I plan to stay abroad until Test and Go returns. Or, if Omicron lingers, I will do the Phuket Sandox.

it’s summer in South America, so in 2 or 3 months, it will get chilly in some countries and that will drive my decision.

Meanwhile, my PCR test came back negative, so I am off to Copacabana tonight.

Congrats for dragging it out so long - kudos to you!!

On a serious note, they have a Bangkok Bank ATM on the ISS, and I believe totally Omicron free.  If it's a safe haven you're looking for, there's an option for you.

Economy class seats will be freakin' expensive but!  :coffee1:

  2. Looks like a bog-standard mortice to me.  Measure the distances on the edges and the setback - shouldn't be a problem to swap with an off the shelf version.

Check for a brand name - might be something easily recognizable like a Yale or something.

I was taking precautions when omicron first appeared in NZ; didn't visit anyone, wore a mask around everyone else ( nobody except me was wearing one ), but it seems to be a bit of a bust, so I don't bother anymore. Been visiting all my friends again. Even went to the cinema the other night and no one was wearing a mask. I think people where I live are pretty much over stressing about it. They wear masks when the shop mandates it, but otherwise a lot of people don't bother anymore.

Mate, I was dead lucky.  Was in NZ for a few weeks in Feb/Mar 2020 with the wife and daughter.  Managed to get an early flight out to go to Sydney for 5 days to see my son there.  There for 2 days and saw the writing on the wall and got an early flight out - landed in BKK 18 March on a mercy booking flight with Thai Airways.

Otherwise I'd probably still be there and would have been press-ganged by my partners into working again.  Lucky escape.

Ironically, the cancelled flights on Emirates and the rebookings on Thai got me a nice little overall refund.  I think Thai were just happy to get anybody to pay the gas bill home for the plane before the world stopped, so the fare was stupid cheap.

  4. Wow!!  That's surprising but seems to agree with other posts in recent weeks regarding a 50K max.

What I don't understand is, if it is regulatory changes in Thailand then the regs would apply to all banks and present the same issues to them all, but being Thailand, I guess it's how each bank interprets the regulation.

These three banks must be interpreting the new regulations differently than the other banks to allow 50K+ transactions.  So is this a hiatus and eventually all banks will have to max out at 50K?  Or will the other banks re-interpret the regulation and permit 50K+ transactions again?

I'm with K Bank so OK for the moment.  It should be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

    That's a bummer.

This risk is now gone for people returning to UK, no pre-flight RT-PCR required.

How could be have been 'incarcerated immediately', there is a turnaround time for RT-PCT analysis and you're normally told to return the following day for certificate??

He had to do an ATK to get in the door.

  6. Oh that'll work.

Tell the wholesalers and retailers not to increase the price doesn't change the fact that the input costs are rising and controlling price at the retail end will result in even fewer pigs being bred, resulting in an even shorter supply and a greater price increase.

The laws of supply and demand are simple to comprehend - just think of gravity as being a social construct and jump off your condo balcony.  You'll suddenly understand both gravity and supply/demand in about 4 seconds.

No pre travel test required after 4am UK time on Friday to return to England. Your airline may be a different matter, of course.

Boris has spoken, per BBC World News online.

I don't think this will help my UK mate who went to a hospital on 2nd Jan to get his certified test done for a flight on 4th Jan.  Tested positive, incarcerated immediately at the hospital with a 10 day sentence, 4k for an extension visa of some sort, unknown hospital bill and his insurance is baulking.

Rearranging flights and documentation is a nightmare as he's computer illiterate. Food is terrible, no visitors, he's at his wit's ends.  He's fit as a fiddle physically, mentally distraught and confused.

He should probably be on suicide watch.
