I think the headline: "Thaksin Flees The Capital" is a very misleading and a bit irresponsible. It insinuates that he is fleeing the governemnt, which he is not.

Normally car is always responsible for injuries to someone on a motorbike, even if they are at fault.
Been in a few accidents myself, and I am only 1/2, but never been blamed for one that wasn't my fault (ok ok, one of them was my fault, but the guy didn't want money).
Get an insurance firm involved, and I think you'll find that the party responsible ends up paying.
but that is BKK, up country might be a bit different..
From the few interviews I've done with foreigners who've had accidents, knowing Thai has been key to getting a fair shake, no matter whose fault it was. If you don't know Thai, get a Thai friend or family member involved quickly.
The "jackpot lottery" mentality with injury is not just a Thai fantasy. It's a regular thing back in the states where you have people faking injuries constantly to try and cash in.

คุณอย่าลืมนะคะ ว่า คำว่า พัฒนาแล้ว นิยามของมันตามความหมายของปรัชญาตะวันออก ไม่เหมือนกับตะวันตกค่ะ และคุณก็จัดอยู่ในขั้น"ด้อยพัฒนา" สำหรับความหมายตามนิยามตะวันออก เพราะอะไรนะเหรอ คนตะวันออกคิดว่าคนที่พัฒนาแล้ว คือคนที่ลดอัตตาของตนเองให้ต่ำลงเพื่อเปิดมุมมองการใช้ชีวิตของตนเองให้กว้างขึ้นไงคะ คนเหล่านี้จะคอยศึกษาว่าคนอื่นคิดอย่างไร ทำ อย่างไรด้วยความเคารพ เขาจะไม่หาคำติเตียนหรอกค่ะ แต่เขาจะพยายามค้นหาว่า ทำไมคนในวัฒนธรรมนี้ถึงได้ทำสิ่งนี้ มันอาจจะขัดกับวิถีของตะวันตก แต่คนกลุ่มนี้ เขาจะมองว่า แต่ละที่มันมีบริบท( context ) ทางสังคมต่างกัน จึงมีเหตุผลในการกระทำที่ต่างกัน ดิฉันได้ใช้ตัวชี้วัดตัวนี้แหละค่ะ เป็นตัวตัดสินว่าคนคนไหน เป็นคนที่พัฒนาแล้ว ซึ่งมันทำให้ดิฉันรู้ว่า คนที่พัฒนาแล้วกับคนที่มาจากประเทศพัฒนาแล้ว มันอาจจะไม่ใช่คนกลุ่มเดียวกันก็ได้ สำหรับคุณดิฉันจัดให้เป็นคนที่มาจากประเทศพัฒนาแล้วค่ะ
นอกเรื่องไปสักหน่อย แต่ดิฉันอยากให้คุณหันกลับไปมองตัวคุณเองบ้าง ไม่ใช่คอยแต่หาจุดบกพร่องของคนอื่น นะคะ
และขอโทษด้วยที่ต้องเขียนเป็นภาษาไทยค่ะ เพราะดิฉัน ไม่สามารถใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในการอธิบายข้อความลักษณะนี้ได้

Hello,
Looking for a couple of pieces of information regarding Istanbul...can you pick up the metro from the airport and are there any decent hotels within short walking distance from the hotel in the old city???
Can't seem to find any information on these specifics on the internet...
