They're just following protocol like every other country, right? The old rule of law.

    What a joke.

Sure it is a joke.... Reality Check all you people. She just like her brother slipped through the fingers of the law with help from the very ones who are claiming they knew nothing of her wearabouts.... How stupid do they think the expat community is. Pull wool over your own people and tell some ghost stories. But in Reality she was helped to flee the country through the legal means.....  How come they can catch every blue eyed farang at the border but their own they cannot.....idiots of the first kind.

Sorry Thailand you have no sense of justice and you will never succeed in ASEAN because you do not have the parameters in any legal system to maintain consistency without a story or some lame excuse. Look how many people are jumping off the roofs....funny that it only happens in Thailand. All farangs who want to end it ..... go to Thailand and jump off the roof..... hmmmm really stupid!

  2. Thailand Thailand....Lovely Open country with beautiful landscape and people who do have a heart.

What got me off my rocker was the fact that you were constantly nagged.....Its normal to retire and live a normal lifestyle. But NO...Not in Thailand.

    1. You have to go through these 90 day checks...they want to see if you are alive. It has got easier with this govt. but still a hazzle. Why cant they make a digital system and have retirees an ID like in Hong Kong?

2, Then you need to keep 800.000 blocked in a bank and produce receipt of it each year when you go to renew your pension visa.

    3.  The constant hackling and having to play games with the immigration officials that seem to make up things as they go along.

     a. No working - Painting your own house or doing some manual work around your own house could put you into position to pay a fine from 50.000Baht. What nonsense is this. A retiree should be able to do the things he loves to do around his own house. Its his property and his money and bloodywell his hobby so what the cracker is this.....Retirement benefits for Thai employment.

    b. There are jobs that only Thais can do

    c. Farang is always farang and always in the wrong. The legal system does not protect. its only there to make the process a maze to both its own citizen and the rest of the world.

After spending money and making sure of the loops. It seemed to get out of hand and I thought it best to leave the country.

I am presently in Sri Lanka. It costs me 10.000Rs for a Residential visa or Retirement visa. Which is  100$. I can choose my own home, work in it and also be treated as a local. I do not have to jump loops in a circus as in Thailand. And besides most people do speak English and its easy to get about and do the things that I love doing as a retiree.

Happy I left Thailand nothing to loose!!!!

  3. Either the general public or the Thai officials are blind to the fact

    1. Too many foreigners falling off balconies.

    2. Too many exotic hangings of young people

    3. Too many disappearances.

    This is THAILAND!!!!!

ITS A DANGEROUS PLACE TO CONSIDER EVEN RETIRING, LIVING OR EVEN COMING FOR A HOLIDAY!!!!

its not because all are murderers. Its because the law can be bought for peanuts and there is no justice at all! So all the decrees they could pass through an elephants aft is worth not a foot nor a fart.

Mz opinion to all considering Thailand as a destination..... Dont go! there are much safer places with all the exotic and beauty.

This xenophobic country has surely sent a very clear message, "we don't want foreigners" !

I agree...I lived in Thailand from 2006 - 2016. This was getting clearer and clearer.... We do not want foreigners!!! Thats not a problem for foreigners. There are many countries to choose from within the region that welcome an educational input into their communities. What is going to eventually take place. 1. Foreigners with credentials and experience will not come for penny. So sponsorship and costs will go up. 2. Locals recruited with poor credentials and teaching standards will be what will become the norm. Education will backslide rather than benchmark.

Just do not go to this areas and try to argue there.

What do they want to experience.....nature? Try Malaysia; good beaches, national parks and good roads and safety to drive. you hav a few options. If you are after binge drinking and having a fun... try singapore, sri  lanka  some of the smaller islands. Thailand is not safe anymore! there are several other asian destinations...maldives, syschelles, mauritius, hong Kong, Maccau, Philippines, Fiji......there is so much to discover so much more without risking your life

This will screw things up even more   :(

SURE!!! WILL  In Pattaya, the traffic was stop and go and in irregular intervals, no one complained. However when it was the end of the officers shift he simply put all lights on Amber and left the scene......

<deleted> is this type of responsibility....idiot after that it was a circus and bordering road rage...Atleast put the lights on automatic giving all directions a minute. simply getting on his bike and left.

    Hunger Pants......

