    Phrae  22 ug/m3   or   AQI 72   -   I think, this is great.

After all these smoggy, grey and really unhealthy days up North.

    But ...

Today is the first day we can see at least an outline of the mountains

left and right of the Yom valley. The PM2.5 concentration 20 km north

    of Phrae: only 16 ug/m3   -   AQI 59.   It's a holiday.

    Situation in Phrae seems a bit worse:  52 ug/m3   -   AQI 142

                     Much better now at 11:00   19  ug/m3   -   AQI 65

         Most of the North between 61 and 123 ug/m3   -   AQI 154 - 186,

         but should improve.

    Bangkok seems better:  21 - 49 ug/m3   -   AQI 70 - 134

    Very good!
Chiang Mai has forbidden burning from January 10 to April 30.
Phrae has announced a strict ban on burning from February 1 to April 30.

(late he comes, but he comes...)

Not so good - today Saturday Feb 8  2020:

Nan province  has banned burning from February 15 to April 15.
    image.png.f52f5ba5074c4f48c3c7cc78b866d360.png

Phayao  declared absolute no-burning areas from March 1 to April 30.

Mae Hong Son … strictly forbidding fires from March 15 to April 30.

Chiang Rai  is monitoring the trend of disaster situations to issue guidelines
    on no-burn zones later.

Why not at once? - Is it not bad enough? - No visible dead people?

  5. @ saengd

So if you have taken measurements with two devices, then this should be correct.
I think the place where you’re living might be healthier than other places in/around ChiangMai?

The results seem very often perplexing, but I think (hope) there is no fake?
Many factors are influencing any measurements, so your numbers (37?) that means AQI 105
is not too far away from an average AQI today (in CM) before noon of 130 – 140(?).
    [AQI 130 means 47 μg/m3]

http://www.aqmthai.com/public_report.php might be a tool to double check the situation.

Any ‘farangs’ who do not wear face masks should be kicked out of the country, that’s according to Thailand’s health minister, Anutin Charnvirakul.

The minister isn't talking about air pollution, he's chattering about the virus.

    What a ... .

Have to wait a bit, but I'd love to leave this beautiful country soon.

'I'm leaving now I'm leaving now Get out of my face Get out of my place

    But it's much too late.

Of nine northern provinces, eight have been declared as strict burn-free areas.

1 Chiang Mai has forbidden burning from January 10 to April 30.

2 Phrae has announced a strict ban on burning from February 1 to April 30.

3 Nan province has banned burning from February 15 to April 15.

    4. Phayao, Tak, Lamphun, and Lampang provinces have been declared absolute no-burning areas from March 1 to April 30.

5 Mae Hong Son is strictly forbidding fires from March 15 to April 30.

Chiang Rai is monitoring the trend of disaster situations to issue guidelines on no-burn zones later.

  8. Feb 7

    Phrae AQI 161 - that means 75 μg/m3 .

    The North 'Unhealthy'.

Bangkok and other places in Thailand 'Unhealthy' respectively

    'Unhealthy for sensitive groups'.

Sorry, Surat Thani 'moderate' (AQI 85) and Phuket AQI 55.

' Small particulate pollution has health impacts even at very low concentrations – indeed no threshold has been identified below which no damage to health is observed. Therefore, the WHO 2005 guideline limits aimed to achieve the lowest concentrations of PM possible. '

I would be happy (and satisfied) with 10 μg/m3 24-hour mean. But this is an illusion.

By the way, I'm not worried about myself. - I think of the little children, the elderly and the frail and all those people who cannot or can never afford to buy an air purifier.

Ignorance and arrogance might be a minor problem. I don't know.

You (and the young lady) are absolutely correct.

    — agricultural burning is the root cause of PM 2.5 pollution in Thailand.

But one must add, depending on time of the year, place, winds etc.

If you would be so friendly to have a look at the fire-mapper screenshots,

7 days, 3 days, the last 24 hrs. - The whole Indochina seems to be burning.

And, as we all know, the bigger culprits are Cambodia and Myanmar.

What can we, the Thaivisa readers do?

What should the Thai Government do?

    The whole 'thing' isn't funny:

  13. Today back to the OP.

Pravda said:  ' When is it going to be enough for you guys? '

For me the handling of the air pollution problem in Thailand since years

is far beyond any intelligent behavior.

If there were no familary reasons to stay, I would leave tomorrow.

So, if you would like to have some info about the dust situation

up North, starting Jan 15, 2020, here is a/my link:

Excuse me, some of you posters on the BKK-forum.

It's not the time to discuss the existing problem, it is time to act,

    not to babble.
