  1. Try Amarin Nakhon Hotel 300-500 baht, 3/1 Thanon Chaophraya or Lithai Guesthouse, 300-500 baht, 73/1-5 Thanon Phayalithai, or London Hotel, 200 baht, 21-22 Soi Phuddhabucha and finally... Phitsanulok Youth Hostel, 38 Thanon Sanambin, 200-400 baht or 120 for a dorm

  2. In my interpretation the Buddha did leave his family. Becoming enlightened did not make him any less a man. He was a real man, a human who lived and breathed on this earth. His 'family' were more or less forced upon him by the trappings of his palace lifestyle... and he left because he had to ... this is why monks are celibate ...

  3. Hi Sweet Chariot, when you live in the south of Thailand it is very humid and in a non concrete home clothes go mouldy!!! Yuch!!! Horrid smell and grey spots all over your clothing.

Tonite for me it is blowing a gale, raining and wild and I feel all cosy wrapped up in my scarves and a French cashmere/silk wrap :o

  4. It's odd as I rarely post in here really but Boo's post in this thread made me think of several (yes several) Western men I know in Thailand who are gay and have Thai male lovers/boyfriends but the Thai guy's wife and children knows about them and accepts it - guess it's either open mindedness or financial

  5. Well the symptoms are pains in the calf area if it's a lower clot. If it goes untreated the leg starts to swell from the ankle to below the knee. One way the hospital test initially is to hold your heel and wiggle your calf - you can do this yourself. If your calf moves back and forth freely you should be fine. But if there is any stiffness in the calf you really ought to see a doctor.

The treatment is Heparin to start with (injections in the stomach) and then Warfarin for six months to disolve the clot so that it doesn't move to your lungs or head

  6. Sorry about my Lighthouse comment - I've been updated and I realise it's now run by a Thai family. The Canadians didn't last long :o

On topic, I know there are a few Karaoke bars just a few blocks south of Chalong circle and someone tried a sort of girly bar on the right before Gang Eng - never saw many customers there though

  7. Well Bina I normally totally respect your meanderings but this time I am not sure. I would like to know how people manage in the rice fields regards menstruation. But if you are saying you can actually 'manage' your blood flow I'd be very interested to hear how you do it :

Quote from you '' but i also can control when to release the blood junk; i know it sounds wierd; i even read an article about that once, i thought it was only me; i wait, go to the toilet, and release all the 'gunk' at once, two days i do that and i use pads, they really stay basically clean... thats apparently a 'new' method, but i think its actually a 'primitive' method; after all, most societies didnt used to use stuff for menstruation(no underwear) so figured, if a woman can control herself with 'kegeling' then she can do that for releasing pee and menstrual flow.

i also find that kegeling releases that 'heavy swollen genital lip' feeling (i'm sure im not the only one that feels that also)''
