  1. So , ........... We are still waiting on 'lat' & 'longs' for worzels place. B)

Scorpio, I'll be at the turn off to 1173 Wiang Chai @ #1 hwy at 0700 thursday OK. Let me know if you want to join up. Always nice to have someone else to blame if I get lost

Seems this 1173 turns into 1232 for a bit then back to 1173? Anyway will make the turn at 1098? to 1020, then worzels.

shouldn't really need em. the directions are pretty straight forward and accurate unless Macdonald want to call in an AirStrike and rule out civilian Casualties :)

    :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy::clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

  2. I'll certainly bring books for exchange next time I am there. Read a lot and haven't been able to find an expat I was told about in CR, near pizza, that does book exchange. OK and I'll eat too, think that goes without saying  .

  3. Glad I took time to read, thank you mellofello. I do like to eat and now have added LeMeridien to the list. I do live 30 clicks out of CR on purpose, same as back home, live outside cities but do like having access to them. The new Mall will be a nice addition.

Civilian casualties, don’t ya hate the crying and caring on about a small errant missile once in a while? Go figure eh!!

  5. So, I'm looking for a 12v Cigar lighter adaptor type thing.

    Female. preferably waterproof.

I want to be able to power the GPS from the Motorbike as well as the Car and it seems the easiest solution.

I know you can get marine cig lighter (female), water proof for boats back home, Canada. I plan on bringing one back with me after our visit to Canada but that will be Oct.

I will try Ebay as often if it is made in China or SE Asia shipping is free to Thailand. Recreational boating doesn't seem to be to big on the list of Thai activities.

  6. Any one wishing to do (PCF) after (DPT) can go via the 1093 i'm led to believe it's in good nick.

    Kop Khun Krap :jap: .

I think I'll do the PCF as the WSY to it and CSP. I try and DAIAT so I SOOT.

English: I think I'll do the PCF as the (WSY) wife says to and (CSP) common sense prevails. I try and (DAIAT) do as I am told so I (SOOT) stay out of trouble  .

By the was Mr. McD is Mr. MacD , it is a clan thing, KAR TOW :whistling:

  7. I think 10am from Worzels would be a good compromise. although I do think evryone should get out at 6am occasionally. The dogs have already moved off the yellow line; the insect bloom has already passed; and you get to see the Sunrise

The dogs are always on the yellow line unless I aim at them no matter what time.

I am sorry to admit I am an early riser most days I just do not want to have to get up if you get my drift. Have to and do are 2 different stories from the Naked City. The cheese and kisses is another story again.

Quite often we have to wait for the in laws for one reason or another and it has taken me years to train them not to turn up too early.

Used to get them outside the gate at daybreak saying the wifes name over and over and over ad infinitum until we acknowldged ythem and let them in the property and I dont want to have to go through another training period with them.

For Kandy Bars' info the gate is locked and the ex guard dogs pups give us some advance notice. No I havent installed and programmed the alarm system yet but I will if I know you are getting around our neck of the woods.

    Show us the pork :whistling:

    Early morning Rise !

As for getting to your kneck of the woods, I would have thought its a good alternative way home, via Puu chi faa and the waterfall for the Townies

The PCF road was a bit shattered last time I passed through in January and all the damage seemed to be on the corners so I decided to give it a miss for a while

or until one of our brave pioneers lets us know it has been restored to its former glory.

In the meantime there are plenty of other roads (did not want to say routes unless it got readers too worked up with memories of ages past).

See you on the merry go round

The PCF road? Newbies have a problem with local nomenclature? :ermm:

  8. Well found a can of flat repair at Big C. The idea is you get a temp fix, go replace the tube and boot the tire. I would never run a repaired tube on a MC any way, so works out and not have to remove and fix a tire in the middle of nowhere on a nice hot day.

Now to find parts for a Yamaha 250 Virgo (the Lifan 250B is a clone).

  9. OK, 10am from woralak's res March 24. Have phone number, directions to house and road to CK. OK lost already HaHa. Should be no problem once on the 1173 road to CK and KD, I'll ride your route back to CR after trip with you. I'll leave here around 0630 so as not to hold anyone up, giving me around 3 hours for the run to CK. I rise early and do like my coffee, so a slow run to CK with breaks works for me. woralak, do you have lats/longs for your house?

