  1. Had dengue last year. Its not the nicest thing to get! Hopefully I never get it again. The authorities were called and within 3 hours they were at my doorstep with 3 blowers. They fumed the whole street and neighbors gardens. Was also given chemicals to add to water that does not contain fish (stagnant water)

This is on Sathon Road. Thinking that it would never happen in that area had me thinking again.

  2. I run a Bicycle Tour company in Bangkok and never had any problems. Thai people are very cautious when it comes to cyclists. The stuff you see riding back roads and small alleys is amazing. Bangkok has definitely a market for it. However what I don't get is that the previous project started up a few years ago failed. And those bike were/are free of charge!! Free bikes are stationed around the Grand Palace/ Kaosarn/ Thamasat Uni/ Thonburi. Now the expect money for it.. Good luck. Hope it works out well

  3. No problem with K-bank, used them for years with Paypal.

Be aware that if opening new Paypal account from Thai address you will be working with Paypal Singapore NOT the US or UK.

    yes works perfect with K-bank!

When we had the problems with Paypal, it sounded more like Malaysia and the guys name was Mohamed......but might be Sing.

Customer service between extreme bad and terrible bad as it is normal for Paypal.

And apply also for the PayPal ATM Card. They will ship you one and ca withdraw from ATM direct. No need for Thai Bank Account

  4. Yesterday was at Pratunam and had 3 straight taxis refuse to take us to out condo

Next time I am going to take a camera to get the taxi ID and license plate

    Oh dear.

Hope you didn't have to walk there, did you ??

I was refused by 2 taxi's and 1 Tuk Tuk standing in the rain with my daughter after picking her up from school. And the policeman directing traffic did not do a dime about it!

  5. Dtac is already "Grey" due its Foreign Owners as in the headline..... I wonder if there is more to this story??

Is the competition trying to hurt them by sending in bad subcontractors?

In Thailand all is possible.. Reminds me of last weeks headlines when the Govt decided to hike taxes just as Heineken was in a take over bid.

Oh and todays Headlines in the Nation! Thailand ranking 39 worldwide but could have ranked much higher if ... bla bla... Fill the rest in yourself.

  6. I used to work on radio towers in my youth, 1500 footers, but we always used to say you are just as dead from 100 ft as from 1000 so it doesn't really matter that it was the tallest building around. The lack of precautions during high work was one the first things that struck me when I first came here. It just seems to be a cultural thing, safety is not a high priority throughout the whole society. " up to them".

The cultural thing is called: Mai pen rai.

It was a holiday today. They just did not think to much as their supervisors might have not been there to tell them to wear safety gear. For them it was just another day out with even more fun while nobody was around due to the holiday. They made their choices and at the end it didn't work out. R.I.P. guys!

  7. If you haven't witnessed it with your own eyes.. you don't know. Its a mass of water moving towards your guys. Slowly creeping up, this village has never in its history been flooded. Now we are flooded, it is still manageable. (im less then 20 km from BKK). If Bangkok does not open its gates completely water will build up in the end just opening them then wont suffice and it will be a torrent going in.

I am saying take a few days of problems like we did here and get it over with. If the high tide in the end of the month arrives you got a big problem.

Your dutch expertise might have prevented your home from being flooded! Where were you when the flood came? Nana Plaza?

  8. We are operating a Bicycle Tour Company and got the first batch from Pro Bike in Bangkok. Got decent service and bikes. All Trek. When time came that we needed the second batch they weren't that helpful as we expected them to be plus a waiting time of 6-10 weeks. We have since changed to the Merida brand.

As for after service I give Pro Bike thumbs up! The mechanics come to us and service them here at the office and are very very good! Merida just hasnt got the people to do it.. But bikes are bikes so now Pro Bike is servicing both brands.

Yes Pro Bike has gone Hi-So and are very Busy. Its booming now in Bangkok!
