Actually all normal European chainsaw brands are available in Chinatown Bangkok.   I was quoted 8,000 baht for a Stihl with a 12 inch bar 2 weeks ago.   I was also led to understand that "larger bars and longer chains" are also for sale in "other" locations!

A 12in bar is perfect for trimming our fruit trees and no I do not want to become an illegal lumberjack.   I also do not want any of my staff to do any moonlighting and the saw will go back to Bangkok with me after the weekend.

What exact part of Chinatown sells them...  i want to buy a proper one, not Chinese rubbish...

When you get food poisoning ,you get it within an hour or so , not days later when you get home ,so their story is a load of rubbish.

If you had have read the story published in Oz, they were sick that night.  Also they had 2 pad thài's...

Their 2 kids apparently didn't eat it.??? No mention of them being sick...

The truth will be revealed shortly...  lol  55555

It would depend on where you live in Thailand.

    From BKK to HCMC, Vietnam

7am Air Asia from DMK to HCMC. Take taxi to from the airport (use Vinasun or Mai Linh) to the consulate and put the application in.

Pick up passport next day in the afternoon from the consulate and fly back Air Asia to DMK around 9pm.

A hand written letter from wife requesting the visa is required otherwise it's the same as Savanakhet.

There are recent reports from thai visa members confirming the rules are unchanged there.

Correct... I got a Non O back in July in HCM with what you stated above...

So it is all about the money? TIT

    Unfortunately yes...

Years ago, the son  of an ex - employee was killed by a 10 wheel truck. I'd never meet the kid, but I was asked by his parents to write a letter saying that  I was going to take the kid under my care, blah, blah,  blah...  This letter was presented in court & eventually the family got 5 million in compensation from the trucking company. Just another insurance payout, but having been here in Asia for 25 years; it's all about the money.....  Most local people here don't have adequate life / accident insurance here & this is just one way of compensating for it...

Other than paying for it, there is no sure-fire way of getting upgraded. However, you can help yourself a lot, as follows:

    - be even a local celeb but don't do the "don't you know who I am" thing

    - be very polite and helpful to the checkin clerk and to all staff - they remember nice people too and don't like guys pushing for dates etc and remember them too!

    - wear nice quality clothing and look clean and presentable (not drunk or out of it)

    - have a frequent flyer card for that airline

    - do some research on flights that are likely to have full economy class but low take-up on business class

    - date or marry a flight crew member (usually only works with a single airline)

Sometimes airlines sell upgrades quite cheaply, at less than double the cost of the economy ticket. Sometimes worth looking into especially at the last minute.

MH was offering upgrades a few years ago where you bidded for the seat. Did the minimum bid which was AUS $200 from KL to Melb in Business one way. They accepted that offer. Business was only half full.  Superb...

VN is doing similar at the moment through an agent in London. Travelling from Bkk to Melb in a couple of months.. Will be interesting to see what happens with them...

My point is why do you have to through Immigration when leaving Thailand, your going gone, maybe never to come back again.

I have been going through BKK Aiport 4 times a year for years now and never seen any one being pulled for overstaying, why don't they just do random checks.

most overstayers go to the local Immigration to sort an overstay out.

I know of no other country where you go through an Immigration check point on exiting the country,.

if they weighed up the cost of staffing Immigration at BKK Airport against the fines they receive from overstayers I am sure there would be a big loss.

but hey this is Thailand I forgot.

You obviously haven't travelled too many countries nearby. They all stamp you in & out. Even when I go to Oz, my passport is scanned coming in & also when leaving, but no stamps...

I had a closer look today at Friendship and EVERY wine and they have a lot in there, either boxed or bottled, had blue tax stamps. Definitely also plenty of wines that have fruit wine marked on the box.

Orange and green tax stamps were on the bottles of spirit.\

So clearly the writer of the article Craig linked to is another armchair expert. There are a lot of them on the internet.

Well Leo.  The blue / orange tax sticker tax issue was published / discussed in the Big Chilli Magazine years ago...

Grape juice is juice, not wine.

If they add grape juice to wine, the result is 100% made from grapes.... but it is not wine, it is fruit wine.

Personally I do not care, as long as the result tastes good enough, and is not too expensive.

Legally speaking it is however unacceptable to call it wine.

That's why it is labelled as Fruit Wine. Sometimes it's in large print and on others it's very small fonts.  Importers being sneaky.....

So fruit wine has a orange sticker and unaltered wine a blue sticker.

Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong.

The below product goes for 215 Bt/2.25 liter at frienship Pattaya and has clearly written on the box " based on wine". It's 10% alcohol and tastes fine.

    Notice the blue sticker?

It's the ones down past the Hilton, the restaurants and guesthouses alongside and including Chao Lay seafood, if you know where that it is.

Going there in early April, so will be interesting to see which other ones have gone by then...

Maybe after the high season & Songkran, the authorities will really crack down...

i would be interested to know if someone finds a e-visa website as well, as i am planning a vietnam trip in april. I am canadian and am pretty sure i will need a visa. gf is thai, so she should be good to go.. also if someone can find or has a link to the post that a thaivisa member put out about a month ago on his trip to vietnam, that would be greatly apprecieted. it was a huge multi page post, but very well written

    Go to  www.vietnamvisa.govt.vn

    Easy as and cheap

Been using them the last few years.  If you are flying in ok, as you get the visa put in your passport on arrival. Your gf gets 30 days as this are visa exempt
