  1. Well honestly .....what do you want like minded comments to make you feel good or fishing for votes. The topic is subjective. I have my reservations of Thailand but its not up for votes. It depends what you want..... Women? Cheap food? Freedom for things your own country does not permit....it all depends. Honestly you can make yourself at home anywhere without having to fly your flag of ethics as territory conquered. Look positively at what your present has to offer in comparision to what you want to keep for the next 20 years. If its just the Winter visit..... then dont bother buying a house.... with time there would be many ghost houses for rent for much less with much more. Rent, travel the region - Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia.... they have a lot to offer without all the Immigration circus in Thailand. Malaysia has a good option 2nd Residence and you have a residence permit for 10 years. Myanmar will open up and if you are thinking of spending a quiet life....one to consider. The new horizon and welcome to ASEAN.

  2. Them Chinese are nothing but an Indian givers, they will not give you the time of day without something

in it for them, and usually this something is huge and it's like a catholic marriage, can get in but can't get out,

So what the catch here? what have Thailand committed it self in lieu of this " generous" help from the Chinese?

the catch is - America bans products from China, Europe regulates some of it and its breaches on patents. 20 chinese exhibitionist in a exhibition fair in Germany were taken out as their products were copies of European patents. China is hemmed in.... they need another gateway to sell their inferior products and whats better than joint venturing with an ASEAN country.... and exporting it to the rest of the world

The eastern Seaboard - Banglaemung is the largest Port in the area after China.... so they are after that in reality, they will use Thailand to get into their exports. So typical chinese approach.....

Thailand will bite it with the hope that their export will boom.... in reality just their logistics, Look what they did to Nepal, Look at the countries where the chinese built Ports - Sri Lanka, Pakistan and West African countries.... Supposedly donated by the chinese Gov....but built by their convicts.they are just making a silk route to pass through the eye of the needle of time with their inferior product non conforming to International trade standards. Thailand will not benefit... they will be used. Sweet talking chinese!!!!! - "An international joint venture (IJV) occurs when two businesses based in two or more countries form a partnership. A company that wants to explore international trade without taking on the full responsibilities of cross-border business transactions has the option of forming a joint venture with a foreign partner. International investors entering into a joint venture minimize the risk that comes with an outright acquisition of a business. In international business development, performing due diligence on the foreign country and the partner limits the risks involved in such a business transaction.[1]

IJVs aid companies to form strategic alliances,[2] which allow them to gain competitive advantage through access to a partner’s resources, including markets, technologies, capital and people. International joint ventures are viewed as a practical vehicle for knowledge transfer, such as technology transfer, from multinational expertise to local companies, and such knowledge transfer can contribute to the performance improvement of local companies.[2] Within IJVs one or more of the parties is located where the operations of the IJV take place and also involve a local and foreign company.[3]- source Wikipedia and others on Chinese JVs and Donations.

  3. ''Thailand Expects ''....now where have i heard that one before ?

Why is the tourist programe working with the agricultural department..... 5.5... that would clean up the bug problems in Thailand, block the streets with busses and fill the buffet houses. a profit of 1 baht per tourist is expected into the coffers! Great plan.

If they all walked across the farm lands around Chonburi....they could also plough the land for free.... Overloaded Boats and busses... who is going to earn? these guys pay it all in China and pay a chinese Thai company or associate to organise a Thai picnic for a few days..... whats the deal.

Oh I get it...its to give the immigration some work to do and keep the paper work piling up.....

Thailand I wish you all luck...... why dont you also invite 3 million Indians.... they could teach you a thing or two in "HERD TOURISM"

where the guide blows a whistle to keep the crowds together or march ahead with a red flag to keep the sheep in place....... FIASCO!!!! Amazing Thailand who is pulling wool over whose eyes?

  4. 80% complete and they are ready to indict.

    Before, the case was "perfect."

What is the English word which could be used above "perfect?"

above "perfect".....how about a water tight setup`? or a fool proof alibi, or a good set up? I do not know... Perfect is something that is man made to produce results. Conclusive would be the word that is based on facts and justice.

  5. What can one say?

hahahahahahaa.... funny but thats exactly what I was thinking...... a year ago they shot themselves in the foot. Making claims on the chinese and other Asian tourists....

What they do not bring revenue? Oh you mean they ate not in the bars and restaurants? Shame.... perhaps this is why CP is thinking of opening up restaurants in some of their 7Eleven shops... boy oh boy....

Oh and they do not drink like the Europeans?

aha... and most of their end destination costs are paid fully in China, package tours and "Herd Tourism"

Thailand will have a very low high season this year. I am looking forward to listen to the the explainations

  6. Probably made the poor man pass even more water to add to his bill when he saw that lot.

Jokes apart.... how can such a mistake happen? If this is possible imagine what the water reader or dept can do to balance their books?

Did they detect where the fault is.... was it wrong pricing ..... because a computer does not make mistakes - GIGO - garbage in garbage out.

  7. If he had run out of money, he could have sold the condo. RIP Mr Rex. wai2.gif

It is really really sad to hear of many foreigners coming here and feeling trapped, cheated and taken advantage of....my condolences to his family.

Thailand, particularly the cities have their pressure as any city in the world. The difference a foreigner has no options here...In his own country and in the places where I have lived before (15 Countries) There are means and ways in which one could gain help, support and a second chance. We do not know to which extent Rex was mentally bound, but it seems he could not find a way out. Its a shame that all help came too late for him.

  8. Thailand needs to learn much more before it can be the "Hub".

But then again, what competition does Thailand have ? Not a lot.

    Thailand a hub.....you wish

Hub for criminality and corruption yes

    A hub provides

Security, Communication in a universal language and freedom to operate....on these 3 levels they fail.

