  1. Big C Extra; they’ve usually got a decent selection.
  2. bkko and blix99, thank you very much. I heard ages ago they were closed and figured there was no change. Next week we’ll head over to get her a new pp.
  3. Does anyone know when the passport office that was in Pattaya’s The Avenue will be reopened? My missus needs a new one.
  4. In my wife’s village near P-lok three family members just got their first shot - AstroZeneca. They were told to come back in three weeks for a second shot - Pfizer. I’m going for my second AZ shot today in Pattaya, 10 weeks after my first shot. I haven’t seen any research on this 3 week schedule, shouldn’t health officials delay the Pfizer shot?
  5. I just went to Friendship and got the last five of those sausage packs, 350 a kilo. They are labelled Be lucky so probably a bit cheaper there. Frequent restocking. Great with pancakes, other breakfasts, and good with potatoes etc etc at night.
  6. Baraku, the stuff burned by the shisha equipment is more dangerous than tobacco. https://www.trc.or.th/en/baraku-is-more-dangerous-than-you-think/
  7. I don’t know. In the photo sent to me the side of the box says Amoksiklav 2X. I’ll post a shot of the box when they arrive.
  8. Thanks Sheryl, Augclav costs me about 330 baht at Fascino for a box of 14 pills and I’ve been quoted 120 baht for Amoksiklav, package of 10 pills.
  9. These two pill formulations both have 875 mg of Amoxicillin and 125 mg of Clavulanic Acid. Are they the same, provide the same benefits? Amoksiklav is about half the price of Augclav.
  10. This market on Pattaya Tai, across from the big wat, 100 yards east of Fascino’s has been closed for six weeks or more. I asked a couple of street vendors at the front; they didn’t have any idea about reopening. We used it for the veggies, a bit of a walk to other markets.
  11. I checked with Villa yesterday; about five staffers doing their best. They found it on their phones showing chain inventory, don’t remember the brand. I asked them to fit it in on their next order.
  12. Some are mentioning a paper print out from the hospital. The Pattaya Hospital wouldn’t give my wife any print out, but said wait three days and it will be on Mor Phrom. Still wondering how to print out the certificate (of the 8 choices, Vaccine Covid-19 Certificate is choice 3). Her Mor Phrom certificate is mainly in Thai including her name. How will showing it to a Canadian immigration officer be considered adequate information?
  13. It took days for it to show up on my wife’s Mor Phrom (the hospital told us 3 days, but that was optimistic). First to come to the app was the jab info, days later for the certificate. How do you print the certificate?
  14. Jingthing, that’s the one I’ve been speaking of. I had a great experience there just months after the last coup. Remember, the police were well below the army. At the beginning of our injera meal, a couple of army vehicles and a Black Maria pulled into the Soi, stopping opposite the restaurant. There was one police nco among them. Starting at the dead end, soldiers went into each floor of each building, hotels, restaurants etc., checking everybody’s credentials. About 35 people ended up in the paddy wagon, for visa issues I bet. While we were eating an armed soldier stood next to us for about 45 minutes. The building was given a thorough check, anybody who was considered dicey was questioned in the place next door then either set free or put in the wagon. I offered the soldier a beer - a shake ‘no’ of the head. Most taken away were Arabic. Better than before when we had to side slip past drug dealers at the soi’s entrance.
  15. I see on-line TripAdvisor maps that The Raj was on Pattaya Tai between Beach Road and 2nd road. Zum Simple used to be (about) there, it was good. The place I remember as Swiss was on Pattaya Tai about 50 feet east of 2nd Road.
  16. That Pattaya Tai @ 2nd road place was closed down when a bunch of store fronts turned into unsuccessful massage-drug store-etc outlets five years ago, or more. It was Swiss, I loved their schnitzel and rosti. Other plates too. Lots of family drama from the wife but everyday a bunch of older Swissies chewed the fat outside.
  17. There’s a place across from Le Bordeau - they claim to be Iranian.
  18. When we went, 5 or 7 times, there were Ethiopian staff diners plus mainly young westerners, backpackers or Thong Lor exiles, haha. The one on Suk 3, closed now, again had western customers in the main, but the newish one across the Soi in a 8-10 story building, the one time we went, were Middle Eastern males who favoured very loud music - we were the only ones there for the food. Even though the young guys were apologetic about the sound level and offered to turn it off, we left because, well …. they were there first. Friendly place.
  19. Jingthing, the next time I go to bkk for leisure I’ll explore Soi 3 Suk, and sub soi 1 and post here.
  20. Ethiopian (injera in Bangkok and Phnom Penh are favourites) Malaysian (really varied, love Sarawak laksa - not sweet) Cajun (difficult with local seafood being so poor)
  21. I’ve been going to Rutnin for years, check ups-cataract stuff-prescriptions. I went to a Pattaya hospital’s ophthalmology Dept and got a prescription - it was a bizarre experience. I showed their scrip to Dr. Roy at Rutnin. He was relieved I hadn’t got glasses with it and had a hard time not laughing.
  22. Thank you Sheryl, thank you all.
  23. If no other choice, the right surgeon in Phitsanulok in a serious pinch.
  24. I know a 51 year old Thai female who received a diagnosis which might involve one or more (I don’t know) heart valve problems, symptoms include general tiredness, almost panting while walking, lack of ability to exercise strenuously. Her significant other, 72 year old western male, exhibits the same symptoms. Apparently she recently received a quote of 1,000,000 baht for her to get a Bangkok Pattaya Hospital operation. Don’t have any details. There are financial issues. Can I get recommendations for a skilled, affordable diagnostician / surgeon, probably at a public hospital, in Pattaya or Bangkok? Thanks.
