Actually the act of prostitution is not illegal if the stipulations outlined in the various laws regulating it are abided by. One of the problems in Pattaya is the blatant disregard of many of these "rules".

I'll take your word for it.  Ironic that it's illegal to talk about it because....it's illegal?

  2. United should go the rest of the way and implement a physical fitness test for employees and their family members flying on passes or sub-load discount tickets.

    1) Sprint 300 meters across duty free in less than 15 seconds.

    2) 50 push ups.

    • None of that knee on the ground for girls nonsense either.  That's sexist!

    3) 50 sit ups.

This additional requirement would make these free loaders better appreciate the important role they fulfill as ambassadors of United Airlines, and become excellent role models for other pax.

Just curious to know why it is being filmed and the camera is shakingoing a touch. If the camera is cctv footage how come it's moving like that. Appears to be footage made by a person. No time or date stamp on footage either and crystal clear trained on them so what's going on here?

Sounds like the victim is in the mall security office watching the recording on the CCTV system monitor with security staff.  Victims often use their cell phone cameras to record the video on screen for their own records, police report, evidence, etc.

How Can Uber TELL The Government they WON'T Obey a Direct Order ????

I know this isn't the same thing but it is an interesting potential when a determined group of people stand up and say "No" to a government not accustomed to that.  Disobeying Direct Orders is an interesting choice of words.  Mutiny.  Insurrection.  A catalyst for Revolution?

I suspect the thought of a few million peasants deciding they've had enough, keeps our beloved  PM awake some nights.

  5. It's illegal/contrary to the law.  So is prostitution.  Speeding. Not wearing a helmet.  Buying a beer at 3pm.

House we live in was mostly built while we lived abroad.  Me and the Mrs. spent a month long holiday here busting hump to finish the outside/grounds.  I worked right alongside her, 2 of her brothers, her Dad (RIP) and a handful of day-laborers who had to blink a few times at seeing a white boy/farang working like that.  Dug and shaped the hole for the fish pond myself.  Worked alongside them leveling dirt, laying sod, and the daunting task of turning huge piles of sand and many pallets of brick pavers into a driveway, by hand, one by one.....  Nobody concerned about labor laws.

Hard work but it was good, and having pitched in our own blood and sweat, enjoyed a greater sense of satisfaction when it was done and dusted.  Good luck on your project, OP.

The 400k/800k Baht documentation is no different than the formal documentation of having in excess of $25-30k USD in income (I forgot the exact figure) I had to provide, along with the signed "affidavit of support" I was required to sign twenty years ago when I "petitioned" the US for permission for my Thai wife to live (join me) in the USA.

Good point.  Although in the US, it's the other way around - US Citizen vouching support for the immigrant.  Can you imagine if that was the policy here?  :shock1:

I occasionally roll my eyes at the bureaucracy but, end of the day, IMO, for me, it's not really that onerous.  As long as I don't screw up, my annual extension (marriage) takes a few hours effort over 2 days to prep and submit.  The on-line 90-Day Report, if it's working, is a bonus.

I do, however, empathize with those who live far from their assigned Immi Office.  They play solemn with Thai drivers for 200 kilometers, maybe screw something up and worse, get an I/O who's in the mood to knit pick......then they hit road again.  Imagine they're about ready to choke the s**t outta somebody after all that!

  7. Prostitution is already illegal, as are drugs, drunk driving, theft, robbery, etc.....

Simple really.  All the PM has to do is invoke Art 44  and issue an edict that all "these" types of venues are illegal at the stroke of midnight tomorrow.  The party that would take place between now and then would be epic, and at 23:45 tomorrow, crowds rivaling those at the Berlin Wall in 1989, would gather on Walking St. to witness history.

It's a concession for someone who marries a Thai.

The Baht 65,000 a month is not meant to allow you to live in luxury. It's meant to make sure you have the ability to be of benefit to the Thai economy.

Thailand isn't meant to be a refugee camp for farang who can't afford to live in their own countries.

65k is meant to ensure they won't become a liability, not necessarily a "benefit".  Agree, it also helps keep the riff raff and piss takers at bay.

the BIB should have wasted the idiot on the spot - saves any future drama from this idiot.

My wife gets really upset when I repeat my solution full-throatedly, for the driver problem here.

    1.  Choke them with my right hand whilst smacking them repeatedly with the left.

    2.  Castration, at least for the worst of them, so they can not produce the next generation.

Upon leaving the middle east, my fantasy was to procure a 1972 Dodge PowerRam pick up truck (full size, American one), strap used tyres all around it, and drive through the city, playing bumper cars with the locals, which includes the Jinglies (and Pakis).  Then park up at the airport, keys in the bin out front, board my flight with a smile and never return.

So your Mrs is an Isaan bird but not dumb...?

You still trying to bend this around into an insult?   I was actually agreeing with your sentiment above, TA, so your clumsy responses are confusing, but understandable if, for some reason, you're overly sensitive and ready to pounce because it's too close to home?  Who knows. :coffee1:
