Hi Dashboot, yes your are right, sorry I got a little confused, I have used Calcium Hydroxide because I am on tank water and is rather acidic Ph 5.5 and when the Hydroponic Nutrient Concentrate is mixed it drops to 4.9, but the problem is Calcium Hydroxide is not totally soluble, but that may not worry you. So Iron Chelate Fe EDTA will be fine for you and make sure you know what the percentage Fe it has, and just do a bit of checking on the Potassium Hydroxide , from memory it can be dangerous if it is not mixed in the proper way.
Cheers

Hi Dasboot, you should be able to have them sent to you by "Wesco" in Bkk, now the type of Iron chelate will depend on the PH of the water , and because you are requesting Potassium Hydroxide suggest's you have a higher Ph than you want, so my advice is to use Iron EDDHA which is available at a broad Ph range and is stable from Ph 3 - Ph 11 it is more expensive than Iron EDTA.

Hi all, I thought I might post some pics of the results from the Hydroponic Single Truss Heirloom Tomatoes {using Coco Peat as the Medium and my own nutrient formula} i have been doing some test's on, bearing in mind that we are on a photoperiod of 12hrs at the moment and the results so far are quite pleasing, 2 were drip fed and the others were hand fed. There were 4 trusses per 15 litre bucket and had a height of about 1 meter.

The largest fuit on the Brandy Wine Truss will go well over 1kg and I will keep you posted on the total weight of the fruit that from each bucket. Also notice the severe "Leaf Roll" which some growers suggest that Leaf Roll can be caused by a Virus and sometimes suggest it is a psychological problem but mainly it is a direct plant defence against excessive "Photosynthetically Active Radiation".

Hi all, bunta71, you are correct, it is downy mildew in the early stages and it will progress rapidly and change in appearance those pale green angular lesions will eventually become necrotic, and if you have a look at the underside of the leaf you may see evidence of fungal spores, it is an extremly agressive disease and one which is very hard to control organically, i use a fungicide { Mancozeb Plus } mixed with Phosphoric Acid and it works a treat on my Hydroponic Telephone Peas.

That looks ok Rice, when it gets to those temperatures, you should lower your EC and feed it more often and the growth rate will pick up a fair bit, { i know you are aware of that} are you drip feeding? if so the more irrigation will lower your EC and less will raise your EC, and and have a "STOP TIME" in the late afternoon [ just on dark } to allow for "DRAW DOWN" overnight and have a "START TIME" in the morning to enable drainage before the sun reaches 80% of its intensity, drainage during the day of around 30% is normal

Very interesting, Rice, i think it is already being used " Terminator Technology" is as sick as Monsanto's other claim to fame, "Agent Orange" i dont grow F1 Hybrids only Heirlooms because they have tastse and i dont fill them up with water before harvest like the majority of Commercially grown Hydroponic tomatoe cultivation.

Hi, Khonwan, would it be easier to mix it with water and dispense it that way, a measured flow with a contstant speed across the ground, is that a possibility?

Hello All, for those that want to do a DIY GH, there are a couple
of places that sell GH films and bug netting, wiggle wire or snap
lock. In the BKK area is www.tctthainet.com Their store is a must
if you want to DIY. Best to go as they are poor on @ replies.
As for shops where to look for framework, easier to find in a larger
city.
The first 2 pictures are in my area, 200M from the 224/226 junction
and the last 2 are being set up for the OTOP fair downtown Korat.
More frames and some gutter work, you could make a 6 bay gutter
connected net/greenhouse is what I thought of the last pic.
rice555
Hey Rice, hope you are well, thanks for that information, looks like an easy way to go, those joints are they pre made and then welded to the pipe, it looks like thats the case, and can they be purchased separately? and what are the bay widths ?
cheers

Hi Sometime, well done, looks like a big improvement over your last effort, and thats a nice looking 'Mande" i have grown lots of that heirloom tomatoes and the "Mande" does very well in the winter here in Australia as well as summer, and if grown well they can be very large, it has a beautifull taste but as with many heirlooms sometimes it suffers from blossom end scars, misshappen fruit, and catfacing, but thats the challenge of growing tomatoes with taste.

Hey Grimley, how is the garden looking, have you tried to grow any vegetables in Hydropnics, you did ask me about "single truss cropping" for tomatoes, i did post some results, but i made a mistake, it was 8 weeks not 10 weeks to harvest.

