Bile Duct stone operation, unsatisfactory results
NewGuy replied to NewGuy's topic in Health and Medicine
Hernia of course. I was given two week supply of GraCEvit(Sitafloxacin) 50 mg and Ursolin cap 250 mg. big ps, i was supposed tofly to Canada for 2 months; I’ll try to change that to 7 weeks and stay home for a while. -
In a Chonburi province hospital (I don’t want to bring revenge my way), I spoke to a doctor about me waking up every 5-8 days with a very painful sensation at the top of my stomach. My stomach felt rigid. After a few hours the pain went away but it shook me up for a day or so.. This happened 5 or 6 times before I went to the hospital. There was a lot of probing, scanning, with a preliminary diagnosis that i had a bile duct stone. After an MRI and two days wait they operated on me. A tube with tools was put down my throat. Result: some small stones were removed/excreted but the large one which was causing the problem was too hard to break. A plastic stent was put around the stone; the stent is expected to last 2 months, the tube was removed. The surgeon told me he’d had cases where they did the procedure one or two additional times. If those didn’t work there would either be an incision in the stomach; there could also be micro surgery. He said the latter options weren’t for me given the state of my heart. 79 years old, afib controlled by drugs, diabetes and lots more. When my heart guy was giving me a post op ekg he whacked me on the chest. My heart had stopped for 3 seconds. in addition, one of the doctors was quite jovial grabbing the flesh down the middle of my stomach. - he said hiatus heria and laughed. Back home.just now I feel shaky and my wife is pulling, lifting, half carrying around. The insurance bill of 370,000 was just approved. Please Sheryl and others experienced let me have your thoughts. Cheers

I posted two excellent health articles from the New York Times but they have not been displayed. Are these links a no go? If so, let me know and I’ll just post general advice that the articles are available if you look for them. Thanks.

treetops, I understand the Amphur. Where in City Hall do they make id cards?
-
I called the Amphur yesterday at 10:00 a.m. They said to come today at 8:00. We arrived at 7:30, which was late because we joined a large line. At 8:00 the doors open and we got #119. We were told to come back at 1 pm. We stayed, had some Thai food outside, went back a waited a lot. The section at the back where they process id cards went quiet about 10:15. We changed chairs, sat not far from the 3-6 clerks who had no customers and put on a pitiful wait too long face. They gave their phones a lot of work. I tried to get processed but “wait for ! pm”. Some monks and a few others came by and were processed. The card holder gets a photo taken, waits after, gets called over, some have paperwork too. About 15 before noon a clerk expressed surprise my wife was waiting. They took her photo, after a wait she got her new card and paid the clerk 50 baht. Toot jep. If I have to go through that again I’ll do lots different. We took Bolt from Pattaya Tai. You won’t get a hit on Bolt’s map if you’re looking for Amphur Banglamung. Place the destination pin yourself, looking on Suk going north: it’s BANGLAMUNG DISTRICT OFFICE. Double check because there are a couple more government complexes down the road. The phone number is 038-222-480. Google might lead you to others but the ones I found don’t work. Toot still jep.

She’s Bhuddidist.
-
Yeah. They were’nt answering the phone earlier. I’ll need to get through tomorrow and have my wife confirm they are open Thanks.
-
Off to the Amphur tomorrow morning!
-
My Thai wife needs a new ID, the old ones expired near the first of the month. Given the realities of this Songkran month, when would the earliest date be? I hope she could get it at a counter and not wait for the post office to deliver it.

In, about 1993, I made a terrific trip here from Canada, going to Pi Pi (seemed overcrowded with just a few hundred westerners, to a much better Bangkok than now, King’s birthday celebrations in Kanchinaburi at the famous bridge, train to Chiang Mai and a trip up to the golden triangle in a bus with an inebriated driver. Based on some guidebook suggestions I went to a large jail in CM. As everybody but me understands I was firmly told to go away. I accepted that and had beer elsewhere instead. I took buses to Lampang, Lumphun, Sukothai, train back from P-Lok. As with many trips here there had been a coup. I was beat on the flight home but had a lot of lifetime memories. I’ve came back many times, and to other SEA countries but never had the urge for a monkey house visit.

