  1. Just bought "caviar looking shoes" at Zegna.

    32,000b.

    Love these shoes.

I saved on the 900b socks.

    Did not buy any.

    Great savings again.

    This thread is becoming surreal.

    Love it smile.png

Reminds me of one time I was at the Bellagio in Vegas. I had to go out that night and be dressed well, I went into a shop downstairs in the lobby. I needed a pair of black socks and the guy was telling me how great his socks were. So I told him just give me 6 pairs, it came out to nearly $800. So I told the guy maybe I just need one pair. lol I can't remember what they were made of but I saved around $650 by only opening my wallet a little bit. i felt like a loser having to back pedal. Those were the days!

Yeah, but all these amazing savings are the spices of life :)

Not so long ago some friends and I woukd never miss an occasion to fly to singapore to buy socks around Orchard Road. Far cheaper there.

And by staying at the Marriott Tang Plaza we saved a lot on the limo costs. All malls are at walking distance. Sweet (super savings) memories :)

  2. I probably change my underwear more than you. do you prefer to live in farang country above poverty line(just above 1000$ a month in the USA) and still no be able to eat and dress correctly? or live under poverty line (35k baths/month ) and live well in Thailand with condo in a high rise building, scooters, beach, nice weather, bus transport, fly with a jet, good food?

I m living a very nice life with half of a poverty line salary. just this morning, I woke up with a very sexy lady sleeping near me, watched TV, and ate fruits and crackers with my coffee. what about that?

'a very sexy lady sleeping near me'...

that happens to me all the time! bummer there is a hotel room wall between her and me...

can't believe this thread is still alive. and how it has evolved from it's humble beginnings. diamonds and caviar?

    not on my menu!

Diamonds, crackers, caviar, AND great savings !

This thread is indeed doing surprisingly well :)

  3. I don't care about caviar. my friend from Russia bring me tons of caviar every year I m sick of it.

I drink champagne too but I don't like alcohol so much.

I m not impressed with your spending and your fake 5stars lifestyle , it s like a guy I met who spend 20 millions in a house in Thailand set to a Thai name, now probably living back in his farang country after his gay friend quit him. just another showoff dumb farang.

new tip for you: you just have to go to a nice hotel . no need to register, pay 100 baths to reception and you are free to use the swimming pool and fitness room. what about that?

(if you nice with the lady, she will let you use the pool for free)

again, I just saved a few thousand baht and have a kickass life.

Aw... You misunderstood my (our) messages.

I really admire you, and the way you succeed in saving so much, while (seemingly) staying happy and still enjoying all those things that make living in Thailand so worthwhile (crackers,...).

Your way of life is the dream we all aspire to reach.

I may not be as smart, skillful, cautious and wise as you are, but I really try hard to follow your model of life.

I even decided that today I will not visit the M Floor of Siam Paragon (Piaget, Bulgari, Cartier, PMT Hour Glass, Patek...), and stay the whole afternoon at the food garden in the basement. Will have one of these succulent noodle soups and a bottle of water. Nobody needs more than that on a Sunday afternoon. Great saving again.

Thank you for the inspiration you provide us to reach a better life, and your great advices to make it so much cheaper.

Not sure where I will store all that money that you make me save, but I will think about it later, the day I become as good as you :)

(And thanks for the entertainment too, love it :) )

  4. i suggest you take a look at an IF 4.5 ct, top wesselton, blue-white. don't buy it but use the savings for crackers and once in a while 50 grams of Iranian Beluga.

    Today I make big savings.

    - I save on the blue-white.

    - I eat oscietra instead of beluga.

    - I buy the 4.5ct

    - I keep the 3.01ct for tomorrow.

    Great savings.

Life is really cheap in Thailand when you can control your wallet :)

  5. fruits and crackers with my coffee

that is indeed luxury pure. now i'm jealous! dry.png

The crackers made me crack smile.pngsmile.pngsmile.png

By the way, I did not open my wallet yet, but I hesitate between a 3.01ct F/vvs2 and a 4.50ct G/vs1... to make a new ring. The difference is price is quite big, of course. Should I take both?

a difficult decision. if you take both stones you might not be able to afford crackers with your next sunday breakfast.

But I would be left with the fruits...

Fruits seem to deliver lots of happiness to some. Not sure about the result if eaten without crackers though...

On the other side, I could not be happy with anything smaller than 3.01, or less than G...

I think I will go for both stones AND the crackers! Let's be crazy :)

  6. Okay if my thread about being rich isn't suitable for public consumption, perhaps we should begin to question the motives of this one? Could it be anymore obvious this is nothing more than a troll post?
    A thread about being rich?

    Where?

    Would love to participate smile.png

Did you know that the cost to change 4 Aventador tyres is nearly the same as the cost of a yearly (non-voting) membership at the RBSC? Interesting, isn't it?

This (opposite type of) thread may only based on a troll post, but it's fun anyway smile.png

how much do i save per month if i don't buy every day 4 Aventator tyres? huh.png

    4,680,000b (for a month of 30 days).

The price of a nice watch.