I wont be in a position to start until my property is sold in the UK.
I was very interested in your results because it fits in with my ideas for "intensive" crops.
We will start with a total of 400 sq M of beds(8 x 25m x 2m).These will be fed by 4 fish tanks holding 64,000 liitres.
Have you grown Chillies? There is a place here in UK that are growing Thai Chillies intensively and getting between 2 to3 kilo's per plant
Keep in touch
Bob
Hi Bob, yes i have grown some Thai Birdseye chilli's, and it grows very very well in Hydroponics and dont need to much care , they are only a small chilli but they are prolific, and i dont eat them, so i grow them in a 12 inch pot and when they start to produce i give them to someone who likes chilli's, haha, but its fun, here in Australia chilli's are $30 / kg

The 78,000 baht hoop house from ACK is NOT climate controlled--it's nothing more than a frame for a shade house. A 3 x 6 x 2 meter shade house. With a 80cm door on one end. 3/4" 'galvanized' (not painted) steel tubing--grade not specified even after I asked. 3 mil poly. This design is a whopping 36 m3...
The local fab shop down the road quoted the following (for the exact same design and dimensions as ACK's):
1) 1.5" grade 'A' galvanized and painted steel frame
2) 100cm galvanized steel door and door frame--also painted
3) 18 meters 1" x 4" wood baseboards
4) 6 of the 12 legs cemented one meter into the ground
5) Delivery and installation plus a 2 year guarantee on materials and workmanship
Price: 12,500 baht. Poly not included.
More realistic and practical sizes (same shop, same materials and guarantee) of 6 x 12 x 3 meters (216 m3) were 30,500 baht. 10 x 20 x 3 meters (600 m3) 70,500 baht. You do the math...
PS The products from ACK, ChiaThai, NetaFim and a few other companies that target the hydro/organic commercial and (somewhat) hobby market are obscenely overpriced. Many of the exact same items can be found elsewhere--Super Products, Global House, larger hardware (wasadu) stores, local farmers' stores and 'Mom & Pop' shops--for 50% cheaper and more. Something to think about when you're spending a large chunk of $ on a hobby project. Or if you decide to go 'mersh'...
Hi Tiger2, can you tell me if you ended up getting the local fab shop to build the above mentioned greenhouse?

Every Province in Thailand has at least one, if not more than one, water pump specialist who can design, install and maintain your whole house water filtration, storage and economical pumping to maintain a suitable PSI on on any floor. Often the same "Pump Shop" will be the same firm that installed and maintains the "village or community" water supply, not to mention Private Hospitals, schools and local industry. You may find you will save money, get expert advise and can obtain quality water pumps, pressure tanks, water purification solutions and water storage tanks for far less than untrained chain store clerks will attempt to foist on you for the sake of a commission. In Buriram at least one shop will send experienced staff to your home and then draw up a possible water plan for you to consider PRIOR to any purchase. The same firm stocks THOUSANDS of name brand water pumps, water tanks with up to a 20 year guarantee from REAL water tank firms, and the sort of shop local Universities rely on for clean water on campus including student housing. Think about where the most influential Thai Business leaders in your community obtain clean dependable water for their homes or businesses. Check out the web site for the various grades of stainless steel water storage tanks offered by Diamond Brand. LLDPE water tanks from Diamond Brand come in several "lines" at various price points. Quality water pumps such as Grundfos, Hitachi, Luckystar or Mitsubishi can be installed as part of a water supply with or without a pressure or booster tank.
"Bigger is Better" certainly comes into play with your water pipes with regards to PSI and longer life of your water pump. Many people are unaware you can pay a minor difference for larger diameter water supply pipe to your home from even Village water supply systems. The cost for the larger diameter pipe and larger water meter is minor and a one time fee which will reap many benefits. If you ask the successful Thai business owners what "pump shop" they hire to install and maintain their personal residence water supply and/or business water supply you will be pointed in the right direction. The attached photos are typical of such a shop which are located in every province.
Hey all, what is the largest poly tank you can get in Thailand , i cant seem to find anything bigger than 5000 litres

Hello All, Scoop my meter is an Accent SalTesta ST-3. It's getting
close to 12 years old, the directions are in Oz speak so I don't think
that it can be calibrated(555).
Its time to replace it for a new meter.

Thanks Rice i will check it out,i am sure that your meter reads in CF

If there is to be a new pinned topic, I’d push to make room for it by unpinning the useless “New: Farming Weather In Thailand” pinned topic.

Thanks Khonwan,i hope moderators see it the same way, i did ask previously but i had no joy, i personally think it is a good idea, there is about 14 Pinned Organic threads, i thought 1 Pinned Hydroponic thread would be a simple procedure, but thats only my opinion

If they had prior knowledge of this attack then I don't see why all 100 were not either detained or killed preferably the latter - 17 out of 100 was not exactly great numbers considering the resource the army have
Well said, yes the 'latter" would be the way to go, and keep on moving, why sit there and wait to be attacked, they are just simple cowards, the Thai army should just keep on going untill they are all finished, and then there may be some peace from these brainless scum

Hey, Loong and Rice, thanks for your help, but i am still confused, but i could not see that the water would be EC 7.0, that would taste like sea water, i think that its just how the meter displays the reading, how often do you calibrate the meter Rice? and what is the brand of it? and i will google it and see what i can find out.

Hi Dasboot, Fe EDTA is totally soluble at that Ph. I use it in my Hydroponic nutrient and have never seen it drop out of solution or have I ever seen a deficiency in any vegetable I grow, I would love to know who told you that, most hydroponic systems run at Ph 5.5 /Ph 6.5 and use Fe EDTA have a look at my last post on Tomato Cropping for some of my results using Fe EDTA, but it does not matter if you use Fe EDDHA it is just more expensive and normally has a lower percentage of Fe, what I use is Fe EDTA 13.2% and the Fe EDDHA is 6%.
