Penang has plenty of bottom end digs around Lebuh Chulia but some/most of them are pretty seedy, noisy and smelly.

I find the Waldorf on Lebuh Leith (just off the top end of Chulia) a decent deal, but basic place at 50ish RM a night for ac, TV Hot Water and dolliebirds in the 'health' spa/coffee shop at the rear. It's as clost to a Thai level 'mid range' place you'll get in Penang.

More up market the Cititel on Jalan Penang at 170ish RM is a good place with decent views of Penang from higher floors, a nice indoor pool which Asian women like.

This is only of the procedure. Take the 2 halves & place in a large container of water, a bucket is ideal. Place the bucket / container anywhere in the room. All paint fumes & smell should be gone in about 24 hours. No wives tale.... it works.

My word! I did this at 5pm yestreen and came in from seeing the wife and there was a distinct improvement. Cheers! I do wonder if the raging tempest last night which hit us helped too...

Please just search through this forum for threads on neighbours nuisance dogs. There must be 3/4 of these a month. The truth is you have to man up and confront the owners and explain your discomfort to them and hope they don't take exception to you and then actually do something.

I just came past my local moto boys on the way home from my walk and they are football mad. They were not impressed. I think once the military gauge public mood on this one, we won't have heard the end of this.

Is there a good method of getting rid of the smell of recent paint?

I recently had our condo painted but as we don't live there I've not really had the chance to "air'' it too much and the smell of paint is overpowering.

As it now seems like it is now going to be my base for the next month so my World Cup viewing with pals in the wee small hours doesn't disturb the wife.

I've tried incense, air fresheners etc but I'll wager there is some clever old gag for removing it like "Having a bald man leaving out used tea leaves on the second Sunday after Sepatuagisima in a New Moon"

A word of encouragement to those without True or RS is that it seems a lot of local 'Charlie Cable" companies seem to have tapped into a few likely external broadcasters.

I just spoke to a pal in Cha Am who told me over the last few days a few likely looking new stations have appeared. Another pal in Lopburi told me the same.

I just went to my condo which has the same there.so it looks like I'll not have to bother the wife by dragging home pals who would have no access otherwise in the middle of the night now.

English Language coms don't look likely, nor does HD but I know enough about the game not to have to rely on such things. The BBC/TalkSPORT radio coms via Chrome looks the best option
