  1. You can play golf year round in Pattaya. I have been rained out three times in 25 years so that isn't too bad. Each time it was a virtual flood. Usually you sit at a drink stand and drink Heineken until the storm passes over, then begin play again. I normally play early in the day and there is less chance of rain then, as the afternoons can sometimes get a little damp.

For your information, Pattaya has some 20 golf courses within easy reach of the city. There are courses designed by such luminaries as..Nicklaus, Faldo, Norman, Peter Thomson, Pete Dye, David Graham, Gary Player and Robert Trent Jones.

Go, my son, you will enjoy your golf.

  2. I have also heard he is an owner. I was at the Winchester the day the police raid went off. Happened right after his Sunday afternoon show. I was sitting at the owner's bar with a friend and saw all these Thai guys coming in and thought it might be a band. Then I saw Channel 7,5,3,Sophon, etc cameramen following right behind. Saw myself on the news that night.

Sure ruined the afternoon's entertainment. :o

  3. Yeah, Yohan, 57 posts in three days of membership does seem like Troll is seeing quite a bit of action.

But since Troll has mentioned that I,,, "asked phellow men and pheminists to phulphill my phantasies"...Let it be known that I did not ask any men to phill the vacancy. Pheminists are ok if they phollow my ground rules.

There's lots of Thai ladies willing to take the position so I will probably pursue that avenue.

But to jerk this back on track, perhaps MsNina will be lucky in finding an apartment in the Lumpini Park area. Ooops, she might catch a glimpse of a lady of the evening in the evening at the Park. Not a good location.

I once lived on Convent Road right next to the school. Ooops, not a good area either since I often saw ladies of the evening going to and from work.

Pathum Thani might be pretty safe except for that karaoke with the girls sitting outside.

    Just a few suggestions.

  4. Troll:

But if I can't say...I'm a MALE CHAUVINIST PIG on every post, then how am I going to get my agenda across? That seems to be what MsNina is saying at least.

You must be a feminist also but you don't add it to every post you make. You are much more subtle in your postings. You seem to prefer the silk glove approach rather than the sledge hammer approach preferred by our young friend from Australia.

Since I am a MALE CHAUVINIST PIG, however, neither system works for me. I still think women should be seen and not heard, much as children, and should be sure my beer is nice and cold at all times. I don't want any conversation during Sportscenter but when I do want to talk, I prefer my lady to sit quietly, agree with everything I say and laugh heartily at my jokes. I am not a sex maniac but when the urge strikes me, I expect my lady to gleefully stop what she is doing and happily enjoy my wishes.

The job is open if either one of you would like to apply. :o

I'M A MALE CHAUVINIST PIG AND PROUD OF IT.

  5. Jeepz:

Good point about the neighborhood you live in. Quiet versus not so quiet.

What I am interested in learning is why MsNina posts the information as she does. Stroll made a valiant effort to explain to me what MsNina was thinking, although, for the life of me I cannot understand how she knew. :o

My point may be best illustrated by making this hypothetical statement...."I am interested in purchasing a home off of Siam Country Club Road in Pattaya. I am a Republican party member. Will I be bothered by Democrats or Independents? Is this a good area for me to live in?"

Looks a little silly when put like that doesn't it! :D

  6. Stroll:

Thank you for your attempt to tell me why MsNina just keeps insisting on telling the world she is a feminist. Those people that waste time reading her posts are completely aware of her political leanings. I am one of those that keep reading them, much as the moth drawn to the flame. I just don't understand the relevance of repeating it every time she posts, or for that matter even why she felt it necessary to offer up the information the first time. She will likely find her apartment with help from her friends at work and they, conceivably, already know where she stands on the male animal. Why, then, offer it on this forum?

As for my hating women. Au contraire. I love women and even number some of them as my friend. I am a single parent trying to raise my daughter into a young lady and rely on my lady friends to assist when a subject arises that I have no personal knowledge of. Women are necessary and nice to have around. :o

  7. MsNina:

Why would you think it important that people know about your feminist attitude when recommending a good place to live?

