In my interpretation the Buddha did leave his family. Becoming enlightened did not make him any less a man. He was a real man, a human who lived and breathed on this earth. His 'family' were more or less forced upon him by the trappings of his palace lifestyle... and he left because he had to ... this is why monks are celibate ...

Thought it might have been him Spuds, thanks... I missed the series as I was in Thailand

That Limoncello looks nice Maestro

Mobi's idea is best - I did it and it was okay, at exit point in airport we just explained that the old passport had been lost and it was no problem

Hi Mellow, a little more info then, was it Chalong or Patong police?
-
A bit more info on where this happened (very important) and what countries you are both from would help an answer. In Thailand, if that's where you are, it depends a lot on the area...

Contact Gordon at Chalong. He has the perfect launch for this sort of trip. I shall PM you Sparky's number and he will give you Gordon's - Gordon is good with this sort of thing Gerd

Hi Sweet Chariot, when you live in the south of Thailand it is very humid and in a non concrete home clothes go mouldy!!! Yuch!!! Horrid smell and grey spots all over your clothing.
Tonite for me it is blowing a gale, raining and wild and I feel all cosy wrapped up in my scarves and a French cashmere/silk wrap

Sorry to hear that Donna dear. The KR killed something like a million or so Cambodians and other nationalities. Reckon the OP has gone walkies...

It's odd as I rarely post in here really but Boo's post in this thread made me think of several (yes several) Western men I know in Thailand who are gay and have Thai male lovers/boyfriends but the Thai guy's wife and children knows about them and accepts it - guess it's either open mindedness or financial

Since when did 10,000 baht = $3,000

What's your avatar supposed to mean OP?
Favourite place - seaside (Haven't got a pic right now)

Wow Bina, very interesting indeed. What's Kegeling?

Well the symptoms are pains in the calf area if it's a lower clot. If it goes untreated the leg starts to swell from the ankle to below the knee. One way the hospital test initially is to hold your heel and wiggle your calf - you can do this yourself. If your calf moves back and forth freely you should be fine. But if there is any stiffness in the calf you really ought to see a doctor.
The treatment is Heparin to start with (injections in the stomach) and then Warfarin for six months to disolve the clot so that it doesn't move to your lungs or head

Sorry about my Lighthouse comment - I've been updated and I realise it's now run by a Thai family. The Canadians didn't last long
On topic, I know there are a few Karaoke bars just a few blocks south of Chalong circle and someone tried a sort of girly bar on the right before Gang Eng - never saw many customers there though
-
Totally wrong about The Lighthouse - it was rented out to a Canadian couple who now manage it, Jimmy is still in the driving seat

The worst thing that ever happened to me on the Haa Yeeak Chalong was I stalled my bike as I was turning from Rawai to Chalong Nok... red face or what ???
-
God I have traversed this roundabout sooo many times, it's a crap roundabout full stop, absolutely crap

Well Bina I normally totally respect your meanderings but this time I am not sure. I would like to know how people manage in the rice fields regards menstruation. But if you are saying you can actually 'manage' your blood flow I'd be very interested to hear how you do it :
Quote from you '' but i also can control when to release the blood junk; i know it sounds wierd; i even read an article about that once, i thought it was only me; i wait, go to the toilet, and release all the 'gunk' at once, two days i do that and i use pads, they really stay basically clean... thats apparently a 'new' method, but i think its actually a 'primitive' method; after all, most societies didnt used to use stuff for menstruation(no underwear) so figured, if a woman can control herself with 'kegeling' then she can do that for releasing pee and menstrual flow.
i also find that kegeling releases that 'heavy swollen genital lip' feeling (i'm sure im not the only one that feels that also)''

In 2006 while I was mostly working in our bar in Thailand, sitting a lot and generally not moving much except to get hubby's lunch/dinner in the village on the bike ... I got a blood clot (DVT) in my left leg... beware all ye island dwellers who use motorbikes to nip to the local shop... not a smart idea
