  1. I love to listen to all the dip chits that talk smack about the US because they think it's the cool thing to do. Until their country is in a sling and then they want the US to bail them out. Last year this chump from South Africa was talking big smack without knowing the facts and I called him on it and told him to . America is far from perfect but stupid is a global thing.

Who's that guy in your avatar...........blink.png

It looks like Chuck Norris's sister.

  4. I usually go there every 90 days but instead of going north at Chiang Rai I would do the border crossing in Laos. I haven't stayed in Myanmar more than a few hours but Loa is more like Thailand. Although I hate their currency but if you do Lao just take a bunch of Bhat. Just depends the type of visa you have. I have only met one person that went to Burma to stay a few weeks so I'm guessing you can. But Lao > Myanmar.

  5. The way the weather has been lately, it is unlikely that said garment would ever get wet.

Anyone know where I can buy a rain dance suit?

If you cut back on alcohol and spend little time outdoors, not inside bars, you might notice rain every day

FYI I'm not much of a drinker and didn't move to Thailand to get laid. It was a joke that I guess flew over your head.

  6. Didnt this happen in america,?why didnt he shoot it..lol

Jealous? We all know if country x had its a$$ in a sling who 95% of the world would call. I love checking fools in CM that talk out of their backside about America. It's not perfect but most cowards turn their head.

  7. Nice if she were caught and named and shamed. And if found guilty, she should be forbidden to change her name (so she can't hide her identity), and her ID card stamped with a big red "S" (for scumbag) which would prevent her from being employed anywhere in the entertainment industry and make her eligible for instant jail if found guilty of even a parking ticket.

Sorry, that baby is just too cute. I'm venting.

Yah the little boy is cute, very sad.

  8. Trujillo is right to bring this situation to our attention. I had no idea it was so bad there. I haven't been in five years. Surely they make a ton of money and something can be done. I willing to help join the effort if there is something we can all do to improve the situation.

After being a visitor to Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney over many years, acknowledged as one of the worlds best it is indeed depressing to go to the CM Zoo and the Night Safari "Zoo"

I'm not convinced that animal species preservation it high on the agenda at either although they will of course deny that. We have no intention of going back but guess it might be high on the list for

visitors from China and they will keep the turnstiles ticking over.

I know I just said I'm not keen on zoos BUT I was planning on visiting the night safari soon. Now you've burst my bubble. Is it that bad?

Actually the Night Safari is quite good - real enclosures etc, though they still do the posing with tiger cubs and stuff that is endemic in Asia.

That's one thing in CM I have never done, the night safari. Have to put that on the list but I get tired of seeing Animals exploited so I tend to try and not support. I know when I have done my 90 day visa runs I take candy for children at the border but don't give money. It's all kinda sad but all children like candy and I refuse to help those that exploit these poor kids...so candy is a good choice and I grab a few bags at the check out of Tops.

I have been to the Tiger Kingdom and taken some photos but I would never go into a cage after watching that dude in Alaska get all friendly with wild grizzlies that got him and his GF eaten. One time I was there and this couple was in the cage and the handlers were going ape chit and I was like oh here we go. So there are Tigers in there with a head the size of a Thai torso and these Thai guys were going crazy due to red ants. Like being bitten by a red ant is so bad when there we 2-3 tigers in the open. I just had to shake my head.

I can think of one poster I would like to see in with the Tiger!

  9. Is anyone playing online poker currently in Thailand or CM? If so, which sites do you use? In the past, I used Poker Stars but that was 3 years ago. Anyone using any other sites like Poker Stars, Party Poker, Full Tilt or any other? Just wanted some feedback from those that play real poker "wink wink" online. Kop Koon Krup, John

  10. If the original poster has as much trouble figuring out what to do on something so simple maybe he shouldn't be teaching anything. It's not rocket science and if you can't manage a couple google searches or simple Thai rules what's the point of asking a question when you didn't seem to do an ounce of research?

Serious question, how did you manage to get to Thailand on your own?

  11. Bikey has two locations and is the best place to rent a motorbike as I have rented monthly 2 of the past 3 years and the owners are Thai and on the up and up and don't try to screw western folks like me. From the NW corner of the moat travel about 1km towards the mountain and it's on the left hand side. Bring a copy of your passport. Goggle them if you need more info, the husband and wife are very nice people and they have a great staff and many to choose from.

  12. To answer your question, the iPhone 4 can be jailbroken and unlocked very easily (as long as you have not "updated" to 5.1). Any of the shops in Kad San Keow can do it. Try the 1st on the left on the lower floor when you come in from main road.

Airport Plaza also has many on the 3rd floor.

Then go to DTAC shop, or similar, 10 metres away, for a micro-SIM, either pay as you go, or get contract, wharever is your preference, but decide first if you want internet access using 3G, or rely on the free WiFi that is usually somewhere.

After the jailbreak and unlock do not accept any offer from Apple to update your operating system until the jailbreak for the new operating system is released, otherwise you will lose your unlock.

