South African woman gets life sentence reduced in Thailand

And no jury, just quite possibly a bent cop, bent lawyer and bent judge. Don't mess with the IRS, nor any other government agency. And most of all, dodgy expats. -
South African woman gets life sentence reduced in Thailand

I wasn't suggesting it was fentanyl. Quite the opposite. Big pharma is currently paying out billions of $ in compensation to all the American addicts who got prescribed it and thereafter couldn't get enough. Now that's a dangerous drug! Available on prescription in the US and on every street corner. What's with the Thai judges and police? Hit her so hard she'll never get up again? Lock her up forever and forget about her? How can they just wash their hands of this? It's plain sadistic what they've done. If you read the link posted to the website set up for her defense it should tell you everything about this case. -

I used to visit a mate in klong prem special wing. He got out after 2 1/2 from an initial 10 year stretch. Immediate deportation and into PTSD counselling. You're right. A very tough assignment. -

The article says it was a sting, so she's been set up. By whom? Somebody being paid off. Most, if not all, big drug busts are a result of collusion between cops and a Mr Big further up the line. Sacrificial lambs. The cops get the drugs and the publicity, the Mr Big gets to stay in business until the next payment is due. You think anything happens here without money exchanging hands?- 206 replies

I saved myself the trouble of visiting tuk com, and googled what to do if you forget your password. So yes, you can get the phone back into working order but with no data, and no apps. Not a problem as you'll be backed up normally by Google, so you'll need your Google user ID and password. Plus other stuff in certain circumstances. So there is no way these guys could have got into his phone and thus his bank, without cracking his phone's password and then his banking app password. If there's software to do that, crack those passwords, I'm not sure how long it would take, nor anything about how the software operates. For petty phone theft it doesn't seem feasible, but I guess for large scale thievery it could be. I guess for well qualified hackers it would be a p o p. But worth it? Hard to say. And in the end, if you've got his banking app login details, why not just download the banking app and log in from there. No need to use his locked phone at all.

There were a couple of links to a 2018 Vietnamese forum discussing Wrlife. So not that new. -

Kray khay khai gai? All words completely distinguishable in Thai. Different tones, vowel lengths and initial consonants. How about Mai may my Mai mhay? New wood doesn't burn, does it? -

Hey, you contributed a lot of good advice and comment. Don't feel bad! I think everyone would like a bit more transparency from them. Even my agent agreed. It was quite frustrating trying to tease out the information I had when I signed up, but in the end, it was just a put up or shut up to my brain. Too many questions! But I think maybe they're learning. -

There have been a few who have said their claims were successful, here, and elsewhere. And AA in Pattaya seem confident in Wrlife. Not a lot to make an informed decision, but you have to go with your own assessment. This might involve cost, alternatives, can you trust anybody anywhere in any case, agent's opinion, opinions here, bar talk, live chat, Siri, Google, trustpilot, scamadvisor, you name it. Eventually it's your sleepless nights that are the issue. 10k THB pm to get some bxxxxx rest. Ok, I'm in. Nothing's guaranteed in this life, except death and tax. Is Wrlife ant less likely to pay out than the competition? No idea. But at least I can afford to find out. -
A 6 digit code has 1m combinations. And there's two of them, one to unlock the phone (forget tuk com, unlocking there is simply to unlock for use abroad), and one to get into the banking app. Or a fingerprint, which is unique, or a swipe pattern, which would also be extremely difficult to crack. And the banking app will only transfer to another bank account, or promptpay, or by scanning a qr code for payment, right? All 3 of those should be easily traceable by the bank, to the recipient. But apart from that, how long before you realised your wallet (you carry your phone in a wallet?) and phone had been stolen? Enough time for the thief to crack 2 million different combinations to unlock the phone AND the banking app? Was it a substantial amount taken? You'd imagine they would have cleaned it out. But, it seems highly improbable they could get into your account in this way, and without leaving any trace. ????????????

Off topic alert... I buy "organic" or at least, free range, if I can, and pay the premium. But I've learnt to store them in the fridge. Even though they have a week showing on the SB date I've had rotten ones before that. Anything but CP.
