  1. come to thailand & get your 30days upon entry. go to a visa agent who will for a fee get your retirement visa in 1day. no muss, no fuss.....

no muss no fuss, other than the fact it will cost between 35-49000 baht, well that's what I have been offered so far.

No needs for funds in the bank and they only need your passport for 1 day. All legit, and what with theses crackdowns don't be surprised if the visa is cancelled at any time and you get thrown in jail.

    no muss no fuss.

Rubbish. You are being ripped off blind and if you accepted 35-49000 then you're a fool too.

12 grand to have an extension to my visa B 3 years ago, 30 to 60 minutes later, on my way home.

No muss, no fuss. Pm for more details. I've helped a few on here already. :-)

Far from being ripped off it has saved me money. I would have been happy to pay 10 to 15,000, but am now going to do it myself. Should cost no more than 5000.

Yes I know I could pay the extra money as you did and get someone to do it for me. But I'm retired and have nothing else to do.

    The joys of sarcasm huh.

Enjoy your full day of getting the runaround at immigration then. After all, you have nothing better to do. I have. Get there very early ...

We can all be sarky, mate.

  2. Getting your Retirement Visa in Thailand is easy, I did it 5 years ago, came in on a 30 day, went to Jomtien Immigration and extended to 90 day. Then applied for Retirement Visa. I had all my paper work, Police Report from Aus, Dr Certificate, 2 Aus Pension Statements, Photo Copies of Passport, Photo's and TM47 filled in. When I went to make sure i had all i needed was told, Police report. Not Want, DR Cirt. Not Want. Take your Pension Statements to Aus Embasy in Bangkok get them photo copied sign certified copy. Back to Immigration handed paperwork in, part with fee, back next day and Passport Stamped with 1 year visa, Now all I do is fill in a Australian Statuary Declaration Form stating my income, get my Embassy to copy and sign certified copy. and reapply every year. Income in your case Thai Bank statement. Good Luck

You could have saved all that hassle by going to one of the visa agents on soi buakaew, paying the fee and picking your passport up a few hours later. 12-14 grand, job done.

  4. The problem is that Thais have been 'looking the other way' for WAY too long and that's why it's in the mess it's in, and why it needed yet another coup to sort the country out ...

If this 'looking the other way' over visas is indicative of the way the junta is going, then I don't hold out much hope for Thailand ...

Up to now, Gen Prayut has been doing a damn fine job of looking directly at problems and trying to deal with them. Don't spoil it now, General ...

Damn, the honeymoon between the old right-wing codgers and the general didn't last long.

Obviously, you have considerable deficits in perception. You plainly did not understand one word of what I was saying. Sorry if you couldn't understand my oblique remark.

We just have to wait and see which way the General, sorry, PM, jumps. To the old way, or stick with reforms and renew the culture which has had Thailand stuck in the mud for so long ...

  5. These language 'schools' are a joke. None of them provide any real benefits, they don't care about degrees, standard of English, work permits, type of visa held. If you can breathe, speak English and (in some cases) don't smell of booze when you come in, you have a job. A job where the money hasn't changed in the 10 years I've been here and is a pittance nowadays. 300 baht an hour? I wouldn't (and don't) get out of bed for that

All they want is any white face with a smattering of English to feed the conveyor-belt fodder classes every weekend, where kids are dumped (to mainly play games) so the mum can go shopping.

  6. As for your other points, the demand for Thai teachers in the west is much smaller than for English teachers in Thailand. What makes English so special? Surely you are aware that English is (aside from Mandarin) the most widely spoken language in the world and is the accepted language of business, etcetera, etcetera.. and that Thai is primarily useful only in Thailand (and maybe Laos)?

Well said. That original post you replied to was badly thought out and which is why I refused to quote it again.

I was astonished at the tone - why is English so special?' was said.

Well, for the precise reason you quoted.

That OP has some serious deficits in thinking ability ...

  7. So ...

The police were tasked by the NCPO

They found that 'Investigations have revealed that the actions were part of a larger movement aimed at destabilizing the country.'

While the Yingluck government was in power.

    Logical conclusion, ....

    It was Thaksin.

    Yeah, right.

    Posters here are basically blind.

Is there any particular reason why someone like you that has extensive knowledge in all things Thai only has 37 posts?

    Another sockpuppet?

  9. "Investigations have revealed that the actions were part of a larger movement aimed at destabilizing the country."

    So the culprit was Suthep?

It clearly states, "from abroad" agenda again ?? number 3 on the topic trying to hog it with anti investigation propaganda ??

So it was someone from abroad who wanted to destabilize the Yingluck government. Gee, Suthep and others inside of Thailand wanted the Yingluck government to fail, maybe they have friends abroad.

What the hel# are you talking about ??? re-read the topic again without trying to high-jack it--agenda ??

High-jack the agenda? I'm just wondering who "aimed at destabilizing the country" while Yingluck and the PTP were in charge.

