  1. Try promoting profoundly anti Semitic views in Washington DC. I don't think they'd go down well. Eliminating Judaism has been tried before, remember? And unless you lived in Iran, advocating the destruction of the state of Israel might also raise eyebrows. But say the same thing about Islam? Well, who cares? There's only 1.8 billion Muslims in the world. Almost a quarter of the world's population. And your ideas are based on the activities of maybe 5,000?
  2. If you said that about Judaism you'd be locked up for life.
  3. Or an orthodox Jew, or a fundamentalist Christian.
  4. Actually ราดหน้า. The หน้า has a falling tone, as does the ราด.
  5. This article first appeared on 21st September in Bangkok Post. If you check Pattaya Airways, which is owned by Pattaya Group, it's based at U Tapao. I put question marks in my comment. They weren't statements. True, there is no info released by Pattaya Group as to out of where their services will be operating. But if U Thapao is involved, then the mafia taxi fares will be a factor for their passenger services, if they exist.
  6. To/from U Thapao? 800 THB into Pattaya? Forget it.
  7. Update: A friend suggested I try this. Miracle! They never reappeared. We put 5 puffs through some 1" holes in the ceiling. That was it. Thanks for all the feedback.
  8. I think for Brits, we're used to free hospitals and forget it doesn't work like that abroad. Very few insure themselves in the UK, I don't suppose.
  9. It's a wonderful country. My daughter taught English there for a year. She took me on a round trip around the whole island. Spotless! The trains, buses, pavements, roads. Everything runs on time. Incredible food. Lovely people. And the Pacific ocean, not some cess pool. Cliffs, chasms, parks. And 30 day visa free stay.
  10. I think there might be a difference between applying in advance at an embassy in a foreign country, and applying yourself, or getting an agent, for instance, to sort it all out when you are in Thailand. I don't believe there is any insurance requirement when applying in Thailand for a non immigrant O category visa, and no requirement when applying for a 12 month extension of stay based on retirement. However, there are in theory financial requirements. Eg 800k in the bank. Perhaps that is part of the reason.
  11. It's probably haemorrhagic. Multiple organ failure. Coma. Death.
  12. It should be a criminal offense to come out with figures like this. Overseen by the Court of Prevention of Complete and Utter BS in Public Life.
  13. What's this got to do with the Anti Trafficking in Persons Division?
  14. What you quote is almost exactly what I pay per month here in Thailand for in patient cover. But I'm 73 with a heart condition. Maybe people should look at getting properly covered at home, by a policy which includes at least some travel. Might work out about the same, or even cheaper.
  15. I had a beautiful friend die of it in a private hospital. Comatose, multiple organ failure, on life support. Family had to decide whether to turn it off.
  16. The haemorrhagic version can be fatal.
  17. I think this version, where she wakes him up and leaves, was in an early edition of the paper. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
  18. Whereas they just provided you with an entire empire.
  19. From The Thaiger article: "Thalerngsak contacted the Thai embassy for advice. The embassy spoke to the supposed police officers and informed Thalerngsak that they were not actual officers. However, fearing for the safety of his mother and aunt, he negotiated and gave them 60 euros, which he claimed was all the money he had left." This doesn't add up at all.
  20. Oh, I thought that was a foot massage!
  21. From The Thaiger, the second of the linked sources. "Upon searching the house, only toy guns and plastic bullets were discovered, with no real firearms present. Despite the imitation nature of the guns, the army doctor is still liable to be charged under Section 392 of the Criminal Law for causing fear and alarm to others. The potential penalty involves imprisonment for up to one month, a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or a combination of both." 10,000 fine? A month in jail? Or both? I'll have to hurry you... Hmm, a month in jail sounds quite pleasant. And the fine's not to be sneezed at. I'll take them both! Doh!