    Singapore,

    Malaysia

Seem to me a better choice - Better transparent banking, communication and work ethic is superior. Education levels and next generation integration a rational choice. Secure, save and workable.

Thailand needs to change their attitudes to investors and racist approach to anything that is not Thai!

Let Thailand be Thai in the ASEAN that would only attract Tourists

To be the hub one must have a worldwide view not just Thai

  9. Yes I am interested in also finding that bit of information! Why?

    1. Because Foreign companies pay taxes and adds to the infrastructure either export or import

    2. The bring with them standards that are recognised internationally.

    3. Gives Thailand a window in new products and services

    in contrast to

local companies that have a new broom approach. Starts well but then wears off and becomes sloppy.

  10. Is this guy considered to be an editor or a journalist of any sort?

Sounds like a soap opera script writer, same low standard. Maybe i shouldn't even say ' standard '.

yeah thats it....the whole scenario - a soap opera!!! Sorry you guys who love thrillers, sex striptease and your bottle or soother! Flip the page and continue your life.... Nothing will change it anyway.

  11. "In a last ditch move to block the impeachment of Yingluck Shinawatra, Pheu Thai Party will today present what it believes to be the strongest legal points to convince the National Legislative Assembly that it is not conforming to tradition when it comes to impeachment."

    If she's innocent why worry?

Or is the tradition they are really referring to the one where no one is liable for their criminality?

Simple question .....is what she did wrong? YES or NO? Do not need all these redefining of paragraphs and strongest legal points.....I have the feeling she is having a facelift legally....Lost it real bad in her own country with her own fellow members....thats going to hurt. Where was she heading with her plans...... I have my doubts.

A wrong does not become right for the wrong reasons!

Giving a second chance is like giving the person a loaded gun...... its going to only get worse.

  12. No pyramid scheme generating 4Billion baht and 80,000 customers in Thailand operates without Thai big men and racketeering involvement. Thai bank money launderers, Thai credit card companies and payment processors, Thai big middle men and collection thugs. Where are the busts of their Chinese Thai big men?

Why are they allowed to wear face masks...... do the police stink that bad?????

Or is it a local custom of showing respect for people with big money to save face?

    Name and shame,

Let the press get a good shot of their faces.... or else they will be back with the help of MISTIN to show their new look and new business

Gentleman .....at the immigration..... take note! you threw the baby with the bathwater... filtering europeans.... well, something new to deal with and much in the same bowl as your own...so deal with it!

  13. If the front wheels rise and lose contact with the road then 1 passenger is asked to get off or sit on the bonnet (hood) for better balance.

Edit to add.... A few years back I actually saw the front wheels rise from the road when a baht bus pulled away due to passenger load. Was in Rayong not Pattaya.

I would have loved to see it... pity no pictures.... "fly me to the moon" or "Rayong BBW - Baht Bus Wheelie"

  14. Spanish Con Man Caught In Thailand

... 2 million Thai con men still on the lose.

yeah.... I am wondering how Thaksin made it out and has been flying around meeting his buddies in Hongkong, Laos, Cambodia....by the way these buddies are high official police men....Cannot catch this wanted man....

Perhaps he has had plastic surgery or the the police officers need new spectacles......

Anyway well done for catching a farang.... does cover up for all the others let through and out by the back door.

  15. They are only interested in the money, B1600. Has nothing to do with fixing any problems. It is just another of many shake downs.

Are the bars closed in Phuket? The rather frantic, accusatory, foul-mouthed posts in this thread seem even more maniacal than usual, suggesting a collective withdrawal from something.

Some of you need to use one of these pacifiers for a few minutes, it may help you relax and regain perspective.

Please tell us what purpose this serves ? Is it to protect Thais from foreigners or the other way around ?

I guess they just want to surprise you for a tee party. so much energy lost. I hope we do not have to raise the flag of our home land every morning and put out things you brought home for the security man at night.

  16. Must be a mistake in reporting this, there is no a way a Thai could do this, I think the reporter is confused, it would of been an immigrant worker I'm sure!

Yeah surely a bit mistake by the Reporter....A Thai doing such a thing?

And who would plant all that neat stuff on the guy.... well, phew its a good thing that he confessed as being a good citizen. Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa dhu

  17. They will be polite and any doubts they have will be buried for the greater good of international relations. Just like the Thai police... They know their place in the chain of command.

    OH Do they?

What command in the ranks or in the forces?

As a force they are thoroughly disorganised and indiscipline reaks.....its the Army that has brought them to pull up their socks. I would suggest that they be transfered to the revenue office as Tax collectors. Keeping Peace and fighting crime is not their strength without personal gain. Its no secret. look at the many videos on social media that proves my point.

I would suggest that a years training in the army, to follow orders will do the police force good! afterall passing an exam where the most have cheated anyway to get the post, has given the tiger the taste of blood to take it from the public at will and not have a conscience.

I asked a Thai arent they ashamed to take a bribe.... what is a bribe? was the response, explained and I got this answer....Oh a bribe is something that is paid and no one knows about it...thats wrong...but a payment where everyone knows about it is not a bribe....its Tea money.... Oh NICE... In Europe both would be sharing a cell in the same clothes.....and heavily fined.... but that is hard for a Thai to understand I assume, my apologies.

  18. The way he wears his shirt must be the latest French fashion.

Nah...its the Thai adaption of a hoodie ..... Lost face version.

Police dont wear it....they just point at others otherwise they look like culprits

    hahahahahaha

I thought their job was detecting it in the hands of the dealer, not in the users......small fish victory! another badge to their collection.