  7. Playing big brother huh.... cannot track their own..... where is Taksin? slipped through top security, helped by top notches and is existing in the shadows of neighbouring countries......Control your own kind before you can think of controlling others. If this is implemented....then I guess all foreigners will leave this zoo.... Dog tag your chinese and your police...their the ones going into places where they should not be going to. Collecting Money.... blind to their own people breaking the law... no helmets, 3 people on a bike and drinking  and playing High Low.......why dont what is the end purpose of these SIMs..... Perverts!!!!

    Spoiler

  8. Why can not the police check on the CCTV footage of the hotel, entrance. reception and public corridors. Does not the Reception of the hotel maintain the copies of ID for the purpose required by all hotels in Thailand? Its all a bit suspicious....atleast that the conclusion I am left to ascertain based on all balcony episodes in Thailand...... Death traps to all foreigners......still not found out why they choose the balcony....

Is there any statistics how many die from falling from balconies? seems a plausible excuse......hahahahah

  9. Malaysia definitely. First you work with efficient people who speak your language and have an international mind set, in comparison to Thailand, which is still in development, they cannot communicate in Banking and in trade everything is complicated in Thai and constantly needs professional mitigation for mundane things. Malaysia has better PR opportnunities for investors, has many international connections, which Thailand still has to learn. Thailand is still a couple of years back for international investors and individual investors finding a common base. I would choose Malaysia!

  10. Pathetic bah.gif

I am not a political fan of anybody.....this is low down village attitude......"you entertain him in your house and I do not look after you!"....shows the mentality of the top nobs. They should be ashamed they could not catch this grease monkey....all the loose face and spirit talk. Well....the fact is that his friends will be friends and he will celebrate his birthday and you will continue to fear what you cannot contain.....som nah na.

  11. What a complete load of bullocks.

I totally agree...are you guys at Thaivisa paid to publish nonsense? Trustworthy What?

    Justice....

they cannot catch their own political prisoner who ran the country through his puppets.

    They cannot curtail street violence

Courts are rigged ....if the judge does not understand english the sentence is often tainted.

Bribery within the ranks of officials, Police, Immigration and Local Government.

    Banks

The most unsafe in the region...fluctuates. Interest rates a joke.

Communication is zero. They have the flash....oh sure the smile and all the pop bang and whistle to sell Burgers and candy

But spelling horibble, Communication unfriendly and selective......The sales people are more interested in their phone than in the customer.

    Taxi...selective and corrupt

School level of International English for Business to invest here poor, very poor. Look at their spelling on billboards on street signs....probably using google to translate. It is not regulated

    Security

There is no security in the country...presently under Marshal Law...everything is possible.....Dont like it here get out....thats the Thai attitude when they are proven wrong or corrected. In other words they are not on the progressive path...but on the complacent slack attitude......Leave me alone....I am Thai.

    Immigration

That is a whole affair of legal gymnastics....a theatre of paper pushers.....they love it

Thats right they are well positioned at 26 on the list

Trust worthy can only be the first 10 the rest you check it out yourself.. come on a holiday and see how you are treated in the airport, shopping malls and on the street......smiles and smugs....

  12. Wow....sounds good....Interested....!!! How can you be what you have not learnt at home or in school, let alone practice in your own country.....How do you define justice, Bribery, Prostitution and corruption....SMILE...ah ok....should sell..... More how do you stand up to being responsible and non racist.....I really hope this works out for Thailand.... My prediction...the world will show them two things....first they will be forced to use their brains and secondly, that the rest of the world knows more of Thailand than an average Thai knows of his own country......

  13. But where will they get the people from to teach then "ethics"?

Or perhaps they are only going to do the "before" session.

Ethics in Thailand....Hmmm lets list them.

    Wai at all times,

    Smile at all times

    Do not question any Teacher

Do not point out any fault of a teacher in public

Do not voice an personal opinions other than that is accepted in Thailand by the "Teachers"

Do not get involved in fighting for what is right. simply Ignore and tolerate

Do not talk of injustice seen among Thais

    Do not write anything FACEBOOK

Ethics can be defined Personal and Community. In an institution such as an educational institution.

On top of the list are

    - Moral standards

    - Responsibility to truth

    - Responsibility to Laws

    - Responsibility to humanity and its rights.

    - Taking the initiative to help those who are downtrodden

    - The art of discussing and accepting views and sharing knowledge

    - The ability to say sorry.....at the moment...a loose face syndrome.... Thais can and will never say sorry....they do not know its implications they see it as loosing face.

any more please add to the list. Would be interested to see what this curriculum of ethics is going to cover.....any links....would be interested!