The advantage of modern cars though, is that you don't have to change the tyres every day (Great additional savings) smile.png

    i don't buy cheap watches dry.png

If you do NOT buy 4 Aventador tyres every day, for 30 days, AND you also do NOT buy a watch, at approximately the price of 120 Aventador tyres, then you save enough to buy a minuscule condo in some remote Bangkok suburbs... But, why would you do that? Personally I go for the tyres :)

  9. I was looking at the Thailand Elite web site again (in case there was any news on new perks). Did not notice anything but did notice two things that caught my eye:

    1) Yearly health care check-up

    2) Discounts at shopping/restaurants

Anyone have any details on this?

For the health care check-up, is it the full whiz-bang executive super-deluxe probe-every-orifice and scan every cell checkup, or just the stick out your tongue and say Ahh?

For the shopping/restaurants, anyone know if there is a list or can ball park the discounts (5% on non-sale items on the low end, to 50% off Starbucks and 2:1 First Class Seats at Cinema each time... that might clinch it for me actually). Imagine 50% off Starbucks and this would pay for itself O.o!

Okey, I'll partially answer my own question (I should spend more time digging through their web site). Starbucks does NOT appear to be on the list. Shopping appears to be the standard 5% off regular priced items and 10% off regular priced items at The Mall / Paragon.

Note: You can get an Expatriate M-Card from The Mall Group already for free which gives you the 5% off regular priced items already (plus you get points). Combined with it being 'regular' priced, a sale would net you a bigger discount. So not TOO much of a benefit in this regard.

The restaurants, quick random click seems to suggest 5-15% off on select restaurants. Does not include street vendors tongue.png Includes a lot of 'Fine Dining' / Dress-To-Impress restaurants, so good if you frequent these types of restaurants. None in Pattaya, about 20 in Bangkok. If it only had Starbucks... and Krispy Kreme... and After You... or BP Muscle tongue.png (protein powder technically counts as food!)

No details on their medical service, so still appreciate some advice there.

Some other perks are there (http://www.thailandelite.com/privilege.php) worth looking at if you are on the cusp. But nothing that I would say is *KILLER* feature that you gotta have.... like 50% off on Starbucks.

Okey, I'll stop talking about Starbucks...for now....

I went for a medical checkup at Bangkok Hospital in Phuket... once.

You can easily book through the TE member contact center.

The floor used for the medical check up (at that particular place at least) is indeed looking good. Relaxed atmosphere, nearly luxury, with classy and rather warm welcome.

The checkup is rather compete (takes half a day), but since I am not very much into these things, I don't really know what they checked.

All in all, the checkup is an "ok" experience..., especially for someone like me who tries to keep away from these types of places.

Ok... until a doctor finds something that has to be checked further.

In that case... you end up on another "normal" floor, with all the other people, nurses who smile much less, sick people everywhere, like in a typical hospital atmosphere.

    I never went back smile.png

But, I guess that smart Thailand Elite members take advantage of this complementary medical checkup every year... When it is about health it is important (and free) (as long as we don't need further treatment).

I wonder if that is the Ultimate Check-Up: http://www.bangkokhospital.com/index.php/en/packages-promotions/health-checkup-packages

Which is a 23k package. (TO be honest, that's so cheap compared to the western world one should go for it all the time). But that is a 115k discount to the 500k package, bringing down the TE to 385k. Btw, are you on the 5-year or 20-year plan? (Might be different hospital perks).

For what I remember, it seems that what I got was the Executive Checkup (fits my age too).

I am on the 20yrs plan indeed.

I think that the complementary health checkup is an interesting perk.

But, inevitably, if you check you health regularly you will end up finding something you may have preferred not to find... Not the funniest perk ;)

And, once your doctor found "something", new hospital bills will quickly follow...

  11. Guys (at least the ones who like the Thailand Elite program), we apparently can prepare ourselves for "news" about the program this coming 7th of June.

It´s been soooo quiet in this thread for a few days now. Is that because everyone is so thrilled and excited by anticipation? ;-))

    DUS

Tomorrow is the BIG day :) :) :)

Farang world will have have a sleepless night in anticipation indeed :)

I look forward to read the news !

Whatever the news is, what is totally certain is that this thread will gain a new life :)

  12. They made this video to explain the deal on YouTube.

    cheesy.gif

i watched the video advertisement, and i laughed all the time.

    LOL @ 24 hour help line from 6am - 9pm daily !!!

LOL LOL LOL you can't make this up !!!

After you wrote that above I had to listen to the video and it does actually say that I laughed so much excellent comedy
    Uhm... Yes.

THAT is really not honest from Thailand Elite !!!

    What an outrage !!!

ONLY the Thailand Elite members (those who pay) have access to the Member Service 24hrs a day.

And NOT the ones who would be, maybe, remotely, slightly, half genuinely, not genuinely for most, interested in contacting Southpoint Condos to require (free) information :(

Thailand Elite should indeed be MUCH more accommodating to those remotely potential farang customers, who, most probably don't even have the funds to buy such a (Pattaya) lower level unit in this Southpoint project, but represent such a great portion of the farang population.

Instead of taking care of these highly valuable potential customers (in the eyes of many tv forum posters, at least), the remotely interested potential buyers MUST contact the Southpoint selling team directly... An during office hours!

    Outrageous indeed.

The quick fix is to buy a "serious" condo, in a "serious" place, and contact Thailand Elite to become a (valuable) member :)
