It appears unlikely that it is happening this year. Zero advertising and the shopkeepers know nothing about it.

The ongoing makeover of the Night Bazaar is due to "Beer Chang", as he is known, basically taking over the entire area.
Funny that the authorities are trying to attach their name to it though, and giving the impression that they are in control of the development of the area when they are not.
And for what its worth, it is still day in day out the number one tourist attaction in Chiang Mai in terms of numbers, so the Gov missed the mark there as well.
The new boss brings money but his vision, from what i can tell, is for a modern shopping strip, definitely not what existed in the past and still partially exists to this day.
I wonder why he thinks killing off what was unique about the place, and turning it into a carbon copy of thousands if not millions of streets around the world, will bring an influx of tourists and their associated dollars?
If it continues the way it is the place will be completerly unrecongizeable from its roots in say 10 or 20 years.

Excellent and welcomed contributions by all. Thanks.

Hello. We play every Saturday from 5pm. Just come to the fields/courts as listed above, and it is the one on the end. Very easy to find. Friendly bunch. Some regulars, some semi-regulars. All welcome, just come and say hello and ask to join in.

Being the CM forum i think i can see where this is heading... but just thought i'd add my two cents.
I've travelled a lot through Thailand, not everywhere, but a fair bit.
I visit every place with an open mind and if it's better than CM i'd consider it a possibility.
So far the only place that has come close is Udon Thani, though at this stage CM still comes out on top.

For future visitors to this thread, Sportsworld in KSK does indeed have a weights section.
I can't comment on price as i didn't look, but if you're shopping around it's another one to add to the list.

1. It's a personal preference thing. Both places will issue you a double visa. Savannakhet would take less time as its a same day process, and there will be less people applying.
2. Yes. Mae Sai, Myanmar. 500 baht or 10 US dollars + bus fare there and back.
3. Same as 1.
4. From here you will have to find your own way there. There are peolpe outside the consulate in Vientianne who will handle the dirty work if you do not wish to wait in line etc.
The rules have never changed regarding the issuing of double entry visa's. Ongoing unhelpful conjecture and speculation confuses people.

Lost mine of Thaphae a while back. Returned to me the same day, all intact.
Should of mentioned that i got mine back through the police. If anyone loses their wallet they should let the police know.

Hi Trevor
This sounds like something i'd be interested in, and might be able to drag along one or two others occasionally.
I'll send you a PM and please let me know how you get on.
With thanks

Finding the pants is easy. The tie-dyed and stone washed style not so much.

Yep upstairs (Level 2?) inside the big Warorot building you will find a whole bunch of seamstresses, sitting down at their machines, day after day. Good prices and good work.

Not sure where you get the 1,000B price from. Head back to the Night Bazaar and you can get a replica set for 400 no probs.
You must be a harder bargainer than me! Last time I went there they started at 1000 and the lowest I could get them down to was 800.....thats why I went eventually to the shop near Chang Puak where the price was 400 ! But thanks for the tip, will give the night bazaar one more go.....good excuse for a pint at the Red Lion !!
No worries at all. I know the Night Bazaar very well. If you get stuck with a crazy price PM me and i'll get ya sorted.

If you are really after a second hand guitar than keep an eye out on the second hand facebook pages etc. Occassionally one will pop up on them.

A few bars and discos around the place are returning to their old ways. One or two well known one's are now opened much later than, say a month or so ago.

I love an English brekky so decided to give the Gecko one a try as i live close by.
The basic @ 99 baht does represent value i guess, but the sausages were small and no drink came with. 30B for an OJ which took it to 129B.
For the same price - 129B - you can get a Canadian brekky (pretty close to an English) from the Wild Boar? on Loi Kroh, which is way better than the Gecko brekky imo.

And regarding your location, i will trot out the line that will invariably come, and is absolutely correct.
Try a few different areas before committing to a long term rental contract or buying a house.
If you have brought dogs with you than that probably rules out the Old City i.e. inner city.
Another idea would be to rent a car and do a drive around. You can probably cover the basics of outer Chiang Mai in two days.
But once again, best to try before you buy (or rent).

Just a quick note on the appliances, if you mean will they plug directly in to the wall/electrical socket with their existing chords, then the answer is no.
No need to worry though, as adapters for electrical appliances can be easily found to adopt to local sockets.

Hi TB
The acoustic guitar for a beginner is a good choice for two reasons:
1) It requires no amplification, so can be played anywhere, anytime.
2) If your son decides not to proceed with the guitar at some stage, it is no great financial loss.
There are a number of specialist musical instrument shops in town which i would recommend over something in a shopping centre.
There's one on Moon Muang Road, one on Chang Klan Road, and one on Charoen Prathet Road, to name 3.
I would think for a beginner, with an unknown level of future interest, that something in the 3-6,000 baht range would be the go.

Very interesting, as usual, with several sub sections that could be expanded upon, at your own leisure of course :)

If apply for tourist visa extension, need to be there at 6:00 am as well?
Definitely not. Save yourself the time and associated pain and go there in the afternoon.

Surely a double or triple entry tourist visa is the answer here? We can all attest that OP will have a more informed opinion of Thailand after another 6 to 9 months. What's the rush on making any type of commitment if he doesn't need to?

when will Zoe in Yellow get a good dj?

It's been a while but the second room at Fabric use to have some good tunes going on. Basically deserted most of the time as most Thai's have know idea/no interest in quality dance music.