    Regards,

Mr Felipesed, kop koon krup for your input very much...I know right where you speak of outside of Tops and yes I just notice I have OS 5.1 but now I am in the process of setting my iphone/itunes to it's original setting and then follow your simple yet easy to follow instructions....knowing my thinkness with all thing tech I'm pretty sure I will f.something up but that I blame on my motorbike accident last June where my head bounce off the pavement in my 700B helmet

And B.Bill...oh following your post made my head numb but I get your point....Is that like the guy working out, grunting with 40kgs on the bench presswink.png

Thanks for the help all....Since I was asking a question I thought I would express my fondess for Podcasts thus opening 3% of my mind to tech....now if I could just learn more than 6 Thai words, lol baby stepswai.gif

  13. I feel your pain but I don't feel there is any relevence to Chiang Mai! Please move to a more suitable forum. cool.pngwai.gif

Really? wow...I see people ask questions for all kinds of stuff while they live here in Chiang Mai on this forum...relevence, really? Like someone that lives in CM that has an iphone 4 like me and possible has the answer I am looking for? Ok I get it, one of the posters here that has nothing to add but some stupid smarta$$ answersad.png

  14. It's true, I'm only 46 but I am finding myself a bit thick and scared of what seems like "everyday technolgy" many of us use in the world today.

I remeber 15 or so years ago trying to explain the web to my father and he wanted no part of it then, now at 70 he's on facebook or some other site back in America looking for love. My thought then was his love of guns and being able to find anything. This got me thinking about change or adapting to our new world, as it seems I feel more comfortable in things that aren't so new.

One example I have is Apple: In 2006, I purchased an ipod and figured out how to download my cds but until the past few months I had never purchased music online because I was more intimidated because I really not know what I was doing since I added my music CDs 6 years ago. In fact, I have started to use itunes to download podcasts for free because I like to listen to Seattle Sports Radio when I exercise (mainly anything University of Washington but any of my locals teams back in Seattle). My point? I hadn't done this mainly due to fear. Fear as in, oh man I'm thick and learning this new stuff intimidates the hell out of me and was wondering if many people out there were like me when it comes to routers, wireless internet at home, programming the TV remote?

In 2012 my world has been opened up to podcasts but now I have a new problem and was hoping someone could answer a iphone question for me since I have done a few searchs here on TV and even google without any luck. So before I ask my technology question let me share how much I enjoy listening to podcasts and why. Since we all live here in Thailand, I suggest giving your local (back home) radio stations a try so you can enjoy some flavor from back home here in Thailand. As I said, at 46 I seem thick compared to before and am having trouble finding an answer to my iphone 4 question, not 4S, but wanted to share my new found enjoyment while trying to open a dialogue for those that share my increasing uneasyness with technology.

Since I dropped my old unlocked iphone in the waterfall last fall I have been using my house phone because I purchased my buddies iphone 4 when I went home to America during Christmas. He bought the new 4S and since his iphone 4 was less than 6 months old he gave to me but it used to be on a AT&T contract, although he just transfer the contract to his new iphone 4S...so my question is this? Has anyone had their iphone 4 unlocked here in Chiang Mai and where? Also the SIM card is not the same as my older iphone as it looks to be about half the size. I love the iphone and use for my music and photos but for the past 3 months I have no idea what to do or when and if I can use my iphone 4 as an actual phone again? Thank you in advance, John

  15. OP: I was walking out of California Wow at the Airport Plaza @ 10:30am and the sound was the first thing to alert me?... "man that sounds like an American Fighter" ok my years (1st Gulf War Vet) on a USAFBase in late 80s helped where we had F-16's but when I saw the jet I was pretty sure it was a Falcon/F-16. The F-15 is a Navy jet and larger....think movie "Top Gun"....pretty sure it was an USAF made fighter and I doubted it was F-18...think Blue Angels in USA in the past...

Likely F-16...less expensive, less advanced, air to air fighter and can assist ground troops or close air support...F-16 is a hell of a jet but its as old as the Space Shuttle Program or near

    just my 2 cents...

The F16 is still a front line fighter in many Air Forces even though it is old tech'. The Dutch do fab' routines with them at European Airshows every year. BTW the Aircraft used in 'Top Gun' were F14 Tomcats. The F15 is an Airforce jet and the F18 is a Navy jet.

Ok I know I'm only 46 but I just knew I was going to get something wrong...you are so right the F-14 and 15 look alot alike but Top Gun was for sure a F-14 ....my bad, I do know the 15 is an AF jet but I'm getting thick in my mid 40's

and OP, you are so right....hearing an F-16 take off 1000's of times....that was the sound that came to mind too but for the past 20 years I have mainly heard only the Blue Angels screem across the skyline late summers in Seattle for the boat races yearly...maybe the Angels aren't even using the 18's anymore.

What I thought was kinda funny was airshow not come to mind when I hear the thunder...my first thought was possibly some joint Thai/US show of force after N. Korea thingy. I'm glad it is an airshow but I have to admit once I realized it was likely an F-16 screem across the sky I was kinda proud seeing all so many Thai's looking up...wow...while I walk to my manly motorbike, not

And yes the F-16 is used by many countries and is a real work horse...kinda like the F-4 of years ago as they finally retired the 4 while I was in the AF. And most of the jets have an ABCDE...version as the technology goes up....I think I remember an F-15E in 1990 but my memory is fading as I have seen Top Gun like 20 times and I forgot it was a F-14...ok sorry I'm rambling now

Glad someone asked because I was curious if my ears were right? As I am learning in my 40s I can trust my ears more than my eyes ;) PS my American proud was not due to being able to show force but being proud the jet was likely made in America!
