From what the locals are saying that the gun was taken to the property. The Australian did not have the gun. They say it was an accident.

I opened my SCB account in Phuket and then moved to Phayao. They had to close down the old account and open a new. I then changed my telephone number. Even though they closed my Phuket account I was credited with interest after I thought it was closed. To transfer to new account they charged a fee. I still have 1.44 baht on old account. It will stay there.

Do not worry about the negative posts. If you ask a question some one will always give you a positive answer. You just have to ignore a little bit (maybe a lot) of garbage

Where did paradise go?
Chiang Ria or Phayao

Buy a printer than you can do your own copies. Then you do not have to travel to do your copies. You can even charge your friends for copies. If you take up this option ensure you have a work permit

I would drive past the house every day at least twice and maybe more. I never new a fellow Australian lived there. Maybe he did not want to be noticed. Now his picture is on Thai TV. Apparently he told the police he had the right to burn down his house. The fire did little damage. That what it looks from the outside.

The man arrested is reported to be an 85 year old Australian.. I also started a thread on this. House is 5km from mine. Did not know him.

There was a news item on Thai TV that an Australian (85 years old) is in police custody after a shooting in a village near Phayao. He tried to set fire to his house and the village boss tried to stop him. The boss was shot and killed. The TV showed pictures of him in a police cell. I have been unable to find anything on the web. The GF went to the market early this mornining and it was being talked about. It happened not far from our village.

so why pay, let them pay for theres.
i pay for the wifes mum, although she, dont ask, the rest can forget it.
A good question
but i am there for 2 weeks, first time i met the brother and sister, and family
I will extend the grace of being a good host for a very short period, but would not accept extended abuse of that privilege.
I ended up paying for about 5 meals out all up.
And yes honestly it was getting a bit tiresome towards the end.
Learn to live with it when you visit. You have the money and they expect you to pay. One way not to pay is only invite the ones you are prepared to pay for. That will also be difficult.

What qualifications do you have? What is your age? Do you have a job offer in Australia? I would suggest that the best way would be to contact the Australian Embassy

Ok if you aren't going to follow this anymore then we can have some fun.
The OP is obviously tightly wound up. I came to this amazing country to retire with my beautiful Thai wife and relax. I am achieving both at the moment very nicely thankyou.
I fully understand that I am a welcomed guest and am happy with that. I keep my nose clean and conform to the Thai ways, even if I do not agree with them.
What the OP is suggesting would take at least a few hundred years....as mentioned before this is a third world country, it will not change that status in my lifetime, I can be assured of that.
Cheers!
I agree with your comment. Since the OP has made the comment he has posted other comments.
We are visitors to this country and have to accept this fact.

I was in the Australian embassy on the 13/06. There was a sign giving the new prices for Australian Passports. I know that they increase from the 1st July in Australia but this notice stated that the increase was from the 1st June 2012. The funny part was they had not removed the sign giving the old cost. I had to tell them about the 2 signs.

Leo beer is the best. Ice cold but no ice in the beer. There are already other threads on Leo Beer. Do a search and have a read. Good to see another fan for Leo

It’s really not about the in-laws but I am sure you already know that. Different people just have different needs. Some need more, some need less.
While it is nice to tell someone you like their house, putting down someone else’s choices in the same breath tends to distract from the otherwise positive vibe.
Very true Each to their own.

For the price you are asking I hope you do not drink alcohol. The cheapest beer I found at an eatery in Chinatown was $5 for a long neck That was in 2010

What is new about this news story. Before 2007 very few. Since labor government HEAPS Wake up Australia

Travelled on the express line on 13/06. I am not sure if it has been covered in this topic but there are 2 express services from Airport to City and return. One is Airport to Makkasan and the other is Airpoirt to Phaya Thai. They go direct to that station. I have now used both services.

Been following afl for a couple of years now, and have learned to appriciate the game. Just one thing I don't understand, how is the seasons games scheduled ? Saw one the the seasons early games, I think i was Essendon vs GWS and the commentators said something about Essendon had to continue scoring, as they were only to play GWS once this season, to get a good as possible "percentage", whereas some of the other expected top 8 or top 4 teams were going to meet GWS twice this season, giving them two chances to get the high percentage. Is the play-schedule rollling over more than one year, or what is the explanation ?
The concern with teams meeting some teams once a season, other teams twice, is a sticky point with supporters, with many a claim of favoritism. The problem has arisen because there are 17 teams in the competion, each playing only 22 matches in the season before the finals.
This does not necessarily mean that if Team A plays Team B twice this year, next year they will meet only once. The whole thing has to do with marketing. For example, the League will schedule Carlton to play Collingwood, Essendon and Richmond twice every season, not negotiable They are Big-Ticket games, and the clubs concerned would not have it any other way, irrespective of the difficulty of winning the games.
It will be interesting to see if the Swans play GWS twice next year like they do this year. I wonder what the crowd will be for their next clash. on 30/06