  10. So correct me if I am wrong (like no one would :whistling: ), we meet up CK (ferry crossing to Laos town), then proceed up along Laos border, through Chiang Saen and then?? Cross and gamble in Laos?????? Just kidding. If it wasn't for my bad luck, would have any luck at all. The trip back is through Mae Sai or head south before there?

  11. If there is a meeting location, I can check distance/time and decide an overnight or day trip. Haven't put more then distance Chiang Mai to CR on my butt so far on this bike, but think I can handle an hour to 2 at a go. I forgot my "super bike" at the cleaners, so will bring my "what to be" bike along. Speaking with KD I think we ride the same, slow and easy with lots of "look see!!" stuff. At my age now, a ride is "30% bike" and 70% look and see.

  12. If the 24th holds, I would like to take part. For me the only issue is finding where to meet up. Common names with GSP I can find. I would come into CR from 30K up the old Chiang Mai road then north to Mai Sai and then I am at the mercy of the GPS.

  13. Well last post here 2010/12 so no idea is there is interest but here goes. After looking at options for cheap transport with a little concern to usability, I went for the Lifan LF250-B purchased in Chiang Mai. 78,000 baht. Have only put 750K on it but have found:

1/ Light at speed with vibration (not real bad) over 90k

2/ Lights failed (no biggy) but no tools and no where to service in Chiang Rai

3/ No options available for the bike (did get saddle Bags Chiang Rai)

4/ Tires, lowest bidder, not restricted to Lifan, slippery and no option for wheels

5/ Fit of parts and wiring consistant with price, but remember what I paid

    Pros

1/ Has excellent power to weight

    2/ Great on fuel

3/ Have tools now, easy to fix and service (yam virgo manual)

4/ Looks like more then 78,000 baht

    5/ Acceptable fit for 6'2" 190lb frame

I found nothing in this price range 80,000 to 100,000 that seems any better and was still new and available. When I get a few more miles under it can say more. Will continue to look for wheels, tires and options.

The Sym was a close second (KeeWay 250)

  14. Interesting a 11mm (45 cal) 6 shot revolver and handler ejected last 3 live rounds from the cylinder? PANIC???

As a note to this, I would also note that I made the assumption the wound to the wrist is a defensive wound (4 wounds/3 shots).

My eyes not good but the casing looks like a semi auto round, not from a revolver. The guy could have had a jam or miss fire and ejected a few.

I certainly agree, auto is possible (I can't tell by photo too) but ejecting 3 live rounds in the middle of an assualt by an untrained assailant, not trained to "tap rack and go" after a failure?

Well again, just assumptions, but first brush with evidence? Any auto firing 45 cal., glock and such are very expensive and if so, a very high priced assassin.

  15. Question: I have a Bangkok Bank account and at this time am trying to find a way to transfer funds from my Canadian Credit Union account to this. When in Canada, I can wire money, but would like something simple like internet banking to do it. I would like to be able to move funds as simple as possible?

    Thanks

  16. where is the radiation going? Is it blowing towards North America?

My question then is, will it be safe to fly? If one looks at the air routes, they seem to fly over Japan and through the radiation cloud.

Please, someone tell me I am wrong.

Excellent question and of some concern as local winds have little to do with global effects of upper winds.

I have to think that as people we have an overwhelming concern for the people of Japan and global impacts to people/food and environment.

I believe our fates are in the hands of God and those that do their best and as a group, Japan, the situation couldn't be in better hands.

I fear that many will place themselves in harms way to protect their country and the world as a whole. God bless them and the people now immediately effected.

I wish there were words I could type that would make a difference, but I have no such words.

  17. On another thread on Lifan 250B, it is noted that you can change out the primary sprocket to a bigger diam. to cure this low gear issue. I get maybe 10 feet in first, almost don't need it with the torque. A yamaha 250 virgo gear was used and altho it is narrow, will do if you keep chain tention up. Solution to that is to change out the secondary sprocket at the same time to the Yam. My 250 is not comfortable at 100 to 110 K. Anyone else feel this?

  18. Got one at the motorcycle parts store just past the round about/Big Clock on the left. 340 baht, will do the trick for slow speed look around driving.

I would not recommend an upset at speed with this on. About the same protection as a cycle helmet.
