  1. Seems odd that the newspaper cannot identify this 13 year olds real name but has no problem giving out her address.

She's not being identified because she's a minor! The address they gave out was the obviously the one of a rental room and not the address of her parent's place or wherever it was she was living at before she got pimped off! Use your brain, mate!

    Totally agree with your reply

  2. I must admit that I have been among the first to condemn the carriers whenever they get apprehended at the airport. In some ways, I feel sort of sorry for this guy and some of the others who are used by major cartels to carry for them. He probably comes from a dirt poor family where the sound of "One thousand Five Hundred dollars" is jaw droppingly tempting. It would probably lift his family out of debt or his family may even be in danger, who knows.

But, then again, some people get greedy and then there's just plain stupid.

Until the Thai police start getting serious and follow these mules up through the 'food chain', they will always catch the small fish and never the sharks.I am sure they must use different methods in the western world, like detective work, follow-up, tracking, investigation and major arrests.

Maybe someone on this board has knowledge of procedures in U.S.A., U.K., Australia etc and can comment.

These mules are the bottom of the chain. The problems authorities have is that there would most likely be an overseer on board the flight who the mule would not know. The syndicate may had more then one mule on the flight. One gets caught and the others walk. The overseer would see the mule being led away. An Xray would take time. The syndicate would have time limits for mules to exit. They would have wiped their hands of him if he was to try and do a controlled delivery. The mule would not talk because he would have family back home who would most likely be threatened if he did talk.

That is my theory why the police do not have a lot of success with further arrests.

  3. I was curious about miitary service so (as I was informed yesterday) I googled.

Military service age and obligation: 21 years of age for compulsory military service; 18 years of age for voluntary military service; males register at 18 years of age; 2-year conscript service obligation (2009)

Definition: This entry gives the required ages for voluntary or conscript military service and the length of service obligation.

  4. When my girlfriend applied for a visa we had been together for about 10 months. There is an age difference. I supplied a letter stating what we were doing while in Australia, that I would support her and stated my income. We had photos of us together. We submitted the documents through VFS www.vfs-au.net/

My girlfriend received a call from the embassy and then I talked to the officer. He mas mainly worried about our relationship I was asked to provide phone call history. I was able to supply Skype records. We had to visit VFS again and submit these documents. The visa was approved very quickly after the additional documents were lodged.

Be aware that even with the visa your girlfriend could be stopped entering Australia by Immigration at the border if they interview her and assess her as unsuitable. I have seen this happen. Always good to travel with her to Australia if you can.

While I agree that it's better to travel with your partner if you can, it isn't always feasible.

IMO though, it is very rare that a Thai on a S/C 676 visa with an Australian Citizen/resident

waiting at the airport for her, to be refused entry. The visa has already been assessed by a

case officer in Bkk and unless DIAC find incriminating documents on her such as payslips,

phone numbers for brothels etc, it would be extremely unlikely.

So, if she's genuine, no need to be alarmed folks.

    Regards

    Will

It is amazing what people pack in their bags. Some have resumes and documents that they think are harmless but to government official can be evidence to cancel visas and turn them around.
