Waiting for the road to be completely clear would be a very long wait. A road that wide and that busy at 5AM needs a pedestrian crossing controlled by lights. Yes, I know that would still not guarantee pedestrians' safety, but a step in the right direction.

You totally missed the point of my comment which was in response to this quote in the article My point being that the women feel uncomfortable to have a man hanging around in their bathroom. I don't see why the fact that he was wearing a black T-shirt and sported a moustache would make them more uncomfortable. I think that their level of discomfort would be exactly the same.

I think that it was just last week that there was a report here that the tourism tax had already been implemented! I said at the time that I thought it had been shelved.

I don't know whether this is intended to indicate some sort of racism or not. It can only indicate racism if a high percentage of the killers were actually white people shooting black people because they were black.

I am quite sure that they didn't dream this up just to give us expats something to debate and moan about! They just see it as easy pickings. It doesn't occur to them that wealthier expats may just leave and retire elsewhere. Most of us already pay more tax than most Thais by VAT etc. Many say that what expats contribute is negligible when compared to the bigger picture and it may be, but it is not negligible for the 1000's of families that we support and the knock-on effect.

It reports that the dogs were safely subdued and immediately follows that only 2 were tranquillised and captured! So, the dogs were NOT safely subdued, 2 dogs were.
