I bought one from Lazada last year, about 2,500 Baht and it looked very comfortable in the photos. It arrived from China and turned out to be a complete piece of excrement. Very cheaply made, plastic instead of fabric, and the wrong colour. Thank Buddha for that last one as it gave me the excuse to return it and get a full refund. I'll never buy a chair again online, you really need to see them in person and try them out before buying.

I'm tending to agree after reading some of the reviews on Lazada from people who have bought chairs. The photos can be very deceptive of the quality,.

Are the witnesses required to be Australian? Or can a notary public in Thailand do it?

There's quite a few options, police officer, lawyer, etc, etc. I have used both a police officer (free) for my Comsuper pension and a lawyer (500 Baht) for Centrelink. All Thais of course.

I did, but it's a little over your price range...

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/tozient-genuine-leather-chair-i5212249159-s22169991727.html

There were PU and real leather (cowhide) options when buying and I got the cowhide one. PU doesn't last very long and I've had several, including "real leather" from a very famous Thai furniture company... fell apart after less than a year... cracks started forming on "leather" and flaking off. Disappointing.

This one is very decently built and comfortable. Still in perfect shape after over 2 years.

I've had the PU one for over 10 years, had the padded arms re-upholstered a couple of times, but that's it. Cost about 2500 baht fro Thai Watsadu.

    Not yet.

I am waiting for one to be sent to my son's address.

I would have thought you would also get it in your notices on the MyGov website.

If you rang them, surely that's an indicator you are still alive?

No, it's not, they need the hard copy witnessed and signed by one of those designated on the form. You can send it back to them as a PDF document via the MyGov.au website.

    Yup.

    Not really complex.

Hardest part was getting the old one out of the base (large hammer and wood block).

Make sure you get the right length, although I got longer struts being a lanky (but fat) chap.

I will say that they really don't last well with a fat-farang as a load, they start going down under load after a while :whistling:

A piece of 1" PVC pipe slips nicely over the top part and doesn't move. OK no adjustment but once set who needs to move it? Of course you could just do this anyway if you're a cheapskate (paint it black and no-one will ever know) 🙂

EDIT I've not seen a welded-in one and my chairs aren't exactly top class ones.

A Youtube video shows using a pipe wrench to loosen the strut from the top fitting, also giving it a squirt with WD40 before trying to remove it.

What does putting PVC pipe over the top part do?

  6. Anyone received a "Proof of Life" form from Centrelink?

I rang them this morning and asked if they could send the form by email instead of post. Answer no, only post.

Reason I asked is the last (first) one I received arrived afer the due date to return it because of the atrocious mail delivery here. This can result in the age pension being stopped, but it seems sending a PDF by email is too hard or too technical for C'link.

I am disappointed at the lack of imagination and geographical knowledge of UK Politicians, why should we deport Boat People to another state when we could easily send them to Unst (the most northerly of the Shetland Islands) were they could be duly and legally processed within the UK.

Unst is a forbolding place with no trees, cold and dark in winter but benefits from an Air Strip, if you are a genuine asylum seeker you would love Unst, if you are a financial migrant then you would hate it.

Unst needs more infrastructure to benefit it's local population Hospitals and public housing could benefit Unst in the long term, instead of of squandering money on Hotels and the £500,000 per year to the French Navy,

Yes let the Boat People Come and fly them all straight to Unst

Aussie sent them to Nauru or PNG, reduced numbers significantly.

No, what you saw was the end of a previous 15 minutes of Flyod trying to avoid arrest and repeatedly saying he couldn't breathe, way before Cheauvin even arrived on the scene.

The bodycam footage showing this was never aired by the MSM because they wanted to push the racism narrative to the gullible... and it worked.

That whole thing was pushed & stirred up by the mainstream media.

Same as they tried with Nick Sandmann, the 15ye old they named 'maga kid'

Jussie Smollett jumped on that bandwagon.

Yes, there are many who have died and came back, telling of a beautiful place much like earth. Especially children who have told of relatives they never knew anything about that they saw there. It's hopeful that, since God can make a universe from his mind and everything in it, that he could also make a place with a body that doesn't age, where we can enjoy much of what we enjoy here, all without the bad things that are here and people who are only here to hurt or gain for profit, taking advantage of others. I like to think we can come back to earth the way it was before man was put here.

If you come back you haven't really died.

My sight is declining day by day hard to watch TV or even read AN

How old are you? I know at 83 my eyesight has deteriorated so that I no longer read books because of eyes strain, also watching the 55 inch TV can become blurry, it's actually better to watch a smaller screen like a 42 inch. Had eyes checked several time at Bkk/Pattaya hospital, once was told needed a cataract op, next time a different doctor said my eyes were OK. Who do you trust?
