Ripley's 'victim' is a painter; they view a Caravaggio; their view is of stunning Italian coastline; it's difficult to tell if the Picasso on the wall is from his 'blue' period.  There's a discussion about how hideous the colours of a dressing gown is.

    For all that it's riveting.

I agree, it's entertaining, but it doesn't vary much from the movie, so no surprises.

But why shoot it in Black & White?  I am terrified neighbours will call round and think I don't have a colour TV.  Only one episode in and find it very slow after 'Renegade Nell'.

I just started 'A Gentleman in Moscow'.  Ewan McGregor stars despite sporting the most ludicrous false moustache I've seen on TV!

B & W gives an illusion of the era in which it's set. I don't mind it to be honest.

I use the app as well and it comes up as you say one after the other. Probable because the screen is small so the app adjusts for the best presentation.

Wasn't like that before, it was the same as on my PC.

  4. My YouTube layout has changed on my Android tablet since an update. Instead of showing multiple videos across the screen, same as my desktop, it now shows individual videos full screen and you have to scroll down to see the next one, it's horrible. I have looked at a few tutorials on Google but have yet to find one that works. Anyone have a fix?

At 14, it maybe time to think about a probably cheaper to run new twin inverter A/C.

Prices are good, probably cheaper than your old one was....🤗

I already spent about 3000 baht on putting in a new condensor (something that looks a bit like a radiator) and it works fine except for no light on the sensor. Once again, not a lot of use in second bedroom, so a new one isn't justified for the sake of a bulb or whatever it is, which doesn't actually affect the running.

  6. The aircon in the second bedroom works fine, had a new condensor replaced a year ago, so it's as cool as. However the light that lets you know it's on no longer works. I presume this is part of the sensor unit, so does the whole thing need replacing (1200 baht) or can just a globe be replaced?

I had control boards eventually fail on 3 air-cons. The first 2 they charged 2,000+ Baht each to replace. On the 3rd one they had run out of spare control boards so the guy soldered it for a couple of minutes and then it was fine again and no longer needed replacing. Then charged only 500 Baht for the repair service in that one. This tells me they all could have been soldered and not replaced. A nice little business they have going of control boards that all eventually tucker out quickly.

What was the new part he soldered in?

Breaker easy to get to. Switch on front panel needs ladder.

You know what? I think I'm going to go with the breaker idea. I only need to run it a couple of times a month for 30 minutes, so not a big deal.

I think most Samsung aircons have a manual power switch somewhere on the front panel or under the front cover. I have used it on one of our aircons in the past.

If you have the user's manual, it will show where it is located. If you don't have the manual, google the model number.

This won't be a fix, but perhaps more convenient than using the breaker.

The manual switch wouldn't turn it off either.

With a new Carrier inverter it's five-year all parts, ten years compressor.

In any event, dumping 3K into an old unit that has had problems before, just to keep from having to turn the breaker off rather than using the remote makes little sense to me.

Some people used to park their (manual) car on a hill rather than buy a new battery.

How old and how big is it? If you can afford to dump 3K into a ten-year-old unit you'll get a 30-day warranty on, you can afford to spent 20K on a new unit that comes with a five-year warranty.

Like I said, rarely used, so it will be good enough for the times it does. It's 24000 btu.

It seems he did already many things. Did he do those things to solve the problem which you describe? Or independent of that?

Because if he did those things to solve above problem and now he suggests another thing, then that sounds more like: Just do everything part by part new, and then sell him a new AC.

The aircon wasn't blowing cold air previously, so thatvwas a separate problem.

What brand is it?  Have you turned off main breaker for few minutes and then turn on and see if it starts again?  That will work for some board issues (until next power failure).  But if have to replace board 3k is likely a good price - we paid 5,500 few weeks ago after voltage drop to 108v for extended period during the night.

No, tried turning it on and off at the breaker but it didn't fix it. It's a Samsung.

Sounds about right, my A/C has one board that does everything, complicated piece of kit.

Fan in one of mine played up, I found a new replacement on Lazada, 900bht, fitted it myself without disturbing the gas pipes, was a bit of a pain to do, but it works OK.

The fan works fine but the remote won't turn it off, it has to be turned off at the breaker box.
