  1. There was an article in the telegraph saying that the government are thinking of allowing people to return to the UK and use the NHS IF they have made national insurance (NI) contributions for at least 7 years. Not sure if I'm allowed to post a link so I wont. It would be easy to find the article if you wish to do so using google search. It said that the approval would be given in 2014. Has anyone heard anything?

Has anyone got any experience of going home and receiving medical treatment, big or small? What did you need to prove, show or do?

In the article it mentions an NHS card? I just told them my NI number and all was good. Is there now an NHS card?

Thanks in advance for answers thumbsup.gif

  2. The million ฿ question is....

Will it get me a 5 year teachers license when I've completed the course?

Answers may include YES or No then the reason why.

Speculation is ok as long as it is informed and not just a bash at the school etc.

If the answer is YES - Great, please show some documentation where this is accepted.

    If the answer is NO

The half a million ฿ question is...

What doors will it open for me?

    Thanks in advance wai.gif

  3. This is not a sweet deal at all. 25 hours or the possibility of it for 35k. No. If 18-20 max, it's okay.

20 would be the max I'd imagine it's just the school covering itself in case of problems.

I've decided to say I can't find anyone to work as all I get are the usual responses and opinions. As we all know opinions are like aholes, we all have one :-D

    Thanks folks :-)

  4. BUMP BUMP

I think if the near 200 people who have looked at this topic and thought that its too much work then I would like to assure them its not that bad.

I think the school is in a pickle and they will bend over backwards to get you here. I also believe they will let you dictate some of your clauses to get you here.

    Its worth a punt folks.

(I really wish I was getting some wonga for this but I'm not. I just didn't like the sad look on the English department heads face).

  5. I wrote no more than as that is the highest it could go. In all likelihood it will be around 20 periods.

No gate duties, no extra BS. Maybe an English camp but no other dramas.

I think (I will have to check) its a full contract and that includes holiday pay. If you stay for a second year there is talk of a pay rise, yours for the taking folks biggrin.png

Most contracts even at International schools in China state no more than 25 classes per week. It is to cover the school I'd imagine.

    Thanks

  6. Urgently required are 2 native English speakers for a government school 25km outside of Kampang Phet Town Centre. Central / North Thailand.

The school will want you to start immediately as the term began on Monday (agency has let them down).

You will be required to teach no more than 25, 50 minute classes per week.

You'll have 40 students in each class.

    School times are 07.45 - 16.00.

The school will pay for your visa and work permit, just the fees no travel expenses.

The salary is 35K per month. You'll need a BA in any field to be entitled to a provisional teacher's license from the TCT.

Kampang Phet is a quiet provincial town. It has Makro and Big C etc.

Accommodation is cheap in the school district starting from 3,000 baht for a decent apartment with wifi, tv, bed and hot shower.

Please message me if you're interested. I will then send you my email address so you can send me your CV, recent picture, a copy of your degree and a contact number.

I'm not making any money out of this. It's a favor to a school who really need teachers asap. You'll work directly for the school no agencies and no being messed around. The school staff and students are some of the most friendly I have come across, no BS to get you here I promise.

I am plain spoken and wont beat around the bush. What have you got to lose?

    Thank you,

    Darren

  8. The antibiotics used for acne are usually in the tetracycline family. Consult a good dermatologist.

Any good ones in Ubon Ratchathani?

Is a hospital, clinic or one of these beauty places best suited for the task?

    I'm clueless here :-D

    Thank you

  9. I agree with what your saying but it's not easy is it. So just go good water and fruit if you need to do?

I don't have milk anymore, I drink black coffee and no cereal. It's hard to choose a breakfast as I love a bit of toast with marmalade, it sets me up until lunch. I have tried oats but everyday, no thanks. I'm down in the dumps after 10 years of having a clear face.

I didn't change my diet last time only took the medication and got better.

    Hmmmm :-(

  10. I was going to start a new thread but while this is fresh I will have a go here.

When I was back in the UK I had bad acne. I ended up going to see a royal navy dermatologist (I was in the navy) around 2004. I got roll on rubbish and that didn't work.

    I was given

Antibiotics but for the life of me can't remember the name of them. They did the trick and my face has been clear for approx. 10 years. Now the acne has come back with a vengeance and my self esteem has hit rock bottom. It looks well that teenage boys have better skin than me.

I've stopped drinking this last month. I do eat bread, rice etc. I also drink plenty of water.

Can someone give me some advice about which meds to take. I tried roacutane after my face cleared up for a life-long spotty arse, I won't be shy in admitting it had me at odds with myself and I had some bad thoughts on that stuff.

I just wish someone knew the name of this antibiotic that i don't remember.

    Thanks for reading ;-)

  11. A heads up to potential applicants.

Be sure before you commit as the teachers license waiver is of high value and you only get 2.

If you're of the feeling that you won't stay or the school says no thanks, you are 1 TL waiver down and there's no getting it back.

I did it this time last year for 2 months and I'm kicking myself.

I'm not trying to put people off just to be aware of all the scenarios.

Good luck with filling the position.

  12. Of course there needs to be regulations to make sure that schools don't hire people who have no skills and no desire to gain skills. But skills aren't measured only by pieces of paper. Sorry to be self-centred, but again I bring up my own case:

I came to Thailand many years ago and found that I needed a teaching job to be able to stay. So I went and got one - easy, back then - no specific requirements needed. And I wasn't a very good teacher, either. But I have a philosophy of always doing something to the best of my ability, so I made a point of learning from my mistakes, my colleagues, and from some reading. Now I think I do a pretty good job - and most of my colleagues, bosses, students and their parents agree. But I don't have a degree, and so I have been told by the labour office that I won't be able to renew my work permit again.

This means that my 11 years of experience and my reputation count for nothing.

There needs to be some way of counting other forms of experience besides qualifications. I know several people like me that have left the country... and I'm to follow suit shortly.

Same boat as you but only 4 years.

    I'm pig sick :-(

  13. I have had 2 but my second was only used for approx. 2 months, would I be able to plead with tct with a expired WP from said job showing 2 months use? Absolute waste of a license :-(

Once you've checked your status with Kurusapa and you're on your second already, there's no more third.

Even when you're qualified before until the end of the world. Does that make sense?

I'd just sent an email to Kurusapa's website asking them for advice. Will post their answer, if there's one.-wai2.gif

    Unfortunately yes it makes sense.

    Pretty rough though hey?

    :-(

  14. Cheeky marriage visa and hope the Labour office don't check for a TL is the route of many a folk I would imagine. Is it even illegal if you have the WP?

What's legal, and what's illegal here is pretty difficult to define. But I'd assume that once you've got such an outstanding remark at the Kurusapa's website, you're doing something illegal.( Pretty difficult to NOT know the facts.)

If the labor department issues a work permit might be another thing. God, why is all so complicated and irritating???!!

I'd made a Thai culture course paid by an agency, which wasn't cheap at all.( For the agency!) Now it turned out that it's worth less than toilet paper.

Once we all know what's going to happen ,they'll change their laws again and again. Surprised? No.-wai2.gif

It just says on the site that I've had 2 waivers and the schools names.

One of them I got at the start of 2013 and I then moved to a different school in the March so only used it for a tiny bit of time and as far as I'm aware before these rules came into force. I know that doesn't matter as it's in the site and I'm fluffed. Is there a way I can show evidence and say I was doing a favour to a school that desperately needed a teacher and I wanted to fill a gap in my CV?

If I knew I wouldn't have taken the job.

    Hmmmm
