  1. I have been waiting for plates for 2 months. We were not even given red plates. Have a letter from dealer but have not been stoped by police. Even travelled from Phayao to Mae Sai through police checks but just waved on.

Letter from a dealer is useless. sad.png

If he doesn't do as advised maybe he will come on let us know how much the fine was if he does end up getting pulled.biggrin.png

When iI do I will. Been onto the dealer again today and waiting for phone call back. We have to drive to Chiang Rai on Wednesday. We return on Saturday so I will probably be letting you know on Sundy

  2. Right - all the info is on the Australian Embassy site in BKK under the '

    Services for Australians' section

As far as the translation and processing section is concerned - I was going to do myself but walked up to Wireless road and the first translation service on the right did all (including the certification by consular affairs ) for 2200 Baht inclusive , which included sending the documents to Chiang Rai- very efficient - saved me heaps of time and meant I did not have to hang around BKK which I hate.

I tried 3 translators and the others were above 5000 baht

Do you remember the actual name of this place. I will be going to the embassy on Wednesday.

  3. I used Agoda for a booking in Bangkok. After the booking I enquired about if the room had a seperate bedroom. Afterii think 3 emails they came back with the answer No. To late for cancelation. Upon arrival at hotel there was a seperate bedroom. Have never used Agoda again

  4. Public roads are public roads. If there is space at the curbside that is not clearly marked with yellow or red stripes as a no parking zone, you can park there.

If you are losing business because your customers cannot park at your restaurant, you're probably in a bad location.

i agree with what you say but in reality this is Thailand and those business owners have different ideas. If you see a very ugly look move your car or else.

  5. For me, my birthday is not important that i can have gifts given to me, not thai culture, rather instead for a few days before the birthday I make sure I sleep plenty, take vitamines, and eat healthy, then on the day I wake up early buy food for monk, and donate some money for temple, then I go too a hospital and donate blood, as for my husband I do not wait for birthday's christmas ect i just give when I see something I think is good for him or clothes he will look nice and handsom in, and last i gave him a findig crocodile leather wallet. My husband and I run a small business together and we take care of each other every day, so birthday's and christmas we can give somthing but just not very important.

Well said. It sounds like you and your husband have a beautiful relatiobship.

  6. I cannot understand why so many are dreaming up such a litany of imagined problems to implementation --- a somewhat similar scheme has existed for years -- the APEC travel card -- it does not suffer any of the difficulties raised here. This scheme is obviously for Business travelers.

    Countries covered:

Australia - Brunei - China- Chile- Hong Kong, China - Korea - Indonesia

    - Japan- Peru- the Philippines-- Malaysia - Mexico- New Zealand- Papua New Guinea - Singapore- Chinese Taipei- Thailand- Vietnam.

The APEC card is for business people. They have to apply and if successful they can travel to Austrlia for short term periods. It is valid for 3 years. It also allows for fast tracking at Airports

  7. I am watching Geelong and Carlton. On my TV I can only see the seconds of the countdown clock. Has anyone else have this problem? Good to see a close game.

Yes ,had the same problem with a wide screen tv.I didn,t watch the last quarter as the tv was commandeered by a five year old niece who wanted to watch a thai soap.I didn,t mind because we treat her as our own daughter as we don't have any of our own between us.Shame about Carltons two goals, nine points in the last quarter.

    Geez,

You're a better man then me Ron.

There's no way I'd let anyone take over the TV while a good game of footy is on.

    Especially a 5 year old.

    Regards

    Will

We both love her. She's a great little kid not demanding at all it's just that as i said before my wife and I have no children together and i'm a soft touch.

Thats why when we built the house I had a room with TV,computer and bar fridge built. In the 4th quarter yesterday the door had to be shut. Other wise my step daughter may have learnt some new words.

  8. With regards to the name for the Thai cricket league, the best suggestion so far was kevjohn's proposal to call it the Thai Cricket League. Does anyone have any better ideas?...

What should we call the Thai cricket league?

Thailand Home Of Cricket League which could be called THC League for short. Then this could end up being known as the drug league

  9. I think the OPs present of a wallet from his GF was a hint that he should always have money at hand when she requires it.

And if the wallet has credit card compartments, than he would be wise to consider whether it is worth getting married at all?

Be afraid, be very afraid, as the writing`s on the wall.

Thank you for the advice. In years to come I may have to revisit this quote. I hope I do not.
