter Thaksin appear rather ineffective, I can tell you now there were not many who predicted the introduction of Yingluck.......most infact said PT would fail because they were leaderless..........sure you are aware?"

The picking of Yingluck was being widely predicted months before she was appointed.

And to add, surely they ARE leaderless arn,t they ? whistling.gif

  7. Pheu Thai's dissolution is on its way, REGARDLESS.

Having a sister as proxy PM is the crime of the nation; and all those who voted for her should be given suspended jail sentences.

    Not necessarily, a dissolution.

Certainly the average voter. manipulated or not. should NOT get jail.

But the political machine no doubt has left a paper trail of wide swath.

But PTP et al may likely push it too far and give valid reason to dissolve it.

There is ample precedent for them giving their opponents the tools to do it.

Thaksin has a habit of pushing his Rooks and Pawns too far,

and causing the Bishops to realign against their wishes.

Exactly, given enough rope they will hang themselves

  8. Parliament legal team: Constitution Court order delaying 3rd reading of Constitution amendment not binding; vote on 3rd reading is not unlawful /MCOT

Strewth, who would be a lawyer in Thailand these days. The parliament needs a legal team to tell it what it can and cannot legally do????????????

Did this interpretation come with a disclaimer at the bottom?

Quite possibly.. BUT i Doubt that Calerm will read it

  9. Why is it, I can't find anything to complain about the way words come out of Abhisit's mouth? Either he's the true essence of a politician (lies VERY convincingly) or he's just really a class about the rest of the clods that call themselves 'politicians'.

Is it just me or does everyone else think Abhisit speaks convincingly, coherently and without the typical self-indoctrinated clout?

I would doubt very much if it was just you, imo i think he is a good man, who, given the chance i am sure would have pulled Thailand forward as opposed to the government who do nothing and a PM who does even less

  10. Maybe Reconciliation Bills in general are not aimed at getting Thaksin's money back but that is surely a very large, and unacceptable to many, bonus.

In Sonthi's version of the bill:

Section 3 absolves everyone involved in post coup protests of any legal responsibility - Fine

Section 4 stops legal actions against anyone covered in section 3 - Fine, what more do they want? They want

Section 5 - provisions of section 4 will also apply to anyone who has been affected by post-coup judicial process - Bingo! That is where Thaksin and his money come into the picture.

Do you see how it goes - first they define who is covered, then they define what is going to happen to them, and then they suddenly add another group of people who get the same treatment but who hasn't been included earlier.

As it is they can just strip this section 5 and we'll have a nice reconciliation/amnesty proposal. Yeah, reds burned stuff and soldiers shoot people, but let bygones be bygones.

This section 5 is like a sore thumb there - it's so general and potent that they have no need for sections 3 and 4 at all, it already covers them nicely.

And then there's section 6 which is about overturning punishments for vote buying - way to go forward! Is it what reds have been sacrificing their lives for? So that election frauds can walk with their heads held high again? For democracy, right?

"Never underestimate the power of human stupidity."

    Robert A. Heinlein

A good post, direct and to the point, the smoke and mirrors will fool most of the people but as the saying goes NOT ALL, i watch with interest to see just what will happen.

  11. It's a bit embarrassing to constantly read remarks from people that chose to live in Thailand but spend all there time knocking it. If this country is that bad, that you have to make fun of it's people, health and governments all the time, maybe it's time you moved on. Or at least come up with something more contructive than one liners that are derogatory.

Also it gets boring reading posts where posters that are only giving their opinions are told maybe its time you moved on or if you don't like it go back to your own country, if it is embarrassing to you, Why do you read them ??, get a life

  12. God you are pathetic you lot, you'd think you were talking about a mass murderer, a deranged terrorist or a cult member about to brain wash everybody. He's only a politician, or should I say ex politician in self exile over a politically motivated court decision to jail the poor chap.

    More Trolling.............................

  13. Let's face it, he is coming back. The yellows &/or Army can't come out because of the reds show of force in 2010. I can't imagine a few thousand yellows hanging around if 50,000 reds hold a rally right next to theirs. They'd need those brown pants. Therefore it's signed, sealed and delivered. Then the proof will be in the pudding. If he comes back & does a good job for the country many people will be eating their words. And vice versa if he doesn't.

Why wouldn't a few thousand yellows hang around 50000 reds? Oh, you probably mean because of the blacks in with the reds which case they would need their browns.

    Thailand, hub of colours!

No, because it might finally get the message through their thick skulls that they are poorly supported and badly outnumbered by a group representing the majority of the electorate.

Oh so might = right ??

  14. "Red shirts are paying about Bt7,000 each to get close to Thaksin, albeit briefly"

Obviously an anti-Thaksin article, reiterating all the Thaksin Opposition paranoia. But let me correct one specific fact. Perhaps some arrangements are paying the above noted 7,000 Baht. Locals however, have filled three busses and are paying 400. baht. which is most likely close to the norm elsewhere. Also as mentioned before, a case could be made that Thaksin is the minor reason for this journey, whilst the major reason is that it provides an opportunity for both camaradery and to see Angkor Wat at a very low cost. My interest is in seeing Angkor Wat.

I have just heard from an informed source that about 5'000 yellow shirts are going, mascaraing as red shirts just to throw eggs at Taksin with the aim of creating the worlds biggest human omelet

So Calgaryll bring your eggs and be part of something historic.

As for seeing Angkok at a low price - you cheap so and so . Imagine if foreigners came here on the cheap for a holiday - "Falang Kee Nok Mak"

I hope this is true about the Yellow Shirts. But it's probably just comedy.

A foreigner going to Ankgor for 400 baht because it's cheap makes him the same kind of guy who spends 5000 baht in a bar and leaves a 20 baht tip. There are plenty of Brits here that do that.

    YOU TOO no doubt
