Suicide is committed by 1000's of people in all countries throughout the world. Local people have access to and more knowledge of how to, car exhausts etc. Nothing is going on, visitors who wish to do it just follow others in the media reported ways, of which some are turned into mass conspiracies, by people who need to find reasons that do not exist! RIPCondolences to the family and R.I.P. - I don't know the details of this; however, I have never heard of so many balcony jumps as in Thailand. What is going on ??

I don't know, can you tell me? Remember, these are not Thai criminals and examples have to me made! Will the bad guys be deported or buy their way out? I guess we all know the answer.

Textbooks are used (or not used) to teach grammar, something many students are already okay with. What is needed are QUALIFIED native speaking teachers who can train students to think, speak and pronounce correctly. English programmes in schools are a good idea, currently being ruined by bad Western and Thai teaching staff!Perhaps next year some of that money will go towards buying TEXTBOOKS for the students' English classes.

Ever thought that might be the marketing plan?Banning it only attracts more attention..

That doesn't really make much sense. All countries have to levy import tariffs and taxes in order to get funds to support new projects. Luxury cars are for the rich so let them pay for them regardless of how high the taxation is! All governments need an income so would you like to see the money raised from luxury cars dropped and the same amount of taxation placed on, let's say, rice? That way the rich get their cars cheap and everyone else pays for them! Makes more sense to make sure the rate of duty is paid
right. Cut down tax on cars, encourage modern cars that consume little. The practices worried foreign auto makers, who are considering moving production bases to neigbouring countries if they continue, while certain Japanese producers may stop complete knocked down (CKD) assembly here because their business is hurt by lower prices and great availability of smuggled or illegally imported luxury cars, Suparat said.
If it wasn't for the dumb-ass import tariffs then there wouldn't be a bl00dy market for smuggled cars (and bikes) ...<deleted>

Oh God, really? Some go over private land.... I don't want to comment any moreAre these canals private or public? If they are the latter, they cannot be filled. The land title deeds would show.
Private canals are dug to catch excess water so that the ricefields can be drained during harvesting time. They can only be seen useful during the draining of the fields, and not when the fields are submerged during the wet season or during the dry season when the fields are parched.

I have lived here 33 years and I disagree. What we are getting now, which we didn't a short while ago is, and thanks to multi media, a 24 hour coverage of news that has happened or presumed to have happened. As their isn't enough real news to cover the 24 hours let's just exaggerate the pipettes that we can get. Pipettes that are jumped upon by TV posters (as well as others) and further exaggerated! Follow the world news and despite claims of more scams, more murders, etc. etc, Thailand is still a safer and more enjoyable place than many western countries. That point can be borne out by the number of moaners who still choose to live here, even if because of their chosen way of life, they only see the worst in the place!Thailand will not adapt, option number 2 will always be around but I believe this is a very small portion of tourism. The issue that will kill the rest of the tourism is the corruption. I was sitting at a starbucks on Sukhumvit RD yesterday and watched the police scam the tourist at about 2000 Bahht each. First it was a couple of middle eastern gentlemen walking down the street smoking then 2 young ladies from Hong Kong, not sure what they scammed them for. Not sure if these guys are even police as they do not carry weapons, but inbetween there scams they walk around the corner have a smoke then toss the butt on the ground when finished and ignore the locals as they only target farangs.
This is just one of many scams by the police or the locals against the farang tourist, we see articles about this weekly on this forum. Word of mouth when these tourist have these types of experiances will start having a ripple effect, thus the trend that less sweds are comign like another post this week. I am sure it is just not the sweds as I travel in and out of Thailand several times per month, the majority of the tourist coming here now are the Chinese and the Russians which will also be short term.
Call me a a doomsayer also but I have been taveling here for 15 years and they are only adapting for the worst, more scams, more murders, etc. etc.!

Democracy doesn't work in the west, where the majority are controlled by the rich and powerful, so why should it work here? The main problem with posters on politics is that they came from their own countries as minnows, and now, because they have slightly more money than Thai farmers, they think that they are whales!
Ahh typical red response, make a comment, but don't like the response, so change tack; by explaining what you didn't say, reaffirm how a government is formed in the name of democracy, job done.
1) I never said they couldn't protest, just that their turnout is pitiful
Two very pertinent things can be taken from your 'sarcastic' 6 words - RTGood turnout. Less than 100!
Retards!
1) you clearly don't support freedom of speech or the right to demonstrate
2) you seem to believe that might = right
It appears the 'mask' of red democracy has slipped a wee bit there and the real face has been exposed - Nice one RT
.
2) The government is elected because the highest number of voters chose them over the other parties, so yes numbers are extremely important
What you don't realize is that tone of your initial post says more about your view of democracy, legitimate peaceful protests and the right to be heard, than a million of your written posts could - Nice one RT. The mask of red democracy has slipped so far it must be round your ankles by now.

Apparently they're made of dogs balls!Or meatballs (wonder if they were exporting them to the UK) ?
meatball plant, meatball manufacturers
I wonder if they are referring to those little balls of meat-like substance you see on the vendor's carts ? (I never try them as I have no idea what they are, or what they're made of.)

Lost mine one time, immigration officer at Chiang Rai immigration asked me where it was? I told him I had no idea, he sighed and stapled a new blank one in my passport. Next time I left the Country the immigration chap took it out of my passport, wrote something on it and gave me the passport back. Total cost 0 baht, total problem zilch!

Yes, it's the way some TV posters like to change things to help them prove (sic) what really happened. A good example is that this Westerner was killed "doing his job". So, they don't post that all journalists are reckless in their behavior just RIP and that the court is wrong! A Thai bus driver is killed "doing his job" according to some posters ALL Thai bus drivers are complete idiots and should be shot.... and that is before it even gets to a court"The court therefore believes [...]"
A verdict based on belief. Seems this is becoming a habit with Thai criminal courts in the recent trials concerning the Red Riot 2010.
A verdict based on the facts put before the inquest.
I can't quite work this out yet, perhaps you can help. First of all during the Abhisit period a number of posters on this forum had the opinion that all Judges were whiter than white and could no wrong especially if they found against a member of the UDD or PTP.3 Years later, the Judges still can do no wrong when in the recent inquests they couldn't really tell if the Army were responsible for killing someone and say so in their verdict.
Yet the minute they find that the Army is responsible for the death of an civilian all kinds of excuses are dragged out as to how these very same Judges are suddenly mistaken in their verdicts.
Any thoughts?
