Luxembourg family demands justice after fatal road accident
likerdup1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
Does that make them any less dead? What kind of comment is this? AGAIN. If you don't want to die in a motorbike accident DON'T DRIVE ONE! .. So what if the car driver is to blame? What do you propose to improve driving safety in Thailand? Stop people from driving? The fact remains, very little will change. Driving any motor vehicle in Thailand is very dangerous. Car, Van, Motorbike. Road safety is terrible here. And driving skill is even worse. -
A brief explanation of how the 12 step program of AA works.

Absolutely not a religious program but spiritual and ones own concept of a Higher Power. Very progressive for some old Americans back in 1939 -
By that logic how would you rate cocaine, heroin, ketamine, GHB, Methamphetamine? ... oh just the same as alcohol? Grade school logic

Fine with me. I'd rather not smell pot smoke on every other street I walk on. For medical use, OK. for recreational use no. Not good for society as a whole. I find it a mind numbing pointless and blunt drug. It clearly alters consciousness to the long term detriment of the user and has no long term benefits for those who have no legitimate medical justification for it's use. I used it for several years and my "high" digressed into paranoia. Just a trash blunt object drug. Might as well hit your head with a hammer

A brief explanation of how the 12 step program of AA works.
likerdup1 replied to likerdup1's topic in I Drink Too Much Forum
Good approach. Simple and effective. whatever a higher may be it surely can't be you!! ABC's say. b) probably no human power could have relieved our alcoholism. I'm human, you are human Steps 2 and 3 are as not as hard as some people make them out to be, usually people who look at the step summaries on the wall and don't study the instructions in the Big Book. I usually tell my sponsees who consider themselves atheists or agnostics to ask themselves this question. "Do you think that all the people in AA who have done the steps and have come to know a Higher Power of their own understanding that has kept them sober and given them recovery are lying?" Are they all having some mass hallucination or delusion? Most reasonable people who are agnostic or atheist will understand that perhaps their ideas about God or spirituality may be wrong and become even willing to believe they can get help just like the many others in the fellowship. Once they become even willing they have done Step 2. Those who continue to balk at this step I'll tell I can't help them. It's a necessary step in order to prepare to embark on seeking help from a Higher Power. c) God could and would if he were sought Step 2 - are you even willing to believe a Higher Power can help you? - do you think you can get recovery like others in AA who have done the steps and now feel a Higher Power helping them? Why would your case be any different? Step 3 - make a decision to seek a Higher Power (what ever your understanding or lack of understanding is) by doing the rest of the steps.. To demonstrate you have made the decision take the action of now doing step 4 and the rest up to step 9. During step 9 start doing step 10 and 11. Easy when one studies the program from the literature. Unfortunately one of the best kept secrets in the FELLOWSHIP is that the program is in less than 150 pages. The Big Book and Twelve and Twelve essays is where the program of AA is. The program is the 12 steps. nothing more, nothing less. One does not do their "own program" (this comes from other A fellowships) In AA we do one program. The 12steps of AA. -
Thank you Brit Tim, this was my experience also. First time at CW Division 1 I was asked to return for the "result" which is a bit misleading... lost in translation. But as you had mentioned on my post that if the docs are accepted it's 99% going to be approved and a stamp given. I was told at the C1 desk to put my phone number on the application in the event they did want to contact me for more information etc.

What I would NEVER DO is keep cryptocurrency on an exchange PERIOD! Part of the problem is that many people who use crypto exchanges don't understand crypto currency technology. If you are keeping the bulk of your crypto currency on ANY CEX (centralized exchange) I don't care if it's Coinbase or whatever the hell you think a strong CEX is. Binance NO! you are inviting trouble!! If you don't understand what "keeping your own keys" is than I highly suggest you go to a Bitcoin 101 website (there are plenty of them) and study fundamental cryptocurrency technology. Here is an example. One does not STORE crypto currency on their laptop. They can store the keys to their wallet addresses on their laptop (which is it's own kind of danger) But better yet keep the keys in a hard wallet encrypted USB key or write down the 12 word or 24 word seed phrase and put it in a very safe place. Crypto users. Use your own wallet. Metamask, Unisat whatever... keep the keys.. own your own keys. You don't own your keys if you keep your crypto on a CEX. None of them are 100% secure. Coinbase seems to be OK for now.... but look at FTX or Mt Gox Side note.. seems like this forum is a lot busier now that Bitcoin is at 35k :-)

Thank you, I had done it in Pattaya 3 times over the last 11 years or so but never CW and of course the requirements are ever evolving . Actually even though CW is crowded the process is a lot smoother and they appear to follow the rules. Where Jomtien Soi 5 is a bit different. Anyway, on the home stretch of getting 1 year. Unfortunately I will be going to CW in Mid December as that is about 30 days before expiration of the Non-O. Funny, They gave me 90 days from the application date and not the date I arrived for the stamp. I'm hoping the 12 months will be from the expiration date of my Non-O and not application date of the extension

If I new I would not be asking the question. Anyone with experience doing the 1st extension of stay (WITHOUT AN AGENT) please reply. Perhaps there is a previous post or check list available showing exactly what paper work Change Wattana Division 1 wants at desk L for the first extension of stay? That would be greatly appreciated. For all further replies to this thread, I humbly ask only those who have experience with doing their own retirement visa extension of stay or those well versed in the procedures at Chang Wattana please reply.

I will be returning to CW get my first extension of permission to stay now that I have the Non-O for purpose of retirement 90 day stamp issued. Question: I have not nailed down a long term residence in Bangkok yet. Still trying out some places on a month to month basis. Might even stay one or two months in a hotel while I get something I like. Will that be a probem at Chang Wattana Division 1 extension desk L? (I was told to go to desk L) I will be going to the L desk for my 1st 1 year retirement extension of permission to stay. Will they accept a hotel or service apartmentTM-30 along with invoice and receipts or a serviced apartment invoice/receipts?

Same experience for me. I returned and got the Non-O stamp with no problem. Once papers are accepted pretty much guaranteed the "result" will be a stamp in your passport. A side note. This "credit advice" document IS NOT NECESSARY IF YOU SHOW YOUR MONEY IN A FOREIGN CURRENCY ACCOUNT! FYI, to moderators. My experience is that Bangkok Bank cannot issue a "credit advice" document for a FCA. The money being in foreign currency and transfers being shown on the account along with the name confirmation official letter is considered acceptable. Anyone using a foreign currency account to show the 800k equivalent will not need the "credit advice" doc nor can you be issued one. (at least by BKK bank) Just the letters of account name confirmation and last several months transactions is sufficient.

Bangkok, the new "Vegas" of SE Asia. I never cared for Las Vegas much. I lived there for a short time. The place had a bad vibe. Seemed like half of the residents there are always on the hustle. Lots of scams and way less than ethical stuff going on. Trying to buy a used car there was a joke. Talk about scams.

Honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness

Maybe you should write a blog post describing how to "speak the language of the heart". You seem to think you know better and how to. All I've been doing here is writing from my heart. You seem to have an opinion otherwise. You seem to think you know better so I challenge you to write a blog post describing exactly how to speak the language of the heart. -
I hope you enjoy it. I used to love to drink but at one point about 35 years ago I lost control of my drinking and became an alcoholic. I needed help and I am forever grateful AA was there to provide the help.

That is the underlying principle of AA's solution for members to get recovery from alcoholism. Forgive me but let me point out you didn't answer my question. Why would AA say anyone has to quit drinking? Are you a member? If so I would hope you know AA is NOT a temperance movement. AA is for people who want help.