I live in Pattaya and have been to hospitals all over Chonburi and in Bangkok. Costs are an issue. As long as English is handled well by a doctor I have no problem with government hospitals and long waits. I my latest test results showed eGFR (non-African-American) at 47.0. My RBC Count, Hemoglobin (hb) and Hematacrit (Hct) readings were all low. My diabetes doctor told me I had anemia, my CKD was Stage 3. I was told to avoid potassium foods like bananas, nuts, and oatmeal, so museli, almost daily, is out. My insurance company knows I’m diabetic and has a history of denying related coverage. What doctor choices are good for me? Please Sheryl, your knowledge and experience are sorely needed. I’ve got a gloomy attitude in case you didn’t guess.

I’ve been using Docs to Go on a couple of win 10 laptops and now on a win 11 model. I’ve been syncing to iPhones but most importantly to an iPad. Everything was going well until 3 weeks ago. Luckily I synced before my string of bad luck. My laptop died. Luckily it was under warranty and It’s okay now. Then my almost 4 year old ipad died. Icare in pattaya’s central couldn’t help. I bought a new 12.9 inch iPad at the store selling apple stuff one floor down. Luckily I had just backed it up. When I tried syncing on Documents to Go I could not add a new device. I started docs to go, clicked on add device, clicked on new device, went to the new device identifier screen, with my iPad’s doc to go showing the code for a new desktop but the laptop didn’t recognize it. Both units were on the same wifi, cellular data off on the ipad, vpn off on both units, disabled malwarebytes and avast on the laptop, but the ipad wasn’t recognized. I’ve tried over and over. What do you suggest?

Wanted best Bangkok Pattaya doc for complete work up
NewGuy replied to NewGuy's topic in Health and Medicine
Sheryl might approve me saying I’m looking for the right doctor but at an in-town hospital. -
I know I could go to my heart guy but I suspect a holistic view (lots of questions, tests, different body sysmtoms) will yield more for me. I’ll arrive with all my clinic-done tests. I will go my heart guy later. I’ve had new symptoms lately, not heart related, I think, and want to ease my mind with a more complete approach. Cheers.

Tired of Warfarin side effects and food no goes!
NewGuy replied to NewGuy's topic in Health and Medicine
I’ve just ordered two boxes of Rivalox (Rivaroxaban) 20 mg, Indian generic, at 1,890 baht each. If I tolerate them well I’ll buy lots more. What is the procedure for stopping Warfarin and starting Rivaroxaban? Start the day after my last Warfarin dose or wait one or two days? Thanks all. -

What is the procedure for going from Warfarin to this new-to-me drug? -
I’ve been taking Warfarin since I was diagnosed with AFIB in 2008. It deals with the possibility of stroke by reducing blood coagulation though one must be careful to maintain INR readings in the 2.0-3.0 range. My right arm, wrist to elbow, is blotchy from poor recovery from knocks to the forearm. Doctors look at my arm and ask ‘Warfarin?’. My Thai heart doctor says that stopping Warfarin and replacing it with RIVANOXABAM 20 mg taken daily would be suitable. I wouldn’t have to get INR tests and forbidden/cautioned foods such as leafy green vegetables, cranberries and lots more could be eaten. Future arm knocks wouldn’t be a lasting problem. The new drug is expensive though. Pattaya Tai Fascino quoted me 2,430 baht for a month’s supply (I didn’t note the brand); there would be a reduction when paying as I’m a card carrying customer. My Bangkok druggist said that the price for Xarelto 20 mg price is 3,600 baht. I don’t know if Xarelto is a Thai generic or original. She also found a made-in-India generic for 1,890 baht. I gather, perhaps mistakenly, that generics from Thailand or India are fine. What do you think? What suggestions do you have for me? Thanks.

Cannot connect from laptop to external Dell 27” screen via hdmi
NewGuy replied to NewGuy's topic in IT and Computers
Hi Joebuzzz, before, while I could not connect to the external display, for some reason my laptop rebooted (without my assistance). After that reboot both the laptop and Dell monitor were on and working well. Since then I haven’t had issues. Thanks. -

Cannot connect from laptop to external Dell 27” screen via hdmi
NewGuy replied to NewGuy's topic in IT and Computers
Following Red Phoenix’s suggestion, I unplugged the hdmi cable from the laptop. The Dell displayed a message that no hdmi cable was connected. When I plugged it in again, the Dell told me there was no hdmi signal. BTW, the gold tip hdmi cable, came with the monitor.
