  1. are these flights for free. if your company makes you fly them then i'm sure they are paying for them. so you cant really complain. flying the world for free is not a bad life style.

and of the ethiad bashing. i have flown them from dub-bkk and taught they were great. just one of the cabin crew (a man) was the only the negative, but thats just nit picking.

will be flying malaysian airlnes dub-kul first time in jan. hope they are good.looking at seatguru i see they have about 6 or 7 rows less crammed into there 747 so should be comfy but maybe thai have less business or first class than malay

  2. thanks all for your info.i already taught of flying to laos but air asia have no flights on the day i get there. but flying to phuket then to somewhere in isaan is a good idea. looks like it would have to be udon thani then my wifes family could collect us(well thats what she says anyway). the flight to ubon ratchathani will have left phuket before i get there.

    thanks all

  3. thanks for that .have a few options now, just the waiting times in the airport are the problems as they are evening flights and i just miss all the morning flights out .at the moment its looking like a flight to udon thani, then a bus to mukdahan . nok air only give the flight times for a few months so cant check if they put on more flights in january when its peak seaon

  6. the uk are charging 85 euros and you must pay online before you submit your application which gets me so angry. i know a visa for spain is free but then you have to pay for a visa for france so i think a lot of them are just money making.

i have seen this listod countries in which she doesnt need a visa but what i don't understand is my landlord who has a wife from malaysia recently went to france and was granted a visa there and i dont think she needed a re entry visa to ireland so its a bit hit and miss in the responses i'm getting.

also a chinese friend said she went to england with no visa.

According to this list the only countries in Europe she can travel to without obtaining a visa in advance are Andorra, Russia and some of the former Soviet republics.

Remember that once she has a Schengen visa it is valid for all the Schengen states. If touring she should apply to the embassy of the country which you will visit first.

Unless the fee has recently been increased, the normal cost is 60 Euros and, as you rightly say, should be free to the spouse of an EU national; although in the UK some embassies insist on applicants making an appointment via a premium rate phone line!

    Which countries are charging 80?

Remember, also, that if you wish to visit the UK on your tour that the UK, like the RoI, is not a Schengen state so she will need to obtain a separate UK visa.

No visa application is assured of being approved; any fee charged is for the processing of the application, not for the visa.

  7. stayed in paddys resort i think the name was. a irish palce with lovely rooms, amazing little pool with juquzzi and great view of mountains. only 600 baht a night and i mean it was great value. worth a look

  8. hi all. could some please post about countries were i would not need to apply for visa for my wife. i want to show her around europe area but i am sick of the hassle of applying for visa. apparently visa for the spouse of EU are free but some of there websites are still charging up to 80 euros without even be assured of being approved.

plus i need to take time off work as my wife would not be able to find the embassy. i was thing maybe counties like turkey with grant a visa on arrival.

    would be travelling from ireland

anyone have experience of visas been granted on arrival

    thanks

  9. hi pat. i will tell you what i did to get my wife a visa.no as i said my its my wife so might be a bit different to gf.

i filled in the form online myself in Ireland and faxed the completed form you print out to her in bkk. so no need to worry about your gf having to do.

then she goes with her documentation to the consulate in bkk.no need to wait for them to contact you.

it doesnt matter what contact documentation you have had with her since you have known her, put it in,emails.skype messages.western union receipts.copies of phone records.scans of phone cards you may have used.picture of were she will say.it doesn't matter what the emails say, don't be shy as the more strange they are the more real they will think the relationship is.i faxed nearly 60 pages to bkk with all sorts of stuff.like bank accounts, payslips, facebook messages,it didn't matter if it was a little puppy love, put it in

now she only had 30000 in her bank but i stated in my letter of invitation that i would look after her in wealth and health,ie if she got sick i would cover the cost.

state how long you know her and how you met her

copies of your passport with all your stamps to thailand

and also the ladies in the consulate are amazing.my wife couldn't believe how nice they were.even giving her info on what to do when she got here.and i have had plenty of contact with them so i will back that up.

drop them a email if you have any questions

  10. hi newbepat. what ever your choice is i wish you the best of luck.i understand you wishes to get out of ireland.would love to do it myself but unfortunetly i don't have the 1 million in my bank  which some think is needed to retire in thailand.that makes me laugh as i the interest on that you could live on alone.

you been in the situation you are in now i would leave but remember that once you leave ireland for more than 2 years you are seen as a outsider when you come back and will be left homeless if you dont have some back up plan.

will the state pension be paid into you bank account even though you are outside the EU.?

also i wonder why so many people on forums visit thailand when they seem to have alot of negitivity or bad experinces

  11. hi all. hope or some help here as there is just to much info to scroll through to find what i am looking for..

  12. How is this even news worthy? I was just on Koh Samui for a month. My classmates and I went out on different occasions to Lamai and Chawang for drinks. In Lamai there is a central square of bars around a Thai boxing ring. On any given night there are perhaps 100 girls (and ladyboys), give or take, working at these bars. All of them dressed like hookers and dancing on the poles installed in each tiny open air establishment. Many were open and fairly brazen about what they were there for. I decided to do my own research and bought a drink for the 20ish looking waitress who had been serving us a drinks and said I wanted her to join me for a while. She spoke fairly good English. She went into sales mode instantly but I calmed her anticipated action and said I want to talk for a while first. She was actually 30 and has a 12 year old son and 8 year old daughter back home in Isaan. She had been on Samui for 6 months already and claimed she was saving to go home. (Grain of salt taken) I asked how much to spend the night with her. 300 baht to the bar and 1000 baht to her. I asked how many other girls do I have to choose from. "Any one you see" was the answer. I asked how many were local girls. "Not many" was the answer. I estimate, from what I saw, that besides these 100 or so in this square, there were maybe another 200 in Lamai and the club scene in Chawang having at least that many as well. Point being, how is a bust on one tiny club involving a whopping 13 girls even worth talking about? And as we all know, this does not even represent a real bust. Perhaps the proprietors missed a payment to the local cops or to the local mafia. At any rate, there are thousands of girls across Thailand selling their wares on a daily basis without even feigning discretion due to fear of being caught let alone needing to be "freed" from their "captors". Although many girls would prefer not to be doing this kind of "work", they are certainly not being forced into it. It is relatively easy money and easy to get into. Sympathy? Sympathetic about the whole situation, but these girls are making their own choices.

people that go to thailand and then take <deleted> about there culture or the ways the girls have to make a living really piss me off.everyone knows that it is not there first carrer choice to work in a bar
