  1. Like many other industries the Thai sex industry is largely available online as far as arranging "dates" these days and that began before the pandemic. At least that's what a friend told me so don't ask me which sites.
  2. This link provided above https://m.apkpure.com/section38/th.go.immigration.section38
  3. Getting here was the usual moving labyrinth of requirements, but I've been pleasantly surprised how lax it has been since being sprung from Test and Go 1 day prison. Even in BKK they are getting tired of even doing the Temperature checks.
  4. I wish the currency Gods would at least reward us dirty farangs with better THB exchange rates every time a backward immigration policy is layered atop the already huge pile of buffoonery.
  5. I tried the downloadable APK before and it didn't work, but for some reason when I downloaded it today it did install and I was able to register my wife and I. However it doesn't let you use any date other than today for the arrival date so I just put that.
  6. Thailand = Blockbuster video. Something everyone liked until the rules became onerous and a better option (Netflix) stole their thunder. All along the way Blockbuster had numerous chances to stop the rising Netflix but their arrogance and ignorance made any hope of salvation come too late. Thailand has had a Golden Goose with digital nomads. There are small cottage industries that cater to them, particularly in Chiang Mai, but even with this new visa there still is no viable solution to truly attract them in mass which is needed now more than ever. Thai immigration just DOESN'T GET IT. Meanwhile other countries have digital nomad visas with multi-year - hassle free - options available. Why Nickel, dime and generally hassle these people when they bring talent and plenty of money which is spent in Thailand. Even taxing them isn't a good idea given how much money they would bring in if left to their own devices. Anyone seen a functioning Thai website lately? Why not invite tech talent into Thailand to stop such silliness? What do they gain by all of these half measures other than retaining their xenophobic comfort and pride? Well as they say TiT This is Thailand.
  7. The total cost was 1650 THB. There were no extra fees. My arm was very sore this morning and I did have some shivers for a few hours last night but already on the mend today. I simply don't know what my dosage was. It is a hospital under government regulation so I think there's a decent shot it was the correct dosage. They did make a note that I had 2 Pfizer vaccines previously. My understanding is you can get your 1st, 2nd or booster shot under this scheme.
  8. I have a Thailand Elite visa which grants a 1 year extension every time I come into the country.
  9. I'm hoping they open a travel bubble with Singapore by air. I prefer to spend a few days there and reenter than do the annual extension at immigration. I don't need this until November next year though so hopefully it's more smooth by then.
  10. It won't work because: 1) Low education and lack of ambition of the population 2) Lack of quality natural resources 3) Lack of quality engineering 4) Rampant air and water pollution. Most cities today are not if you build it they will come. It is we are already rich and getting richer. That said they certainly can improve it some.
  11. I'm not sure I may call to find out. However if it were one of the 1st 2 in the vaccine series I might be more concerned but since it was the booster I think I should be fine either way. I did just notice the vaccine certificate has a QR code and when I scan the code my wife and I are registered as having the booster by the MOPH department of the Thai government which might be useful.
  12. When I checked the Bumrungrad website last week it said that they were taking appointments now but I may have to wait as long as 6 months. I called Bangkok hospital ( again thanks to the heads up from Richard Barrow) and was told they had Moderna appointments available immediately. I scheduled my appointment last Friday and went today. I have no idea the reason for the big difference, just glad to have this done.
  13. Also free and MUCH more simple to get vaccinated in the USA but for Thailand I thought this was reasonably easy and fairly priced.
  14. Not sure if this is common knowledge but my wife and I got Moderna booster shots at Bangkok Hospital today. This is 6 months after our 2nd Pfizer vaccine was administered in the USA. The process involved purchasing coupons on the official Bangkok Hospital subsite on Shoppee. Cost was 1650 THB per person. I found this a bit odd but that is how it works. After purchasing the coupons I was sent an SMS to my Thai phone number that allowed me to download the coupons. I then registered on Bangkok Hospital's website where I was asked for various information including my coupon number. They had many time slots available so I picked the one which was to the day 6 months after I had my 2nd Pfizer vaccine. There were many signs and people to help you find the vaccine location in building R. They scanned our coupons, printed out our appointments and we were taken to a large room. They checked my passport and CDC Covid vaccine card. At first they were hesitant to give me the vaccine because in the USA dates are written mm/dd/yyyy instead of dd/mm/yyyy like they do in Thailand. The person thought my last vaccine was in August but after I explained the difference they gave me the shot. They gave me an official looking document (upon request) that said I'd had the 3rd vaccine. I think this can be registered on Mor Phrom but I'm hoping I don't need to take any additional steps so I haven't done that yet. Now at home waiting to see if I have any minor side effects. The 2nd Pfizer jab made me ill for about a day but it was a minor problem. I was planning to go to either Bumrungrad or Bang Sue to try to get my booster but I learned about this option from Richard Barrow's twitter feed. Process was smooth and for me well worth the cost.
  15. I bought a one way ticket from JFK to BKK AND a cheap outbound ticket to Singapore dated 30 days from my arrival just in case. I was not asked for it at any point in my journey. If I were to do it again I would buy a cheap ticket again since I have been asked in the past at my point of origin or along transit points for proof of onward travel even though officially it isn't required with the Elite visa. I would not take my experience as a template for success since custom officials' scrutiny can vary.
  16. I have an Elite visa. Entering the country does presently require 50k Covid insurance but I have not heard reports of Insurance requirements for Elite extension yet. I bought 30 days of Covid insurance to enter on the Thailand Pass and received a 1 year stamp from immigration upon entry. Other than the website where I uploaded it to obtain my Thailand Pass QR code no one has checked my insurance since.
  17. I have already had 2 shots of Pfizer. As of December 8th it'll be 6 months ago. From what I've gathered Bumrungrad is probably my best option.
  18. Thanks that's exactly what I was looking for.
  19. Does anyone know the cost of getting a Moderna booster shot at Bumrungrad in Bangkok?
  20. I realize this has been discussed, but what is the latest information on Farang's getting Moderna, Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccines in Thailand? Where? I have had 2 Pfizer jabs in the USA 6 months ago and would like to get a booster in Thailand now. I am in Bangkok.
  21. My wife and I were interrogated and nearly refused entry a few times in the past. Are we working in Thailand? Why are we staying so long? Where is my money coming from, show me the proof. We got Thailand Elite visas and this never happened again. However during this initial Thailand Pass phase I think they will be more relaxed til tourist numbers rise and you are unlikely to be interrogated.
  22. True it'd be confirmed by the PCR test (likely at my own expense) but if then positive - straight to the hospital. Showing our vaccine cards should be enough. Testing constantly for routine activities is simply no way to welcome tourists and balance responsibilities. I won't repeat such activities til the testing is gone so Thailand will lose more than they save by doing this.
  23. On a somewhat related note my wife and I went to get Thai massages at a spa yesterday and to my surprise were both required to get Covid saliva antigen tests at the spa before starting. I nearly walked out, but since it was so close to our other recent test I rolled the dice expecting negative which is what we got. I know it is not the fault of the spa but I found this offensive and ridiculous. If positive or false positive my massage would turn into a 2 week hospital stay. Just not worth it. Is this how Thailand welcomes back tourists?
  24. Were you alerted by the app to do it and what day did you do it? If I don't receive any notice from the app I think I'll do the same as you, and send to the hotel on day 7
