  1. My question is will Jomtien Immigration give me a hard time since I did not follow the 30 day requirement that lopburi3 speaks about above ?

    The requirement is not 30 days before expiry but "up to 30 days before expiry". However, it is not advisable to leave it until the last minute (e.g. you may have inadvertently missed a document).

  2. I was sure this question must have been asked, but after skimming back a few months.... nothing.

    Simple question ... my Thai wife and I plan to go back to UK for a month's holiday. How much actual baht can be converted to pounds in Thailand and legally taken out of Thailand/per person.

    Thanks in advance.

    I'm not sure that this regulation still stands but:

    Maximum of Bht 50,000 may be taken out of the Kingdom. Any Bht in excess of 50,000 must have the approval of the Ministry of Finance.

    If you are changing Bht to Sterling in Thailand, then the equivalent of Bht 1,000,000 appears to be the maximum at the present time.

    To be safe, check with your bank.

  3. If you married a Thai and had the necessary documentation and finances, you could extend your multi-entry visa during the last month of it's validity. After receiving the extension (12 months) you are required to report to immigration every 90 days (not the police). There is no need to leave the country but if you do for any reason, you will need to obtain a "re-entry permit" from immigration before leaving the country.

  4. Pad Khapow Gai

    Try using this as a basic recipe. As Jingthing says, you can add or mess with the ingredients to suit your own taste.

    * 1/4 cup Vegetable oil

    * 8 Cloves of garlic, crushed

    * 8 Fresh green chilies

    * 300 gm Chicken breast, sliced

    * 2 Fresh red chilies sliced lengthwise

    * 1 tblsp Oyster sauce

    * 1/4 tsp Black soya sauce

    * 1/2 tsp Fish sauce

    * 1/3 cup Basil leaf

    Heat the oil in a wok. Add the garlic and green chilies and fry for 1 minute. Fry the chicken in the same oil until almost cooked. Add the red chili, oyster sauce, fish sauce and soya sauce and cook for a few minutes. Add the basil leaves prior to serving.

  5. Buy the way, how long does it take to get from Mahasarakham or Roi Et to Surin do you know?

    Last time we went to Ubon ( 4 hours ) and flew to BKK from there.

    Two to two and a half hours, Roi Et to Surin. You can fly from Buriram (Satuk) airport to BKK (F*t G*t has the schedule on his website, I think). Surin to Buriram airport about 1 hour.