Gosh, you're really not very bright, are you?

  10. I send all my friends and customers to this beach,

    Suan Son Beach
A great alternative to Hua Hin main beach

Suan Son Beach has now become a weekend getaway for Thai families as well as the top choice on the place to visit list of the foreigners who come to spend their leisure here in Hua Hin

Suan Son Pradipaht or Sea Pine Tree Garden is located in a military camp about 9km south of Hua Hin. This beach has long been accepted as one of the most popular beaches in Hua Hin. Belonging to the Army Welfare office, the beach is open from around 5.30 am until midnight.

    How to go
Suan Son Beach is located within easy reach. It is at Km. 241 on Petchkasem Rd. only 9km from the centre of Hua Hin. You can take Tuk-Tuk, Songtaew, motorbike or your own vehicle. There is a low entrance fee of 10 baht for motorbikes, 20 baht for cars and 40-80 baht for buses (depending on the size). Go get refreshed at this famous beach, relax and enjoy the view of this beautiful beachside area. It can be assured that it is the best way to spend any of your free days.
A tranquil and relaxing place to visit
This amazing beach in Hua Hin gives you a glimpse of genuine Thai beach life. It is one of the places you might want to consider, when escaping from the commercial tourism. Suan Son Beach was officially opened to the public as a tourist destination at the end of 2001.

The beach is very good for swimming and other beach activities, with fewer rocks than there are at Hua Hin main beach. The remarkable feature of this beach, as the name suggests, is the Sea Pine trees (Son) that grow in rows giving an orderly look.

These Pine trees provide adequate shade for one to sit and relax while admiring the beauty of nature, cool sea breeze touching ones face calmly. The vast area of Suan Son Beach makes it possible for various kinds of group activities such as football, which always is an almost permanent feature of this beach. Taking a walk on the white powdery sand along this beach is another almost certain thing one would to coming to this beach in Hua Hin.
    Get a comfortable stay here
Another reason why people keep coming to this Suan Son Beach is because of the variety of accommodation that is available here. Hotels and bungalows with required facilities in this delightful atmosphere is the ideal place to spend your time. You have a wide range of types and price of the room you want to stay in. The price of hotel rooms ranges between 1,600 baht to 7,000 baht per night for general people. As for bungalows, the price ranges from 1,800 baht to 3,400 baht. Get full rest in these well-maintained accommodations at Suan Son Beach and rejuvenate yourself, receive the fresh and cheerful feeling nature will provide. Though Suan Son Beach is billed as one of the most popular beaches in Hua Hin where people prefer to pay a visit and spend their time, it retains its beauty and freshness perfectly well.
Feel free to enjoy yourself in a safe place
One major advantage of this place is the soldiers belonging to the military camp who take care of the place, so the tourists and the guests who stay in the area will feel safe. You may even take a tour around this spacious camp to get a better idea and feel of the place. The well-laid garden is another attractive element here. Various restaurants serve a wide variety of food at reasonable prices. Be happy and relaxed to the full extent, on the sandy beach that virtually connects to Khao Tao which is some 3 kilometers to the south. The sparkling sea in the front, Khao Tao on your right, Khao Takiab on your left is one of the rare views you can have only here

This has been well known for those of us who have been here for a long time BUT you really need a car to get about in, and Hua Hin taxis and vans are great rip-off merchants, same as the beach hawkers.

  11.

Yes I know it's a right pain, I had a similar situation, when applying for a Retirment Visa it's important to get a multi entry Retirment visa, rather than a single one, which I previously had, and like you when I left Thailand for a few days, got told the same as yourself, I ended up having to go through the whole process again... Lesson learned though, but I just wish they had mentioned this when I originally applied.

    All the best

You can't have a multiple entry retirement visa. You get an extension of your previous visa based on retirement if you fulfil the requirements.

Then, if you want to leave the country for any reason, you can apply for a re-entry permit, single or multiple as you need.

Jeez, I do wish some people would post accurate information on here, and also learn the laws of the country you have chosen to live in.

It's not rocket science - and it's NOT your home country.  The laws are not the same.  Do some basic research and then you won't end up with egg on your face and a big bill.

I've had a retirement visa for three years, left the country six times and never had a problem.  It's called using your brain...

    It's called using your brain.

    Woopy doo, get you.

Seriously Thai visa rules and regs are a total nightmare. Just read the threads on here, not many people have a clue about anything.

And please the argument about your own counties rules... How many people would have a clue about what visa they would need to have in their own country?

I'm English I lived in England for 50 years, I never had to get a visa to live in England, I just did it. Pray tell me why I should know what visa I would need to live in England.

Well, you don't seem to make much use of what brain you have - you're English and yet you think you need a visa to live there?

    Bwahahahahahaha!!!!    cheesy.gif cheesy.gif cheesy.gif

And the reason Thai Immi regs seem confusing to you is because for you, you certainly don't seem to have much of a brain.  :-)