This would be akin to my saying I like pink Toyotas so where do you think I should live.

I guess my question is...what is the relevance?

  8. I live in Pattaya and have since 1993. I moved from BKK to escape the smog, traffic, heat and wanted the ability to reach a golf course in under two hours. I own a home off of Siam Country Club Road and wouldn't live anywhere else.

All you do-gooders out there can tell your friends what you want. As for me, I would rather tell somebody I lived in Pattaya than that I lived in San Francisco.

  9. I imported a cat in 1998 from Saudi Arabia. She had the shots and shot records.

Nobody stopped us and nothing was asked for. Things could easily have changed since then.

Why not ask your travel agent or call the Thai Embassy in your home country?

  10. Snark:

What you should have done was leave the original post as it was instead of changing it entirely. I am talking about the post that started this thread.

This has nothing to do with the overall issue but has everything to do with integrity. You edited the first post long after our discussion began, softening your original stance. Now you are debating that revised stance and not the original position.

I notice you didn't edit the original post until we were well into page two of this thread. Perhaps you thought nobody would be aware of the change?

This subject is no longer worth debate.

  11. Snark:

You disappoint me. I challenge you on your original post and what do you do?

Rather than admit the possible error of your ways, you edit it and change it at a later point in time.

You have an agenda...I have an agenda. Obviously we are miles apart, but what you have done is the easy way out.

You have no credibility in my eyes.

  12. Snark says......."The basic premise of aid given should be for the benefit and betterment of people without any religious, cultural, racial or political strings attached."......

In a perfect world, perhaps you have a point. In the real world, this is naive to the extreme. Attached strings are a basic requirement for anybody providing aid, much less governments.

For instance, if I provide you funds to continue your college education, it could be a requirement that these funds actually be spent on tuition or books and not on beer for the sorority/fraternity.

If a government provides funds for birth control, it could just as easily be a condition that none of these funds be diverted to purchase weapons of war.

Idealism is great....if it only worked. :o

PS: I gotta leave for about an hour. Please don't think I have forgotten you in the interim. :D

  13. Snark:

I am happy to get the reference to HRW (a Google on it shows 3,890,000 references), which I will not read. Perhaps when I have a little more time?

In the interim, please provide an official US government policy that supports your position shown on page one of this thread.

I will be more than happy to admit the error of my ways and have done so numerous times in my long and boisterous career. Just let me have it.

Edit: Wow. You are editing your posts before I can even respond to the initial input. You are a rapid typist.

  14. Snark:

At least, if nothing else, we have given Google a boost in their business today.

Thanks for the references and I did read them. I also noticed virtually all of your references and mine seem to have an agenda, one way or the other. I then decided to go here for information:

    http://search.info.usaid.gov/query.html?qp.../www.usaid.gov/

This is the web site for the US Agency for International Development (USAID). While I certainly did not read every page of this site, I did find there are 122 references to the use of condoms and their promotion of the use of condoms.

I still don't think your information is correct but who really cares? :o

    Richard Hall:

I am not one of the reborn types nor have I ever been accused of being one. I am a long time resident of Thailand and inveterate chaser of all things fun. Just thought you might like to know, but who really cares :D

Edit: By the way, I am a former smoker and, for the record, I really don't care whether you smoke or not. :D

  15. I really do not like to jump in the water with all you GWB/America haters but, here I am.

Snark, I believe your information is incorrect. What GWB has done is invoke what is called the "Mexico City Rule", which "withholds USAID funds from organizations that perform, refer, counsels on or advocates abortions." It has absolutely nothing to do with condoms.

The fiscal year 2004 Omnibus Appropriations Bill passed by congress and signed into law by the president approves 2.4 billion for HIV/AIDS programs. The bill does provide "grantees must offer complete and medically accurate information on condoms if they offer any advice on condoms at all."

I got my information from the following web site and have quoted parts of it above:

    http://www.populationaction.org/news/press...234_omnibus.htm

I await your source reference if I am wrong.
