Government says household electricity charges will be eased

Over the last year or so discounts and free months have offset most if not all of the increases for the poor. -
Government says household electricity charges will be eased
loong replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There may be many things that I complain about but the cost of electricity in Thailand is not one, The price increases have been minimal compared to other countries since energy prices increased, -
I also think that this story does not add up. Why was he carrying around that amount of cash? If it was to pay the hospital, well he had already been there so why didn't he? Nobody with a brain cell would have that money in a bag and lay it beside them and have a sleep. He could have shoved it down his trousers.

Coming Soon to the AN ChatGPT System - You will be amazed!
loong replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
What an incredibly bad idea! What is the point of a forum where replies are auto-generated? Does this mean that we can expect even more repetitive replies such as "500 Baht fine and a wai will fix it" "Stupid is as stupid does" etc. Is this a Chatgpt generated joke?- 135 replies

The first time I used it in December 2021 there were problems with the website and I could not submit it until the 2nd day after it was due. I got the confirmation 2 days after that, so being late was not a problem then. The last time I did it, I had trouble login in because the letters were impossible to read and I ended up submitting it on the due date. No problem.

In reply to the original question, I can only state my own experience. My motorbike was padlocked after parking in a no parking zone in Khon Kaen. I had to go to the police station to pay the fine. I was not asked to show my licence. Nor was I asked to show passport or anything. In response to all the other holier- than-thou replies. When renewing my insurance on a pick-up some years ago, I asked if the insurance covered any driver and would it still be valid if the driver did not have a license. I was told that the insurance would still be valid even if the driver was unlicensed. They did tell me that they could not comment on whether it is the same with all insurance companies though. Also, about 8 years ago, my girlfriend's son had an accident on his motorbike. He did not have a license. The insurance paid out.

Pattaya Police Ban Airhorns at Bars Citing Noise Pollution
loong replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
I haven't been to Pattaya for more than 10 years and I didn't notice any airhorns in the bars back then. Funnily enough it never entered my mind that Pattaya could really do with interjections of the horrible ear splitting noise that these things produce. I have to wonder Why anyone would need or want them! -

I hope so too. It would make a refreshing change for the BBC to make a comedy that is actually funny. Seems that the writers nowadays think that inserting F*** or C*** every 5 minutes makes a show funny. It doesn't! It just makes me cringe.

I don't stay in hotels as much as I used to but I will always tip the cleaners 20 Baht a day unless they give me a reason not to want to tip them. If they give me a reason to tip more then I will. 20 Baht is nothing to me, but if the cleaners got 20 Baht from every room that they clean, it can make a big difference to them. They deserve respect for doing an unpleasant job for minimum wage to take care of their families.

Swedish Man Dies In Crash Just 5 Days After Meeting Thai Girlfriend
loong replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I find it somewhat interesting that they decide to perform an autopsy in this case. Yet following the unexplained death of the diver (in KhoTao?) last week didn't warrant an autopsy! -
How is that cheap? That's nearly 10 times what I paid for my legitimate 2 year licences!

Tourism Ministry Eyes 80m International Tourists In 2027
loong replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I can only think that they have based this on "think of a number and double it"! They have also not considered the laws of supply and demand. That is (in Thailand) If demand is higher than supply, increase prices. If supply is higher than demand , increase prices. If there were such an increase in tourist numbers, prices would go through the roof and Thailand will no longer be attractive to tourists. -
I don't know what sort of nightlife you are looking for. As you have already been to Udon, you will have been to Day & Night (or is it Night & Day?). Be warned, there is nothing like that in Khon Kaen. Most of the nightlife in KK is set up for the Thai youth. The Farang bar scene is quite subdued and as already stated centered near the Pullman hotel. If you like extremely noisy Thai bars, walk out of the Pullman, turn left and left again and that road is full of them. I think that the Thai bars close at different times depending on how many customers they have. Certainly some are open until 3AM. Farang bars also seem to close when the customers leave but I am usually done by 1AM, so not sure. In the post above mine, MrJ2U says "Bus station and train station all within walking distance. ", he is obviously not talking about KK as the bus station is way out of town. Railway station is close though. If there are any Tuk Tuks around at night in KK, they are few and far between. Most bars/restaurants will call you a taxi. Taxi's are very reasonable and most trips around KK will be 100 Baht maximum. There may be a small late night surcharge.
